The hotel room, although no frills, was large, clean and with very comfortable beds. The bathroom was well equipped, inclduing a hair dryer. There was plenty of free parking. The location was quiet but excellent for the town centre (5 mins walk). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was excellent. A french friend who lives in Mirepoix told me she and her husband often dine there. The only thing which could have improved the hotel would have been the presence of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. |

The room was comfortable, very clean and well serviced. The location was perfect..easy walking distance to the beautiful medieval quarter yet with easy access to the main routes out of town. Would have liked a decent croissant for breakfast! Tiny things on two days and none on our last day. But this is a minor grumble and there were plenty of other alternatives. We didn't starve! |

Clean, spacious and comfortable room. Very convenient for visiting the Cathar Region, Carcassonne and Toulouse. Easy drive to Castelnaudary for train connections to farther afield. Good free parking. Close to centre of interesting, picturesque medieval town. 10 euros for a bottle of only mediocre local house wine and very limited, menu options at any price bracket. No daily 'specials' menu for evening dining although clearly used by business people as a stopover hotel. Dogs in dining room. Noisy cleaners in the morning and plastic undersheet to bed. Air-con cut off at night from central control. Opened window gave traffic noise and unwelcome insect entry. |

Room very clean and well designed, excellent bathroom, bed however had plastic under sheet which is not desirable. Breakfast not good, food at dinner not good, no real culinary expertise there. |

The accommodation was excellent: large rooms with 2 beds each, TV, writing desk and ample storage in wardrobe and a lovely large fully tiled modern ensuite with full bath - spotless, The hotel looks as though it has recently been renovated as everything is new and modern. It is located one street away from the centre and the great advantage is that it has a huge car park. It also has a restaurant which is recommended in the Logis de France restaurant guide. We didn't eat there as we preferred trying the various restaurants in the village. The Manager was extremely helpful and although he spoke very little English, I was able to get by with basic French and everything we needed in the way of advice or assistance was fulfilled. |

Nice hotel exactly as described on the site. It's best feature is it's location, Mirepoix is a beautiful town! |

Coming from a castle's superior room in another town, we felt this room was sobre, but we had excellent dinner twice on the hotel's restaurant's terrace. Dinner service was very good, extensive choice of local dishes & wines. The hotel was outside the city center, so calm area. |

The staff were friendly, the restaurant was fantastic and it was near enough to the town about a 3 minute walk whilst not being right in the middle which I imagine could be a bit disturbing on a market day for instance. |

The bedroom was relatively spacious and most comfortable with good air conditioning and an excellent bathroom (with a bath and a good shower). Breakfast was simple but good with delicious home-made preserves. Lunch was very good and the set menus represent excellent value for money. The hotel has a sizeable car park and is very near the centre of Mirepoix. Altogether a very good two star hotel. We shall definitely stay again. |

The Hotel was well located to tour Cathar Country sites. Located in an attractive Medieval town ,the superior double room we occupied was superb at 57 Euros per night with new large bathroom and large comfortable bed. Free car parking.Highly recommended. |

The staff was very helpful, especially since we have a limited French vocabulary. The air-conditioning in one of our rooms was not working and they corrected it as soon as we brought it to their attention. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. |

This a 3-star hotel at 2-star prices: excellent restaurant and 4-star ensuite bathroom. Thoughtfully designed and decorated, ample parking - great value. |

Ease of parking. Nice laid-back atmosphere. Coffee machine in morning made good coffee and hot chocolate which was nice. Bathroom was spacious so two could share without problem. Staff were friendly but not false. Bed was a bit hard for my liking but I understand that you can't please everyone when it comes to beds. The polyester blankets and bedcover were a bit off-putting; very static and clingy - nice cotton or wool or a duvet would have been much more pleasant. |

The hotel Du Lac, an old lakeside sheep farm built in 1599, offers the ideal location to enjoy the Ariège area famous for its castles, gourmet cuisine and lovely walks in the countryside. |
Ideally placed near Mirepoix, a beautiful medieval town, in the heart of the Cathar country, the Auberge du Balestié is owned and run by an English family who warmly welcome you to this peaceful... |
