The building is stunning, being in the old part of the city it's on Roman foundations and amidst a medieval street plan. They've spent a lot on doing it up, but the staff let it down. The cleaners don't clean, the waiters don't wait and the Reception staff sting you for every Euro. There's nowhere to park (the roads wouldn't allow two Smart cars to pass) so the garage is in the hotel basement, down a 1:1 ramp - possibly steeper. Given the shortage of space, we politely tucked our 'bikes out of the way, behind pillars, so as not to use up any car bays. Then they charged us 7€ for the parking anyway. The light fittings in our room were all thick with dust. Overall, including a several course meal with veal, asparagus and the all important Isles Flotantes, the Hotel des Ursullines cost 300€, making it by far the most costly of the trip and by no means the best.

Nice area, parking in the house (for a fee). Reception and cleaning staff very friendly. In the restaurant the waiter (from Holland?) is friendly and efficient. Hope for the best that he may serve you. The hotel is in dire need of renovation (they are working on that): old fashioned furniture (not antique or even antique-looking, just plain old), electrical outlets leave their sockets, aircondition grills hang askew, tileseams are dark, lampshades are frazzled. When entering the restaurant you will be left alone, standing there like an idiot. After a while a waiter asks for your room number and he disappears without a word to do whatever in the next room. Again you stand alone in the restaurant. Finally being seated you get the menu. For 25 minutes nothing happens, not even the offer of a glass of water. Three waiters pretend to be very busy, studying papers and running back and forth doing nothing. Only eight tables were occupied, so that might have been a good ratio for three waiters. We were about to leave without ordering when finally one waiter came over. No apologies, of course. Even though the food was fine: they've got no style, visit any restaurant nearby instead!

The only good thing about this hotel is the food, which is of good quality but unreasonably high priced! The beds are of poor quality and over due. I have not been able to sleep through the night due to a much too hard bed. In the minibar the beer can was over due!

The hotel is accessible, pretty and has a convenient garage. The natural and historic setting is its greatest asset. We had stayed here before, but were greatly disappointed. The room was by no means 'superior'. In comparison with our previous experience, the dining-room looked quite bare and, with the exception of the maitre, the young male staff were unsmiling, unhelpful and unobliging: we had to ask for water and there was no salt and pepper on the table. They lack the right attitude. We were treated as just 2 more annoying customers, not as guests. The food is not exceptional for the price and the wine list is unsatisfactory. The female reception and breakfast staff were better, but there is not a good friendly atmosphere in the hotel. Is anyone in charge? We did not enjoy our stay and would not return.

Its situation near the centre of an historic town. The grounds and elevated position. Comfortable bed. Good bathroom. Long dark corridors. Some areas shabby and in need of decoration.

The location is stunning - the narrow, Medieval streets and terrifyingly steep garage lead into a domestic-sized reception area and then outside into a wide grass and gravel garden with views over the Morvan mountains - a big wow factor! I had dinner in the garden - the food was wonderful, the service impeccable but friendly and the sunset amazing. The hotel was quiet, the bed was comfortable, the shower hot and efficient - all in a beautifully historic building. The huge doors of the unique Cathedral are flung open in the Summer months in the late evenings, and this marvel is seconds away from "Les Ursulines' . The morning Receptionist (female) could have been a mite friendlier (I was after all paying my bill!). This was made more noticeable because the Receptionist (male) on my arrival in the late afternoon the day before, was so helpful and obliging, even taking my case to the room for me - a first in a fortnight of travelling in France.

The Hotel was the cheapest we stayed in in a week in France and was easily better than any of the others. Looking at some of the other reviews I was a bit worried about the room but it was really super and at that price we were both very satisfied.Autum is also a very pleasant stop while travelling through France. The Breakfast was also good and the staff very friendly. All in All I would definitely stay there again.

Very well located reasonably comfortable good staff. Accommodation was comparatively expensive for what it was. Very expensive resturant that gave very little food and although advertised as gastronomic was actually very average. Ok to stay but don't eat in the hotel.

Liked the location in the old part of Autun. The cathedral St Lazare is interesting. Missed out on the gourmet hotel restaurant, fully booked, but the alternative reserved for us, La Chapitre, was close by and excellent. The underground car parking at Les Ursulines is tight and difficult but there is no alternative as the on street parking is very limited. Be prepared to shunt around a little to get into a parking place.

Rooms could be better defined. Comments as "it is always like that on internet" and "legally we are right" are not very helpful. Eventually I got a room which lived up to the description, except internet coverage is generally very poor. The restaurant serves " a la carte " and "menus". While the individual courses are defined identically the actual result is quite different between the two formulas. This is misleading and creates confusion when served at the same table. Even the champagne offered could not overcome the feeling of wrong footing.

The location is superb. The restaurant is good. Having stayed there 2 years ago, we found everything to be rather shabby. Although the rooms were clean, hallways, breakfast room, lobby, looked dreary.

The city which is very historic but does seem to lack the renowned Roman remains apart from the ampitheatre. We were initially given the worst room in the hotel with a lift shaft travelling through it. We were moved after complaining to a luxe room but there was little to suggest luxury. This is a tired, shabby and out-dated hotel that only has it's location to recommend it. Of the many hotels we have stayed in through Booking.com, this is the worst. We were even charged more for breakfast than was advertised and the meal was very ordinary. We did not use the so called Gastronomic restaurant since it was extremely expensive and mostly empty as a result.

Location is great. Everything else. Our room - the ''suite'' - was just ugly, completely outdated. Refurbishment required (water stains, damaged carpet etc...). Staff ok.

Personeel was uiterst vriendelijk. Gratis internetverbinding (wifi) is zeer klantvriendelijke Er was een verbouwing gaande. Dit is op zich niet erg. Wel storend: in een oud gebouw renoveren met kunststof deuren/kozijnen.
