El trato ha sido muy cordial, la ubicación genial y en la parte baja del edificio se encuentra una brasserie que pertenece al hotel,todo estaba limpio.

El edificio es antiguo, por lo que han metido los baños en las habitaciones o ya estaban. Mi habitación tenía el baño con su puerta, pero la de mis amigos, tenía las piezas del baño a la vista, incluso el retrete. Menos mal que no me tocó,lo siento por mis amigos.

no warning that we would not be able to check in friday - saturday unless we called (we didn't have a phone in europe). luckily someone down the street was able to call for us to get the reception to come downstairs and check us in. woman running the hotel did not speak english. room was old, outdated and walls were paper thin. shared bathroom and shower facilities were disgusting. breakfast disappointing. overall it was a pretty terrible place to stay. city was depressing. wifi was difficult to use and often cut off.

Good location and cheap cost.

Room is on 5th floor,no lift.Toilet was little broken.The reception is in a bar.On Sunday I arrived,the bar was closed,so I had to call to check in.

Room was clean, staff were friendly and they had a yard where we could leave bikes. Basic but decent value.

The ensuite had paper thin walls and the door didn't close properly

One has to call from the street to get them to open. A walk up four flights of stairs - good for the heart, I suppose.

Website said room were "heated" and "soundproof", neither were true and the room was freezing. The owners spoke no English, which is understandable given the region, however as we had multiple problems this made it difficult and my husband and I were surprised that they couldn't couldn't communicate basic things in English in such a high tourist area. For example, their was only one bathroom on our floor and the toilet was broken. I tried to tell them it was broken and they acted like they understood but they never fixed the toilet. (We had to go down a floor to use the restroom.) Also it was advertised that they had free wifi and it was accessible everywhere. The free wifi did not work in our room or in the "reception area". Additionally the reception was listed as being open until 8pm but was only open that late 1 of the 4 evenings we stayed there.

The owner was extremely nice. The place is solely somewhere to sleep in Caen. We were only there for one night. We were amazed at how quiet the place is considering we were so near to the station.

The cleanliness of the room was excellent. The bed was very comfortable and quiet. It was very good value for money. The manager was very friendly when he checked me in, happily indulging me in my beginners French, and switching to English when we got really stuck.

The ensuite facilities included a toilet in the corner of the room. If you're travelling as a couple and value a bit of privacy you should bear this in mind. I preferred to use the shared toilet in the hall, and this was kept very clean. Breakfast was 4 slices of french bread and a croissant with jam, and a cup of tea, not great value for 6.5 Euros, I wouldn't bother with it if I went there again.

Nice clean hotel.

You can hear the neighbours through the walls. Toilet and shower are in the same room, not in a separate room. The toilet bowl is straight by the window.

Good location: 10 min from the railway station. Clean room. I was sharing the shower and even there is was clean. Nice stuff. Really good value for money!

Cheap and close to train station.

There is only one shared shower and it's on the 3rd floor, we were on the 5th so that was a tad annoying. The owners don't speak english. On the 3rd night we discovered that our room was infested with some sort of bug which got into our bags when we told the owners all they did was spray everything with bug spray which made the room smell and gave us headaches, didnt offer for us to change rooms. Wouldnt stay there again, there are alot of other budget hotels in Caen that would have been better quality.

Extremely good location within comfortable walking distance of everything in central Caen including the bus and railway stations. Adequate basic accomodation at a reasonable price. Friendly, helpful, staff in the bar which doubles as reception.

What was described on the website as 'private bathroom' was actually a shower cubicle, a W.C. pedestal and a sink behind screens in the room itself. These facilities were perfectly adequate, but I was unhappy that the website was so blatantly misleading.

One shower. For everyone. I never had any problems using it, but I'm sure it happens.

It was cheap, near the train station, and got us close enough to the Normandy beaches for our tour. It was also near bus lines to get to the D-Day Museum in Caen.

The owner/operator and his wife are kind, but there was a language barrier for us that was difficult to overcome. Their breakfast is really expensive for what you get... Just some bread, juice, and jam. Not worth the 8 or 9 Euros.

We only stayed for one night so I can´t really evaluate... It was simple but good.

4 floors and no elevator...

The location was good.

The lack of private bathroom even though it is advertised with one. The toilet is a screen in the room and the shower is a box next to the bed not a very private bathroom.

This is a great value hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a secure place to leave our bicycles. The restaurant and bar part of the hotel was well modern (albeit in an old building) and the meals - we had both breakfast and dinner - were excellent. Our room - on the first floor - was comfortable and clean and we extended our stay to see more of the amazing sites of Caen. Highly recommended!

Extremly friendly staff, who speak quite good English. Room is fantastic for the rate. You have your own shower, but share a toilet with about 4 other rooms. There is a tv with about 5 french speaking channels. Restaurants/pubs/take away all within 5- 20mins walk away depending on what you want. Great base for getting to DDay beaches and museum as well as getting the train to Mont St Michel (2hrs each way).

We did not like

Our room was on the 4th floor - which is the fifth. We had no help to bring up the luggage. When we got home from Normandy, we had no power. It took 45 minutes to find the manager and get him to repair the fuse. It is at the end of a main road by the traffic light. The noise level was incredible. Upon leaving the next morning, we were detained and needed to show our receipt for a $6.50 breakfast (each) which consisted of bread, a croissant, butter, a glass of juice each and packet jam. The manager apologized when we produced our PAID receipt.
