Le Relais De Saint Preuil  

It was a bit of a drive from Angouleme (~40minutes of twisty roads), but worth it once there. The country side is beautiful, the Relais is rustic but impeccably maintained and comfortable. The staff are incredibly friendly (and fluent in English!), so eager to help in whatever way necessary. Overall a wonderful place. We would (and hopefully will) stay there again.

Christinas home-cooked food, including fresh bread, is very special. The establishment was very clean, beautiful, and perfect for a stop-over. It is in a very beautiful rural location and the pool and sauna were well maintained.

Availability of food was an issue in what is a holiday destination. If you want to eat, ample notice needs to be given as the owner is also the cook. For instance, dont think that you can telephone ahead towards the end of a 1500km journey in the hope of geting food upon arrival. This attitude makes this luxury accomodation more bed and breakfast than hotel and detracted from an otherwise perfect visist. Be prepared to plan your meals well ahead, take your own food, or eat out. Also note well, that a lack of air conditioning or a ceiling fan could make this a hot stay!

El entorno es magnífico, en medio de los viñedos y con un bosque en un costado. En una ubicación perfecta para visitar los bellos lugares de la región (La Rochelle, Isla de Ré, Cognac, etc.)

Wanneer men aankomt wordt men warmhartig ontvangen door Mme Montembault. Ze heeft veel dingen te vertellen over de omgeving etc etc. Het is een oud postrelais waar voorheen de paarden en de mannen rust werd gegunt voor weer verder te reizen. Dat kunt u ook doen. Gezien de afgelegen plek is t heel rustig maar men heeft wel alles beschikbaar. Zwembad, fitness, fietsen etc en een bos om in te wandelen. Ik ben maar 1 nacht gebleven voor zaken maar kom nog een keer terug voor een langer verblijf tijdens mijn vakantie. Verder kunt u genieten van de plaatsellijke specialiteiten die de eigenaar zelf voorbereid met de plaatselijke gekweekte ingredienten. Een aanrader.

Trés belle chambre dans un cadre superbe Restauration en table d'hôte, de qualité Accueil attentif .

Isolation sonore insuffisante entre les chambres( du moins pour notre chambre située au rez de chaussée)

El desayuno casero que prepara la dueña del hotel, la ubicación, la tranquilidad que se respira en el entorno, el paisaje que rodea al hotel, en resumen, muy recomendable para descansar y visitar unos días la zona.

Manque climatisation ( pas indispensable , mur épais ),frigo dans la chambre pôur boisson

Accueil des propriétaires simple et chaleureux; petit déjeuner avec produits faits maison (gateaux, croissants, pain, confitures); renseignements avisés sur les visites à réaliser aux alentours, qualité de la literie, préoccupation vis à vis de l'environnement

Wunderschön restaurierte historische Anlage mit sehr engagierter Besitzerin. Tolle Versorgung mit hochwertigen regionalen Spezialitäten. Blick von Terasse und dem großen Pool über endlose Weinberge. Ein toller Platz zum entspannen.

Mooi authentiek gerestaureerd pand midden de natuur. Enorm enthousiaste gastvrouw, ambassadeur van de streek. Verzorgde kamers met mooie functionele badkamer. Avondeten lekker, coupieus maar een tikkeltje té veel geanimeerd door de gastvrouw, zij beheerste de volledige avond de conversatie. Het onbijt idem dito. Lekkere eigenbereide confituren, vers gebakken brood en croissants, fruitsap, koffie, helaas geen hartig hapje. Ik vond 13 euro voor dit onbijt vrij duur. Mits een paar aanpassingen aan de manier van uitbaten zeker de moeite waard om te verblijven.

Een hotel in een prachtige streek. Alle faciliteiten aanwezig.

We were attending a wedding at Belle Vue Pirac and the location was excellent. The dinner on the first night was excellent although my husband would have liked more wine! We had apperative 2 glasses of red wine and a digestive all local and probably not what we would have chosen but good all the less. The quality of Christines cooking was excellent all agin local produce and we were given a detailed history of the products and wher they came from. We tried to eat dinner on a second occasion but couldn't as we only enquired in the morning instead of giving 24 hours notice( we did wonder if she prepared the same meal as 2 Norwegian boys we got friendly with had the same meal on arrival) We loved the swimming pool and garden.

The taxis although very efficient were very expensive even by English standards, Also the last night we were at Le Relais it was very noisy with young children running through the corridors. We are grandparents and know what children are like so it wasn't the fault of Le Relais but inconsiderate parents. All in all we would recommend Le Relais and return
