A small, intimate family-run hotel set in the picturesque medieval village of Gensac, near Saint Emilion. The hotel offers peace and tranquility along with a warm welcome from your hosts Steve and Veronica Parker. The hotel is an affordable and an excellent base from which to discover this wonderful area. Les Remparts is one of the focal points of the medieval village of Gensac, sitting next to the 11th Century Church of Our Lady. Gensac is a small village with a thriving local community who offer a warm welcome to visitors. The village itself is perched on the edge of the hillside overlooking a peaceful valley. The cobbled streets and old castle walls provide a romantic setting. Sample wines and visit local markets in Libourne, Castillon la Bataille and of course, the well known market at Ste Foy la Grande. Hotel Rooms: 7, Hotel Chain: Logis International. Most recent booking for this hotel was yesterday at 11:53 from France.

The location was stunning, beautiful hotel, lovely setting, very friendly and accommodating. Food was good too and restaurant was lovely. Really cosy and hosts were really wonderful - would definitely recommend. We didn't really like that there was a set menu on Sundays and Mondays - although the food was lovely - we didn't have any choice of food. Also, considering that the hotel is in a wine producing region it was quite expensive - 10 euros for half a carafe of rose was a bit steep.

Veronica who with her husband own the hotel was a great hostess. The restaurant was excellent and the position of the hotel with views over the valley was wonderful. The hotel is in a picturesque French village and ideal; for a peaceful stay but within easy reach of the more touristy St Emillion and Bergerac.

We stayed at Les Remparts for four nights because it was close to a Domaine where we were attending the vendage celebrations. Our room was clean and well apointed with an excellent view over the valley. The bed was comfortable and the shower excellent. We were warmly welcomed by the owners and the other staff kin the restaurant and at breakfast were pleasant and efficient. We ate twice in the restaurant as the other times were at the vineyard. Both meals were good, with plenty of choice. The meat was cooked exactly as ordered - not always the case nowadays, unfortunately -and starters and puddings were excellent. We will certainly stay here again if we attend the vendage in the future. A very minor niggle but we were disappointed that dogs were allowed in the restaurant, though they were well behaved on this occasion.

This was the second time we stayed at Les Remparts and the experience was just as good as the first time. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The food is excellent and in on par with any top London restaurant.

The hotel is situated in a very pretty village with a choice of places to eat. It is useful to have staff who are English as this helps communication. Did not like being wakened up at 7am by the church bells.

The welcome, location, room and restaurant were 1st class. We stayed in another 2-star hotel the night before and it was absolutely no comparison with this one. We think it is more 3-star. We would recommend this hotel most definitely.

Pleasant rooms, stunning building in a nice village setting. Excellent food, we had dinner and breakfast, and service. English owners. Pool (didn't use), a good hairdryer (quite rare in France)

Where shall I start! Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, the room was situated in a separate 16th century building, which was beautiful and had a breakfast room. The restaurant was beautiful, great service, and the food was to die for! Best we had had in France! You have to stay here to experience country hospitality!! We are definitely returning!! Linen in the rooms could be updated.

The owners and staff provided excellant service and hospitality. The views were magnificant from the dining room and bedrooms. The food was also very good. I am a vegetarian and the owner really enjoyed cooking different vegetarian food for me, a wonderful surprise in France. The village of Gensac is pretty and in a wonderful setting.
