Pleasant rural situation. Room overlooked duck pond and fields. Staff were friendly and facilitated a change of plan and very early departure due to bloody-minded French unions at the port of Calais!

This is an incredible hotel and a complete asset to the Best Western chain. If all hotels could learn from this example then holidays would be brilliant, the food was typically French and to a very high standard, the room was very comfortable and modern.

If there was one problem then it was the WIFI which had failed and no IT person was available in the middle of a weekday afternoon, although the member of staff was very apologetic.

As always, the staff were charming. The restaurant is adequate with a limited menu. The hotel offers a smart, clean, "away from it all" option for those wanting a weekend break in the countryside but within easy reach of Calais/Boulogne. Desvres town is approximately a mile away. We have now stayed at the hotel three times and it improves with every stay!

Friendly and extremely clean, hotel situation in the country with nothing around it except by car, but comfortable and good private parking.

Restaurant . Menu was adequate but quantities very 'nouvelle cuisine'. Vision of desserts not good and would require a more varied choice, not having to accept a cartoned yogurt as a suplement for 'fromage blanc' . Lounge not very comfortable and felt we were being watched all the time!

I felt the breakfast was overpriced however as we were the only people staying that night (a quiet weeknight) I can understand that catering to the right level can be difficult and the situation may be different if the hotel is full.

The food was good. Location and grounds good.

The food was overcooked and due to the fact that there was only one person (though charming and hardworking) to attend to a busy restaurant, bar and reception the waiting time for courses was interminable.

The room was clean and tidy

Cold, leaky shower, noisy as our room was above the restaurant, no tea facilities in the room, dated decor, the internet did not work( told reception only response I got was a blank face), the useless hotel staff informed us that the restaurant was fully booked up despite the next group of people arriving getting a place. We were a couple and they were a party of 4. The only recommendation the staff could give us was 15km away (this after a 5 hour drive to reach this hotel) had a horrible meal and then had to drive back to the hotel on dark roads with boy racers racing past us every 5 mins. Horrible experience, I have never been more upset to pay money for a hotel. If you stay here make sure the restaurant is open (it is shut Monday- Thurs) and make sure you get a table, although I advise against stopping here find somewhere else.

Scenery.

It would have been nice to have been able to make a Dinner Reservation when booking our room. We arrived tired and starving, but had to wait until 9.30 pm to eat. Unfortunately the Restaurants in Desvres were either closed or not very tempting, so we just had to wait!

We liked the location - close to Calais but right out in the countryside, and the friendly comfortable feel of the hotel. The meal was excellent and although 'gourmet' our children loved it and it was reasonably priced. We had one vegetarian in our party and they created a special dish for her with no trouble. It was a great end to our holiday.

Its setting was superb but finding it was very difficult, with misleading signs in the town on its direction. A good breakfast albeit serve yourself.

A total disappointment. My wife asked for a Gin Gini to no avail. She then asked for a Pineau with the same result. Finally she asked for a dry white wine but this turned out to be a Cremeau!! At dinner a steak requested as medium rare turned out to be well done. This was brought to the attention of the head waiter who said he would speak to the Chef. That was the end of it. No apology Nothing. Grossly overpriced

The 'Moulin' offers exceptionally comfortable accommodation in an exquisite woodland setting. Each bedroom opens out onto a walkway, past a small lake. The restaurant has an excellent a la carte menu, but offers daily specials which are very reasonably priced. The staff were extremely helpful, courteous and welcoming. The nearby market town of Desvres is friendly and attractive. But the 'Moulin' is more than just a stopover for Calais. The area around it is very attractive. It is ideal for a family holiday. Curiously undervalued, the Pas-de-Calais and the coast deserve to be more visited.. This is the perfect place to start from.

Havig to leave

Second stay here. It is a very pleasant hotel in peaceful country surroundings but only a short drive from motorway and coast.

Unfortunately the restaurant is closed on Mondays and there was no reference to this in the information supplied and on the booking confirmation. The staff were very helpful and booked another restaurant for us a few males away. That was excellent but high-priced.

Location, friendly staff, excellent cuisine

Reasonably close to Ferry Ports and easy to find. Pleasing countryside and garden with lake: functional and served the purpose well, with very helpful and pleasant staff. Old fashioned atmosphere although standard modern building... cleverly done. Meal very good...and the 3 legged cat also looked well fed, which was good!

An alarm went off whilst we were dining and nobody bothered to explain what it was. A big noise for quite a long time was a bit worrying and a little re-assurance would have helped. Breakfast was OK but a bit bleak... didn't like the room (wallpaper) and there seemed to be no Baguettes. The Pannacotta was a pleasant surprised but wasn't set... we thought perhaps it was a failed attempt from a dinner menu?... shame... Our double-glazing frame was collapsing; needs a little attention...not serious and the tea-making table needed to be near to a reachable socket, so we moved it. (At least it had one!).

Good stopping off point for travelling down into France or returning. Pleasant rural location within easy reach of Calais or Boulogne. Good value buffet breakfast.

We liked the look of the menu displayed outside the restaurant so decided to eat there in the evening. At the table we were offered a very simple menu with limited choice. When we said that we had expected to have the menu, the waitress said that she would have to go and ask the chef whether this was available. Fortunately she came back with the OK and we finished up having an excellent meal. We did notice however that even after this exchange other tables were only offered the simple menu. I suppose that this was because the hotel was very quiet with few guests, but if this was the case they should not have displayed the full menu outside.

A lovely, warm welcome on arrival. Superb food and excellent service in the restaurant. Very clean and comfortable room in a beautiful countyside setting .
