Having to leave after only one night.
Gosh, where to start? Initially the location with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Peaceful and quiet. One approaches via a quiet country road, through gates and up a long drive. The building itself, really quite ancient, beautifully restored, window boxes and a carefully tended garden. The staff were very friendly and helpful, showing us to our room in the second floor.
A verandah runs along the outside with each room being allocated and table and two chairs where you can enjoy views over the countryside and the swimming pool. The room was very comfortable, with a superb bathroom and separate toilet. Nighttime was blessed with a bright moon shining through the trees and owls hooting.
Dinner was a most unique experience. Under the wonderful old yew tree, with fairy lights. The service was impeccable and the food outstanding. Michelin standard.
Most importantly to us too was that our dogs were made welcome, that includes when we had our evening meal.
I could not recommend this hotel highly enough.
