The hotel de France was built in the beginning of last century. It has been run by the same family for the past 4 generations.
Score from 130 reviews Wonderful
It's a lovely old building with lots of character situated in a lovely square in a small town, 5 minutes walk from the Lore River. The food and service in the restuarant is excellent and the rooms comfortable.
A family hotel run with a personal touch.
I can't find fault. It was clean, comfortable and intimate.
Very comfortable room with everything we could need. Web site had said no food served on Friday so I had researched other options. Thankfully, the information was incorrect and we had an amazing meal at a very reasonable price, 21 euros, on our return journey, we had the more expensive menu, 35 euros to include 2 glasses of wine, and it was even more fantastic. They were the best 2 meals of our holiday!
The fact that the owner rang my mobile to see how close I was before the service of dinner was finisher. Instant service of very good food as soon as ordered. Good location geographically for my particular journey. Private parking but not closed. Pretty village.
Very ordinary and basic room no attempt at décor. no pictures etc. Ugly shower room with multi-coloured tiles. Light bulbs missing over basin. Minute space for loo with huge metal toilet paper holder made it difficult to even use! Rooms sadly not up to standard of the cooking. Shame. Traffic quite noisy in the morning
Central location. Our picnic breakfast by the river was delightful, thanks to the small shop that sold bread and fruit.
The evening meal was terrible, and the staff had no idea about how to serve.
Pleasant reception, fair sized room Good outdoor facilities for eating and drinking
Friendly but inattentive staff. My entrecôte was terrible but I ate it, made no attempt to be reimbursed but told the waitress to tell the chef to chage butcher. Her eventual reply, maddening in the extreme, was " all entrecôte is like this." Poor show.
Very pleasant owner/chef and family. The owner has put us in the same room on each visit which is appreciated. Safe car parking.
Pleasant family run hotel. Very welcoming and a good standard of English spoken and understood. This is the third year we have stayed at this particular Logis on our way to visit friends and also on the return journey - 6 stays in all.
The breakfast was acceptable.
it was a very basic room and smelt foisty. we had chosen this hotel as it had a restaurant and we were arriving on a Sunday however, it was not open and nor was this mentioned on the booking details. We were very disappointed as we had to travel some miles to find somewhere to eat. We will not be returning. We were also very concerned that there were no staff on duty for the whole time we were there - someone greeted us at 3.30pm and then disappeared and didn't return all night until the following morning hence there was no one there to express our concerns to.
Very clean, excellent value for money, conscientious staff!
Location in centre of village, good car park nearby, nice river views nearby.
The window could only open a little. The bathroom was cramped. Decor was tired.
Staff very helpful. Restaurant was very good.
The price was very good and it is not far from the A 28 Motorway. The dinner was acceptable but was not cheap, relative to the price of the room and the quality of the food.
The staff at dinner wanted our order before we had time to read the menu. The dinner seemed very rushed and they could not wait to get us out of the dining room. The WIFI did NOT work in the bedroom, it is meant to work all over the hotel. The lobbey is most unviting. You could not sit and relax there. There is always somebody with a vacuum cleaner that makes you feel as if you are in the way. My feeling is that staff need training in how to make a guest feel welcome. A smile is not enough.
excellent food but at a price
reception and breakfast area in same room
Very friendly & helpful; excellent restaurant, in center of town.
Early morning traffic was very loud.
very dated and no charecter No staff available after 1900hrs & restaurant closed. other logis hôtels have been excellent but after this one we will be very cautious about booking logis hotels
Friendly & Very Good Cooking. Dog friendly.
All very good
This was the second time that we have stayed at Logis de Vedaquais this year. The first time was ona Monday, so the restaurant was closed. This time, I made sure that it would be open! (Saturday evening...) We were not disappointed. The meal was a delight, probably the best one of many we had enjoyed in France on this holiday. It was lovely to see a party of local people with their children in the dining-room as well, all enjoying themselves. The young owner/chef is to be congratulated for the hard work that he and his wife and team must be putting into the hotel. We shall definitely make this a regular stop in the future.
Since the weather had just started to become decidedly cooler at the beginning of October (we had driven through snow in the Auvergne that day) We would have like the radiator in the bedroom to be functioning. Luckily, there was a heater in the bathroom, so that stayed on and the door open! Also, even though there is a WiFi re-router in the hallway of the annex where we were, it wasn't really up to the job of providing a good strong signal to our room.
Nice big rooms, nice hot showers. Comfy beds. Good value for money for a stop over with a family.
No kettle in room, though they did have a mini bar.
