Quiet location with secure car park and just a stroll from the bars and restaurants. Very sociable and helpful owner.

The room was nice, big and really well equipped even if the heating is "homemade" and the hairdrying would be useful, at least in winter.

The owner appeared really friendly but then I had bad surprises. She put into the invoice the additional payment for privat parking which would have been for free (as says the booking site in the description). It is not clear if is for free or not. The sauna is quite big but inside it no pail with water is available, the room for "relaxing" is microscopic, you can have a shower but only with cold water (in winter!!!!). The sauna is not for free, but nobody has informed me about that. At the moment of check-out she has asked money for the sauna. I don't complain for the money but it would have been correct be informed before that is not for free. Moreover, at the moment of my reservation I requested the dinner, the owner said that because I was alone the dinner was not available, and she said that she cooks for groups only.

We loved the style of decor in our room and in the hotel in general. So much of the owner's inspired and gentle yet efficient character has been expressed in this charming hotel. We did not meet the other two hosts but Rosalie was extremely helpful to us in the matter of accidental over-charging by a local restaurant the previous night. I for one shall definitely return to stay there. (I am making the assumption that Rosalie is in fact the owner. If so, she has a lovely hotel and we felt very fortunate to be guests there.) Le Vieux Logis is very quirky and unusual; the building itself is old and has many nooks and crannies together with beamed ceilings,timber staircase, country style decor and accessories in a shabby chic style. There were a myriad of ornaments and decorative pieces everywhere! The bedrooms we had were spacious, airy and light. Our very large double bed was very comfortable indeed and the bathroom though quite small had a very efficient double shower. Our girls' bedroom was larger but although we had booked a twin room it had a large double futon which theydidn't mind but unfortunately found uncomfortable. Their bathroom with bath was very spacious. Breakfast with other guests at a circular table in the breakfast room was very good with lots of choice of breads, cakes, croissants, fruits, yoghurt etc. When our lazy girls couldn't make breakfast a "takeaway" selection was generously provided for the onward journey. The gardens are lovely, the pool rather small.

I would have preferred our two teenage girls to have a twin room with proper beds. We were there on a Monday and found that almost all the local restaurants were closed, we did however have a very good meal at the Chinese restaurant near the chateau.

There was not hot water in the room. Fortunately we booked two rooms and there was hot water in the second room. Rooms are too much decorated, there is not place to put your own things.

Excellent service; delightful breakfast; lovely room and garden. You couldn't get more French than this....even with Edith Piaf playing on a cd during breakfast.

Your welcome glass of wine appears on your bill at 6 euros per glass!

This is the second time we have stayed. We enjoyed sitting in the garden in the evening with a glass of wine. Our room was good and the communal breakfast was good as always. Parking is also good. Best if one has a little French though.

All the restaurants in Maintenon were closed on this Wednesday evening (1st Aug) due to holidays with the exception of the Chinese restaurant which was not very good.

There was no hot water on the evening of our arrival; the bath did not drain the next morning; the bed was exceptionally low and hard with a very warm duvet for July. The offer of an aperatif seemed like a nice idea before we went out for dinner but turned out to be very expensive. Washing up took precedence over settling the bill and no receipt was to be had. Not our nicest experience of French hospitality.

This place is very charming, however there are lots and lots of knick-knacks everywhere which can become a bit overpowering - almost like staying in a toy shop. If you like teddy bears, this is the place to go!

The hotel was difficult to find as it was situated down a small cul de sac a short distance from the town centre and we didn't have dedicated sat and as the mobile phone signal was poor unable to use google maps to locate it. However when we did find it we were impressed with the look of the place despite the pouring rain. It is an attractive building and once shown our room by Madame, we thought the room was very nicely furnished, although rather fussy with lots of nic nacs positioned throughout the room and bathroom. Madame, although at first rather confused as to who we were on our arrival, seemed friendly and offered us an aperitif and arranged the booking of our evening meal at a local restaurant. So our one night stay seemed very promising.

