“Le Pigonnet is in quite a good location as it's only a 10 min walk into town. The public areas of hotel and grounds are beautiful. Choice of food at breakfast was good.”

The location and gardens are attractive, and a calm refuge away from the bustle of the city. The individual courses for dinner were particularly good. This is supposed to have 5 Michelin stars. The coffee at breakfast was instant and almost undrinkable.

I was disappointed in the Le Pigonnet. It is rated as a five star hotel yet, the carpet is old and there is a bad odor in the hallways. The location is a bit far from the center . However, the gardens are beautiful and the breakfast was exceptional.

I have stayed before. It is outside of town but within walking distance and it is very calm. A very good restaurant. Nice linens. A good selection for breakfast and The breakfast has a wide selection but they do not buy fresh bread from the baker which is disappointing. I was upgraded with a room with a balcony but I had stayed another time and my room was twice the size for the same price but it did not have a balcony.

Really enjoyed the restaurant. Quite expensive, but definitely worth it, and an excellent Maitre D The room was noisy, being over the kitchens, and actually rather disappointing for a so-called (self-proclaimed) 5 star hotel. Slightly old fashioned and shabby decoration; bathroom not great

It's a decent hotel, but no way it's a five star, say 4 star with traces of past grandeur. The breakfast was very good and it was included in the price of the room. We have not used the spa and have not eaten at the restaurant. The location is very quiet, good 15 mins walk to the city centre. The bed was very hard for an average person and not really comfortable, although big. The rooms have not been refreshed for many years. The general feeling of disappointment, the hotel is not to the slh standard.

Our stay at Le Pigonnet was exquisite. The service was exceptional in that all hotel staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and above all very professional in their responsibilities. It appeared from a customer point of view that each staff member was well trained in their duties and sought to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast as the food was fresh and well layed out. An added touch was the ability to order off a menu to ensure that the hot items were prepared as ordered. My compliments to all!!! Bob and Annie, Qatar

The building itself, the park, room view, breakfast, quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Very romantic place!! For 5 stars would be appropriate to perform a turndown service and a porter.

Without a doubt Le Pigonnet is in a league of it's own in many respects and some aspects can be highly recommended. It was nice to be greeted with a smile upon arrival, booked in and shown to our room. We were offered help with our luggage and once installed found we had tea/coffee making facilities. Although our room was not large, it was warm and cosy. My husband wished for a sheet & blanket instead of a heavy duvet and it was changed promptly and with a smile. The gardens are extensive and pretty with shrubs and statues adorning the grounds with a lovely swimming pool for use in the summer but closed from the 3Oth September.. When you accept a promotion offer you really cannot grumble if some things are slightly less than perfect. Our bedroom had a restricted view over part of the car park, not exactly exciting but we were paying l65 euros instead of 3l5 euros P.day but it would have been nice to have an easy chair in our room. Although the s/pool was closed for the season, the sofas beside it were mucky with leaves and dust which we cleaned off and promptly fell asleep in the sun so at least they must have been comfortable, if not clean! The dining room was disappointing, no white tablecloths, just slate mats My fillet steak had no veg.& At 35 euros I found this unacceptable one night so ate out thereafter.

This is a wonderful, small boutique hotel a short walk from the center of Aix. We stayed only one night but I would not hesitate to go back for a longer period of time. The service was excellent and the hotel staff helpful. The decor is understated elegance yet extremely comfortable for a 5 star hotel. But it is the gardens of this hotel that are the star. To walk through them in the morning or evening is to know you are in a very special place. We had coffee in the morning and wine in the evening sitting amongst the beautiful landscape. I did not use the pool or eat dinner at the restaurant but had their ample breakfast buffet. Aix is a more special place because of Le Pigonnet and I would return to stay without hesitation. There was absolutely nothing about Le Pigonnet that we did not like.

Beautiful building and grounds. We arrived very late, but the front desk attendant was gracious and helpful. Although the dining room was closed, he tried to see if they could seat us. There had been a large meeting group for dinner, and it was not possible. We ordered room service, instead, and the food came promptly, delivered by a friendly woman. Our room had a terrace overlooking the lovely grounds.

Within walking distance of Aix en Provence center but easy to get to autoroute so do not have to drive in downtown area. Very quiet at Le Pigonnet with lovely gardens, fountains, & pool area. We had a superior room overlooking the gardens which was a good size room & very nice. Did not have breakfast or dinner at the hotel, but their restaurant is beautiful and if we return, would definitely have breakfast there.

Le Pigonnet is in quite a good location as it's only a 10 min walk into town. The public areas of hotel and grounds are beautiful. Choice of food at breakfast was good. The room needed updated and the money we paid for a deluxe room wasn't worth the room quality. Pool bar service was non existent. There was never anyone there so everytime we needed a drink you had to get dressed in suitable attire and go into the restaurant to ask someone to come and serve you at the pool - ridiculous! This was the case for the four days we sat by the pool. Requested a room with a terrace/balcony 4 times as we were there for a special occassion - this request wasn't met. Hotel should have a separate lunch and dinner menu. Most people just want a snack at lunchtime and not a steak/seabass/lamb chop meal!

Everything except the walk into and out of the town in the heat. It is not very well advertised that they have the facility to take you ( and ? bring you back ) from town by hotel car, which would have been a God-send if known about.

The public rooms and particularly the garden were splendid. The swimming pool too, though we didn't actually use it. Staff were very friendly with the exception of breakfast - see next. The breakfast service was a bit snooty. When we asked for cornflakes or porridge, the answer was that neither (of these basic items) was available. This for a 19 euro breakfast. Neither were we supplied with the menu, on which we found later there were hot dishes to choose (no hot buffet). Breakfast was really the only black mark, but we didn't have another breakfast and we also decided not to dine at the hotel. Overall we did like the hotel however.

The grounds of the hotel are amazing. The instant we arrived the staff were very helpful and friendly, they showed us to a superb room with a lovely view over the hotel gardens. The food was very good and the breakfast each day was wonderful - as much delicious food as you could eat! A great choice of fresh fruit, continental style breakfast with good quality ingredients, and many choices of cooked eggs, (ranging from boiled eggs to full english to eggs and bacon) and some lovely crepes, pancakes or waffles as well! The location was very good for travelling around the south of France. The car park was secure and had plenty of space. I had the gym to myself most of the week! The pool was in a lovely location, and again, the staff were on hand to make sure everything you needed was there. We spent a week here for our honeymoon and intend to return soon - we also met another couple who had their honeymoon there the previous year and were returning! Once or twice we couldn't get a table at the hotel restaurant because they were so popular. This was our fault because we left it so late to ask for a table but you normally expect to get a table if you are staying there.

Gardens are beautiful - ideal for relaxing. Breakfast in hotel is expensive - better value at equal quality available in local restaurants.
