I liked the old charm of the place along with the very friendly staff. For an older hotel it was located just close enough to the Notre Dame and the shopping but far enough away that you would not get all the noise. The staf was very friendly and made you feel at home in such a beautiful older hotel.

Very helpful and friendly staff. The hotel has a lot of character and is in an ideal position for access to the city, literally 8 mins walk to the cathedral. Although the bedding etc. was clean the rooms are awful. Certainly if it was the room we had that had been featured on the web site we would not have booked. The bathroom and toilet must have been designed by a jigsaw expert!

The staff were very helpful and sent us to a fantastic restaurant. However the decor in rooms was a bit dated, but had the potential to be a fabulous place. The en suite needs updating.

This was a great location for visiting Rouen - a very interesting city. It is a 2 star hotel, so don't expect all bells and whistles. It was clean and homey - with a sense of 'old world Rouen'. With wardrobes and bed head from pre-war, it was easy to imagine this being used by ordinary travelers through Rouen's tough history. I liked it. So, yes a bit musty and old world but comfortable, clean and well located. Breakfast was fine, and the assistance from the staff was first class - friendly and very helpful.

Really good location, nearby the Rouen Cathedral, also walking distance from the Old Town. Lovely old bulding. Fresh and complete breakfast served in the antique room also add to the nice atmosphere. Town parking available 100m away and please remember about the disount that hotel gives (you have to stamp your ticket and pay at the hotel). Furniture was used and bathroom, tough lovely, really needs some renovation. Separate wc was quite dodgy. We were in room 11.

The unusual, very old architecture and central location. The beds were comfortable and the water always hot. Ideal for our purpose, will go again hopefully.

Very charming old hotel with fascinating furnishings. Excellent location, halfway between rail station and town centre: 5 minutes walk from each. Room was fine and bed comfortable. Some visitors might not like the idiosyncratic nature of some of the facilities, e.g. the bedroom door stuck on one side but had a half centimetre gap from the frame on the other side. And the toilet was very small! But really, these things are no big deal. This hotel is maybe for people who appreciate aesthetics rather than those who want all mod cons.

Good location, 5 minutes from the Rue Gros Horlage and cathedral etc, very friendly English speaking staff and a very nice olde worlde charm. Also very clean Not near any shops for snacks/drinks etc and nowhere in the hotel to purchase. Some of the decor feels a little tired and it needs a bit of a spruce up in places.

Good value for money in a convenient location if you accept some shortcomings due to the age of the original building. A very friendly welcome from the new owner, who spoke excellent English. The location of the hotel is good for main shopping areas, sights, the Vieux Marche etc, and about 5 minutes walk to the Rive Droite train station. The hotel has preserved most of the 17th-century feel and the rooms are decorated appropriately. Our bathroom was almost triangular, with the toilet squeezed (just!) into an odd narrow corner next to the rather large shower unit. The free wifi internet access was good, even at the top of the building. Breakfast was quite plentiful and reasonably priced. Parking in the nearby secure underground car park (Espace de Palais) was easy to find. But we discovered that free on-street parking can be had (if a space is available) at nearby Park-en-Ciel from Saturday 6pm to Tuesday 9.30am. Poor soundproofing. Many of the quite thin doors to the corridor did not close completely and had about half-inch gap in places between door and frame. So, you may be unlucky and have noisy neighbours, as sound insulation is not good. The ground-floor public area (salon) was closed after 8.30pm (when the main front door is locked and reception is no longer staffed). It would be nice on a rainy evening to be able to sit and read, in the comfortable and atmospheric salon. There is currently (August 2011) no bar available. The mattress (newly fitted according to the owner) was very firm to hard.

The young man on reception was very welcoming, his english was excellent, we were offered a local map in English and he drew indications of where we were and where to go on the map for us. The room was a little quirky with a separate toilet and bathroom. There was both a bath and a hairdryer in the bathroom which for me was definitely a bonus. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice and all laid out on our table.

The atmosphere of the hotel was the thing we liked best. The staff was also friendly and helpful. The lack of a liquer license in the hotel was the one negative thing. That robbed us from the opportunity from having a glass of wine in front of the beautiful fireplace in the evening.

Quirky if not quite odd but not an unpleasant experience. This hotel is old and furnished in a style that befits it's age. Our room was spacious without any level surfaces but it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good value for money. The bathroom was small and in need of refurbishment.

It is a cosy, charming old house with old furniture and large rooms. The staff is attentive and helpfull. It is located close to the railway station and only a short walk to the city center. Since it is in a small street there is no traffic noise. I would stay there again. The house is old and therefor badly isolated. But the other guests were very thoughtful and silent.

It is a very pleasant simple hotel, quiet and close to La Musee de Beaux Arts and to the city centre. An excellent simple breakfast. It is old but has great charm and the staff were excellent. We will go back when we revisit Rouen. The bathroom is rather small but for one or two nights it is acceptable. The toilet made a funny noise when flushed.
