The Hotel Balladins Lille is in the center of Lille, right across from Lille Flanders Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Lille-Europe Station.

Right in the very center of Lille, le Grand Hôtel has an ideal geographical location: the long distance and TGV (High Speed Train) stations, the airport shuttle-bus, the subway, the Chamber of...

The hotel is situated above a restaurant/bar, just go inside and search for a reception sign at the left. Staff is really helpful, and the room is very comfortable. Bathroom is quite crowded due to the unusual shape of the room, basic toiletry items are provided. There's no wardrobe, but you get some hangers to put your clothes on. You get a fantastic view to Euralille from rooms on the top floor :)
The toilet is too close to the sink, and there's no sign how to flush it. Would be hard to find the button in the lower left side If you haven't read the comments.
The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, the room was basic but nice and clean. The man on duty when we arrived at 7 in the morning was briliant really helpful.
The location was really good but being outside the main trainstation meant it was noisy all the time.
We went to watch football and after game we returned yo hotel to have a drink he refused us and closed the bar not even to make us a brew. He was grummpy to a few people during the day like we were an inconviniance to him. We visiting Lillie in Jan again but defo not stopping at le napoleoan rubbish. Also poor fire regs top floor stair way blocked all the time.
Good location his staff were nice, but they were clearly embaressed by the grumppy manager.
Location was great. Opposite Gare de Lille with the bus station at the end of the road. The young girl on reception was friendly.
Staff were inattentive. Whilst waiting for my partner to arrive from work in Bruges the staff left me waiting in the bar for a drink for at least 10 minutes, don't think they liked the fact I was alone. Breakfast was very poor.
Straight across the road from train station but hotel nothing to rave about.
Very small and basic.
Free Wi-Fi, central location, and still quiet enough to sleep properly. Good breakfast, specially considering the price
Close to major train station, during night time you might not like to be there on your own.
Perfect location, great staff, very good price - quality restaurant and breakfast
a bit too hot in the room
We wanted a room very close to the railway station and our room more than met our expectations for budget accomodation. Recently modernised room, and comfortable bed.
Lack of wifi in room. Tricky to find entrance, had to enter via restaurant
Convenience for stations
Extremely overpriced. Hotel is reached through a scruffy passage at the back of a bar. Nobody in charge. We were treated as though we had just come in off the street. Not offered the residents' breakfast - given coffee and one croissant, costing over10 euros. After first morning, bought breakfast elsewhere. Bedroom was acceptable, but the whole experience was very disappointing.
Central location. Clean & comfortable.
The closeness to the Eurorail Station. We had travelled from Singapore to Heathrow and then caught the train to France. We didn't need to find taxis and travel any further. Plenty of interesting places to eat and have a drink. Only a few minutes walk to the centre of the old town. Very beautiful
Helped us to keep the luggage after checkout safely while we are visiting local attractions. One of the staff members was fluent in English while others are polite and helpful. The view is nice from the top floor.
The corridors are slightly stinking.
The only good thing I could say about this hotel is the convenient 7 minute walk from the coach station. There are a couple of nice places to eat in Lille, there is an amazing creperie and cake shop around the fountain and the restaurant next to Mcds at the fountain does the best mussels and steak we have ever tasted. That's as good as it gets in Lille!
We were on the second floor of the hotel which had patio doors and a balcony, this looked out over a subway which was always full of drunks hanging around day and night, I even had the displeasure of seeing a woman urinate in the street in broad daylight!! The road below the window was extremely noisy at all times. We had to keep the doors closed during the night because it was so noisy but this caused the room to be extremely hot and with no other window or fan it was very uncomfortable. The bed dipped in the middle and the shower head didn't fit in the holder so we had to hold the shower the entire time we were in there. The decor was extremely outdated and the bed looked like it had already been slept in. As for Lille itself I will never ever return. There were drunks and beggars everywhere, you couldn't walk 10 yards without walking past one or being hounded for the water bottle in your bag. As a 25 year old couple there was nothing for us to do and we didn't feel safe being out past 10pm so spent a lot of time in our hotel room.
opposite train station
located opposite lille flandres station, excellent location. No frills accomodation, but good for short stay and city trip. Brasserie on ground floor serves good food. Wifi worked OK.
bit old and outdated rooms but clean and with good bed.
Location And the Staff were friendly and helpful . Had breakfast and dinner there . Both meals were very good . Would stay here again if I visited Lille again
They did not provide the twin room we especially booked many months before, the said none were available. We ended up with a double bed that sunk in the middle causing major back pain.
Good position with respect to downtown (5 minutes walking). Staff rather kindly .
Quality/price ratio too low, in my opinion. I am used to travel a lot, so I think I am able to evaluate. I spent more than 80 euros/night and, although my stay was ok, it was nothing special and just in front the railway statio The bathroom could be improved (you do not know where you can put your stuffs and towels while washing; shower not perfectly clean...). Rooms can be a bit noisy (from both inside and outside), so if you can sleep in any situation is ok, otherwise...you'd better change.
The breakfast was ok. Staff were friendly and although they didn't have a computer for customers they let me use their own to make a print.
Extremely noisy area. Also the wooden roof was making noise as ppl were walking upstairs. Couldn't get proper sleep for 3 nights and ruined my conference.
food and staff
i was alone
food was great
Manager gave us a poor room at top of building. Lift is poor View was poor
Extremely polite, helpful and considerate receptionist with fluent English. Fantastic location close to railway station, but opposite park = very quiet. Charming rooms with a mix of antique furniture and modern appointments. Lovely extra: Choice of French and English books in the lobby. I only stayed one night, but I would definitely chose it again. All this for a bargain price (and no, I'm not being paid to say this;).
No lift. This might be something to consider if you have problems moving about. However, the hotel staff are ready to find a room that suits your needs. Just give them the chance and tell them.
Location to the train stations. Everything was clean even though very worn and dated.
It started off poorly. We were doubled billed for the hotel before we even left for our vacation - hadn't even slept there yet. Booking.com is trying to resolve it and the hotel said they would. We booked a room with an extra bed (a cot with an extra fee) and were told we were upgraded. That was good though I don't know what we were supposed to get?! There was someone smoking in one of the rooms close to ours which filled our room with the smell as well the smoking from the patrons downstairs (this hotel is over a bar/restaurant) so it was hard to leave the windows open. Most of the hotel staff didn't want much to do with us. While I feel enormously guilty that my French is limited, we did try. Their website advertises that they speak English but only one person would. The money we saved staying here would have been better spent somewhere else. Pay more and stay farther away from the station - close also means we were close to the metro station, which was the hang out for night crawlers - which isn't really past midnight in France.
A Very good location, and surprisingly quiet given how central it was. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Cannot rate this place high enough for the thrifty traveller.
