Ideal place to start your trip to south of France
The driveway is a killer to get in and out of. Extreme care is needed.
Delicious breakfast, lovely place to stay, wonderful staff. Thank you very much!
peaceful and spacious, cosy and clean room, nice landlady who have us lots of trip advise, great breakfast in the garden
We've stayed here once before, and enjoyed ourselves immensely, so our expectations were somewhat high before our second stay - but they were met and more :-) The hostess Frances is what makes this place so special. She is by far the most serviceminded and welcoming hostess we've yet had the privilige of meeting. Les Cypres offers their guests a homemade dinner (3-4 courses) at a very reasonable price! We were served a fantastic dinner out in the beautiful garden on our last evening! The hostess is a fantastic cook and she and her partner went out of their way to make the evening a memorable one. We recommend everyone to try this!! You won't regret it! She makes the best homemade jams with fruits from the garden - and we bought two glasses to bring home :-) We will definately come back again next year!
Les Cypres is a beautiful B & B set within a stunning landscape. On arrival, the smell of Jasmine captured my senses and the walk through the garden with Olive and Cherry trees filled me with delight. We stayed for three nights and had a truly amazing experience. As a couple, we have travelled wide and stayed at many B & B’s and I have to say that this has to be our favourite. Across the board the B & B excels in every way. There are many reasons for this; Frances is an attentive and warming host, the stunning accommodation finished to a very high standard (I especially loved the Fragonard bathroom goodies) and the beautiful landscape. The space that you are offered, the guest TV room and the garden add to the wonderful experience and to space to plan exploration of this beautiful part of France. Frances goes above and beyond to ensure her guests have a wonderful stay. We were offered some of her home made Orange Wine, Limincello and Cherry Brandy to sample. Francis provided us with a wholesome homemade breakfast each morning comprising of; fresh croissants, pain aux raisin, bread, fresh coffee/tea, home-made fruit salad and home-made yogurt. All accompanied by home-made preserves made from fruit from the garden. There also various types of tea made from flowers and herbs in the garden on offer. What makes this B & B special is that it sources as much as it can from the garden and is very self –sufficient you can spot the allotment climbing the hillside. The B & B is easily accessible from Nice by bus (30 mins) and the maps in the rooms and Frances’ knowledge ensure you get the most out of your stay. The village of Conte is definitely a must with glorious views from the Old Village accessible by vernacular lift. If you want to visit Nice but don’t want the hustle and bustle of staying in it and want to visit the surrounding villages and hop across to Italy and Monaco this treasure is a must.
We didn't stay long enough to make the most of our stay
PARADISE ON EARTH!! Everything was perfect from beginning to end! The room was spacious and overlooked an absolutely gorgeous garden, full of trees and beautiful flowers. There was a cherry tree right outside our window and we were allowed to pick as many cherries as we could eat :-) Our hostess took excellent care of us and was at our disposal whenever we needed her. The sweetest person ever!!! She served us breakfast in the garden, with the BEST homemade jams I've ever tasted - with fruits she'd picked from her own garden. The hostess is English, but speaks fluent French, so it's perfect for both French, and non-French speaking guests. She also has a lot of local knowledge, from where one should eat in town, where one can go hiking etc. She really made us feel welcome and at home and that's just priceless! We're already planning our next trip to Contes and Les Cypres :-) The hostess, her hospitality, the garden (and her fantastic homemade jams) are reasons alone to visit Contes. Next time, we hope to be able to have dinner at the house. She's a chef as well, and offers guests a 4 course dinner with wine at a very reasonable price. We've traveled a lot in south of France, but this is by far the best place we've ever stayed. Thank you for having us - and hope to see you again soon!
Lovely house and garden
Quite a way out of Nice Local village is forgettable A little dated
Lovely rooms and beautiful garden . Walking distance to interesting town of Contes. Also near Nice for day trips
Everything was wonderful
The room and grounds were gorgeous. The breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay here again!
It was a return visit. All the rooms had been decorated to a high standard. The food as normal, was delicious! Very friendly host, highly recommend.
I didn't want to leave!
Very nice and wonderful - garden as well as the room. The host was extremely politely and helpful. The host - Frances - made a wonderful dinner for us wirh all included. Give her an advice if you only want to stay at the gite one day and want dinner served in the garden or in the tv room.
There was no tv in the room.
Wonderful hospitality of the hostess who cooked us a delicious evening meal. Very pretty garden with hens and cherry tree in bloom. Super breakfast with fresh eggs. Nice comfortable room opening on to the garden with seats and tables around. Short walk into Contes. Drive to the ruined village at the top of the hill for beautiful landscape and views over the Mediterranean and across to the snow-capped Alps.
It was a lovely stop with no criticisms
