Le Moulin De La Salaou  

Le Moulain is a simple but a comfortable place. We had a nice and cozy room with a beautiful mountain view. Very quiet. We slept really well. The hotel is conveniently located on the way to the Verdon Canyon (route D952). The hotel restaurant is nicely decorated by the host himself. The host and other staff are very amiable and helpful.

Nice location, real moulin on the territory, good parking and just on the road. Good food in the restoran. Breathtaking view from the window.

Average breakfast (but it is common in France), with juice-coffee-bread. Room is not spacious. Sounds from the bath.

I had the best sleep of my life! Must be the mountain air!

Beautiful location, fairly simple room but also cosy, good outside bar area, helpful owner advising on sights in the area, plenty of parking space, fast wi-fi.

Only minor thing is shower was handheld type in bath rather than shower unit or bath with a screen.

Le Moulin De La Salaou is a rustic French farm house with a restaurant at the front and guest rooms at the back. The restaurant was excellent and catered to our food requirements very well. The rooms were simple but well laid out. There is a shared area with pc, fridge, tv and tables.

The toilets were very loud and cause water to come out of the hand basin drain.

The room was in a small adjoining building with several other rooms. The place was very nice and very quiet and not even the river was hearable. The room was tastefully furnished, although everything was very basic: no tv, only gloomy light, old curtains, old door. Contrary to the standard hotel (Ibis, Etap) style, this was very personal and really cozy. The hotel is located a little outside of the town. The adress in booking.com seems not to be correct, however, there is a sign in the (only) roundabout in Castellane. The place is great if you plan to have a long day in the Verdon Valley/Canyon. The hotel is directly on the way to the canyon and perfect if you are planning to start early. Internet connection was available.

The bathroom was ok, although the shower curtain was somehow not clean... The breakfast was very very basic and I didnt like the coffee. The furniture in the breakfast room was ridiculous, i've never seen that many plastic flowers in my life.

Good position to visit Les Gorges du Verdon. Exterior nice: the old biulding, the terrace, the water mill, beautiful view. Ok wi-fi connection.

The room was a disaster in our point of vue. Very very old furniture and also in bad shape. No tv in room. No conditioned air. Our room did not correspond with the pictures from the site, it was very-very-very ugly. Likewise the bathroom - everything old and in bad shape. Maybe for 20-25 euro/night I will said is perfect, but for double price is a disaster. We stay in France at many other traditional small hotels at same price but on infinite better conditions.

It was reasonably priced, the food and service was good and the location was perfect for travelling from Gorges du Verdon to Route Napoleon.

Rooms were very basic. Travelling by motorcycle, the sloping gravel drive and parking was interesting!

Very convenient location just off the main road entering the village. Good and secure car parking.

Hotel room was very basic and lacked any charm. Despite being in beautiful countryside couldn't see any of it from inside or outside the room. Worst aspect however was that to gain access to the room you have to pass by your next door neighbour, disturbing them every time you want to get in or out.

The staff was particularly helpful and the outdoor dining area inviting. The menu was the typical rural hotel menu but the food was good and well prepared.

The room was a bit sparser than expected--thin mattress, especially on the bunk bed--but neat and clean.

Mooie rustige ligging,grote parking,het nodige was er allemaal,goede bediening van vers linnen en poetsen van de kamer,moest wel wat meer verluchting hebben door de warmte 30°c op einde juni 2012,rustige kamertjes,heel vriendelijke bediening van alles,zeker de prijs waardig,juist eindtje van centrum Castelane op wandel afstand,Eten prijs waardig,ontbijt wat karig,geen kaas of eitjes of charcuterie bij,wel te krijgen mist betaling,wij zouden zeker nog terug gaan.fam. Ide uit Oostende.

Good value for tyour money. Clean. Was hot though no A/C

The hotel has free parking and cafe/restaurant.

The room we got was small, its door couldn't open complete as it was blocked by bed. Despite the room was not at ground floor, during night moisture was quite high. The room has no air conditioning and fan in bathroom was not silent at all. Also there is no TV. Only one wall outlet is available. Shower in the room is tiny and has no right mount for the watering can shower.

Fantastic views, Friendly staff, good food, nice and clean. We would use it again if in the area for a short stay.

I liked the Hotel a great deal and they were upfront with us from the beginning and gave us choices. I came with two 13 year olds but they were not little kids, so the room they had reserved was not adequate. However they offered a room but explained that is was near the disco and might be noisy. We chose that room, and while it was indeed at times a bit noisy, the space give the kids overcame the discomfort of the noise.

It is basically what we where looking for: A clean place with a comfortable bed and a clean toilet.

Just to say something the way to Castellane (The closet village) is not too far (about 15 min by walk) but a bit dark and dangerous (no pedestrian way)
