Mercure Bords de Loire Saumur  

Toller Ausblick auf die Loire und Stadt, "normale" Bettdecken, sauberes Zimmer, guter Service, für französische Verhältnisse gutes Frühstück,schöner neuer Parkplatz ( kostenlos), kurzer Fußweg in die Stadt etc.

Die Aussicht aus den Zimmern mit Blick zur Loire ist traumhaft, ruhige Lage und nur ca. 10 Minuten Fußweg ins Zentrum. Fahrräder können in der Tiefgarage geparkt werden.

Ärgerlich war, dass der gratis WLan -Zugang nicht funktionierte und die Rezeptionistin meinte, dann müssten wir eben für den Breitbandzugang bezahlen.

Location is great, overlooking the castle (across the river). Rooms are reasonably comfortable. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Free internet works well.

No restaurant (breakfast only). Parking is very poor - either outside or (payable) tiny boxes in an underground car park. Room trays provide strictly one cup of coffee (and 1 pot of UHT creamer / milk) per person per night, could be a bit more generous. No safe in the room.

We have been staying at this hotel for many years. It overlooks the chateau and the river and the majority of rooms overlook both of these.

My only moan is that you get two little milks on the tea tray. We asked for another two and were told we were not allowed any more. We therefore asked to buy some milk which was allowed and which cost us 1 euro. Is this really necessary?

Good location, close to town centre but in a quiet spot along the river with fine view of the river and Chateau.

Rather expensive (€97 room only) for what was offered.

Stunning views.

I found the hotel to be clean, modern and welcoming. The location is excellent, and we had a marvellous river view and vistas of the chateau and town of Saumur from our room. I was able to park our vehicle outside the door, and it was just a 3 minute walk over the bridge to the lovely old town. The staff were all charming and most helpful and all parts of the hotel were clean and well maintained.

I felt the room was rather small for the price, and the wardrobe space was inadequate. We had only a small amount of clothing as we were travelling by motorbike, but even so struggled to fit it into the tiny space where there were only 5 hangers provided. At the price charged I would expect a safe in my room to store valuables, as we had to carry these with us when we went out. That said - neither of these shortcomings would prevent me from staying at this hotel again.

River view rooms are a must for this hotel. From my room, I had the most wonderful view of the castle, which was the highlight of my stay in Saumur.

Lovely view and easy parking. Friendly and informative staff who were prepared to tolerate my faltering French and help out when I got stuck.

Modern, bright bedroom and shower room. Modern hotel in attractive period building. Position excellent: beautiful view of both river and chateau.

The position was wonderful with fabulous views across the Loire to the Chateau and all the other fabulous buildings right opposite the hotel.The tourist info office was just across the bridge and it was within very easy walking distance to many boutiques, cafes & restaurants.We hope to return one day as Saumur was so beautiful and the hotel was in a superb location.

Ask for a room with a view of the Loire and the chateau!