The problems came when we first sat on the bed. It was extremely low, Japanese style, and extremely hard. We are a couple in our 60s with poor backs and sleeping on this bed was a most uncomfortable experience as there was no "give" in the mattress whatsoever. When we returned from the restaurant at about 10 pm my wife wanted to take a bath. There was no hot water. We let the bath taps run and run but still no hot water. I went downstairs to "reception" to find Madame to ask her to sort this problem out but everything was closed up. I knocked on a door marked "privee" but there was no answer. I rang the hotel number but it went through to answer phone. I went outside the building in the pouring rain and saw a light on a window on the ground floor and saw Madame sitting up in bed reading a book. She look startled when she saw me and I told her we had no hot water and could she sort this out. She looked annoyed at my request as clearly I had disturbed her reading and she told me to turn the showe tap clockwise. I told her that the tap worked but there was no hot water and my wife wanted a bath or to at least have a wash. I suggested that there may be a problem with the hot water tank or the timer and she she shrugged to the negative. I asked her to sort this out and getting rather cross as I was standing in the pouring rain taljing ro her through a window and getting wetter by the second. she did not show concern over this matter or that she would get hp to assist - rather a what do you expect me to do attitude. However she came to our room about 20 mins later and turned on the taps for herself and confirmed we had no hot water and said she could not understand why that was so. She said it would work in the morning and left. In the morning at 7 am the water was hot. So clearly this a was a boiler timer issue. Breakfast was a bizarre afffair around a large circular table in a small dining room reached from across the courtyard through a kitchen.

Nice old style refurbished room. Lovly and very service minded personel. Located in a small city with several nice restaurants.

The hotel is a little obscure from the road and needs a sign at the end of the road on both sides.

Our room the monet suite was very comfortable but a little overcrowded with furniture. The breakfast area was not large enough to accomodate all the guests. There seemed to be a shortage of cups, I drank from a bowl which was O.k because I live in france and know some of their ways can be a little different.

The house and gardens were beautiful, the room was spacious and imaginatively decorated- maybe a little overly "flouncy" for some tastes.Breakfast was excellent and Rosalie very helpful.

Drinking glasses in the bedroom would be useful.

Homely, welcoming

Extremely difficult to find. Its on a tiny street which we missed and drove around for over an hour (our GPS was not working) But guests even with GPS had problems. It really needs a clear signpost

A very relaxing place to stay, but difficult to find

The atmosphere, the decor, the amenities, the charm, the hospitality. Our room was delightfully decorated and tastefully appointed in what we woud consider a typically French cottage style. The furnishings and accessoies were a complete match for my wife's taste and preferences. Our romm was like our ideal vacation retreat.

It was not easy to find. The sign on the main street was small and the gate rather innocuous.

This is a very pretty hotel with an excellent feel about it. Beautiful garden backing onto the river. The room along with the hotel was quirky, but very well sized with a good en suite bathroom. My wife and I stayed here on route to South West France and really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was great and my wife is dtill trying to get the recipe for one item on the menu that was stunning! A great town with good restaurants easily within a short stroll of the venue.

An attractive and somewhat "different" place to stay. We were made very welcome and a problem with the light in our bathroom was quickly attended to albeit with a temporary solution. The location, just 5 minutes walk from the town, was very convenient and the restaurant booked by the hotel was exceptionally good.

It's a little difficult to find on the final approach. Whilst we spoke in French, language may be difficult.

Rosalie was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

It's very charming, and it wins lots of awards for it. But if you're not into antinque-ish things, then it can be a bit much. Family room was of a good size, with a double bed and a day bed with a trundle. Breakfast presentation was grand. Free parking on site, free strong wi-fi. The knock on this place is the value; room was 162 euro a night, and I stayed at similar B&Bs in Bayeux and near Mont St. Michel for 80! and 115 euro respectively.

Perhaps it's just me, but I fet a bit uncomfortable, like a child in a crystal shop. The double bed and the trundle sit on the floor, and although that doesn't bother us, it is worth noting. Breakfast is at one big table with the other b&b guests - again worth noting; presentation was grand, food choices were a bit sparse. The madame is quite nice but speaks zero English, making communication a bit difficult.

Accueil vraiment très sympathique, et très jolie chambre. Superbe nuit.

Réception chaleureuse, bel environnement, déco soignée et bien pensée,petit déjeuner 20/20 . Ne manquait que le soleil pour apprécier la piscine ou caboter sur la rivière.
