A few miles from the Belgian border, Lille displays Flemish influence in both architecture and cuisine. Its most famous square - Grand Place - is home to the beautiful Vielle Borse building, the Lille Christmas markets and several restaurants serving moules-frites and local beer.
Behind that is the Palais Rihour, a rather odd-looking building surrounded by cafes. In the opposite direction is another square with the opera house at the center and triangular-shaped buildings fanning off in 3 directions. One of these cobbled streets leads to the Old Town, where boutiques and international brands are in beautifully crafted shops.
Shopping in Lille is actually epic. It has Europe’s largest bookstore (the 8-floor Furet du Nord) and largest flea market - the Braderie de Lille. Then there is the bustling Wazemmes market and the huge Euralille shopping center. The town also has some fantastic chocolate shops.
Other attractions include the Musée des Beaux-Arts and the Citadelle – a 17th-century fortress surrounded by a free zoo and gardens.
Lesquin Airport is on the city’s outskirts, but most visitors arrive at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, named after Lille’s most famous son. If traveling to Lille by Eurostar, check out the mural of famous European landmarks before heading to your Booking.com hotel, B&B or apartment.

Lille is a beautiful town.
Lille is a beautiful town. You have not many things to see so it's ok to visit it for 2 days. Not more. The metro is too fast and frequent ( every 0.5 minute) so the movement is too easy. It was good choice.

Lots to do in Lille.
Lots to do in Lille. It's well worth visiting the Anselm Kiefer exhibition which is on at the LaM at the moment if you like modern art. It' s a little way out of Lille, but less than an hour on tube and bus. A cafe recommendation is Paddo on Rue du Cirque - wonderful coffee, cakes brunches and music!

Very pretty old town, lively markets and some atmospheric bars and restaurants. I recommend Le Petit Cour for fancy dining and La Popote (open lunch time only ) for real French atmospheric bistro and great food - both in Wazemmes area. Got around using the Metro which is easy to use or on foot .

It is a lively and lovely city.
It is a lively and lovely city. A great combination of old and contemporary.
Really easy to get around, so many great place to eat and drink. The shopping is fantastic and you could spend forever walking the cobbled streets of the old city.
The Christmas market was lovely and well worth a visit if you can.
This hotel is in a beautifully restored historic building, but the interior is very modern and functional. The area is some distance away from the city centre but it's a nice area and some of the Lille's best museums and restaurants are right round the corner. We didn't have breakfast in our rate, but we were able to order a 'half breakfast' to take to our room (juice, coffee, pastry) which at 6 euros was pretty good value. Lovely staff too.
Very nice and modern hotel in the city center. It has a great lounge area with complimentary snacks, fruits and drinks (except during breakfast times), a gym room and even a small sauna attached to it. Overslept breakfast times so can't comment on the breakfast. The view of the rooms vary, as it has rooms in every direction. This time I had a beautiful view over Lille from the 4th floor.
We liked the close proximity to the EuroLille terminus and the very short walk to the local station to catch our ongoing train to the South of France next morning. The evening meal and breakfast buffet were both delicious and we had plenty of time to wander around the old town between eating and sleeping here. Nice decor due to a recent refurbishment
Staff friendly and helpful.
Property is stylish, clean, has the most wonderful sized and comfort bed! Travel with 7year old and her additional bed was as big as main!
Staff are extremely polite and professional! Breakfast is amazing! Have stayed in hotel 3 times in transit through France and would never stay elsewhere!
Old town is not far and offers amazing food and wine!
The staff, including the cleaners, were friendly. They kindly answered about our requests. The hotel is located next to Lille Flandres station, yet close to the city centre, so the location is excellent for train travelers. The building is old, but the room was nicely maintained. No surprises when you expect a no-nonsense hotel for one night.
Fantastic hotel as in its location in the centre of Lille. Very welcoming staff and very helpful when we asked if they had a room with a view! They moved us straight away! A very comfortable room warm and clean. Bed was very comfortable. I’d recommend the breakfast too. Very good choice and lovely and clean.
Great city centre location for Xmas market and Westfield Euralille shopping centre. Secure underground carpark. Rooms had everything we needed, including a kettle.
Teenage daughter was especially happy with favourite clothes shop Berschka right outside the hotel.
This is a lovely hotel right in the centre of Lille with parking nearby and easy access to the train station and the centre of the city. The breakfasts were buffest style, simple but lots of fresh bread, pastries and unlimited coffee/tea/juices.
Great location just opposite Gare de Lille Flandres and just a short walk to city centre. We stayed in an apartment which was small and cosy but had everything we needed for one night. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
The property is perfectly located with a room above the Great Place. The room was large yet cozy. Even though the hotel was located in the central part of Lille, nights were not noisy. Front desk staff were extremely friendly.
Location is great for Lille old town, easy walking distance. Location was also very convenient to the train and tram station, which was great for travelling around.
Nice, old world charm French hotel, with accommodating hosts.
A truly stunning restaurant - the best meal I have ever had in Lille and a great friendly hotel team. The open area where the bar and restaurant are situated is stunning at night. Piano was playing Saturday evening - brilliant
Very charming hotel at few minutes walk from Lille train station in pedestrian zone in centre of Lille. Pleasant professional reception. Good beds. Good breakfast. Nice bathroom. Great view.
I liked the fact it was a really good spot to stay for two days, and it was very comfy for me in general. Everything was mostly good and I have no regrets of choosing this hotel.
The hostel is located in amazing place of the old town, all the places are easily accesible. I really liked the curtains near every bed - it gives some private space.
