Our room smelt strongly of cigarettes, and our neighbours smoked constantly, which we could also smell.

the hotel is an excellent choice for a budget hotel and very convenient for travel to and from CDG airport and around Paris via metro. Staff are helpful and friendly at a ll levels.

whats not to like?

The man behind the counter was really nice. It was also very clean, they cleaned the bed and replaced the towels every single day. It was also very handy that the reception was occupied 24/7 so that you could come in or go out every time you want.

There were to less tables in the breakfastroom for the visitors. We had to wait in line every morning for breakfast.

I liked the location and the fact that it is not noisy. The staff are friendly and helpful.

There is one small thing : I was in a single room and perhaps the double rooms are different, but I would have liked a real shower in my bathroom. The flat little shower head against the wall is not practical, it keeps dropping into the bath. A real shower with a shower curtain or sliding door is needed.

Good location and welcoming staff on a wet night. Very efficient on check-in and check-out. Breakfast good.

Wireless access advertised as being available everywhere in hotel did not work in our room. Available elsewhere but very difficult to log into. Room smelt very strongly of smoke and bed uncomfortable.

Location and room

I got one problem during my stay at the Bastille: I asked in advance, by mail, if the hotel could give us an early breakfast because we had to catch an early train at 7.00. I got an answer that we could have breakfast at 6.30. Thats why I booked this hotel. When we checked into the hotel I asked again, and the receptionist confirmed this, and even gave us the promise that the breakfast would be ready at 6.15 for us. . The next morning I had to argue with another receptionist to get anything to eat at 6.30. We got some food finally because I got angry.

The Hotel was centrally located with great access to Gare de Lyon especially if one plans trips to the outskirts of Paris. There are plenty of restaurants, stores and even oriental massage places for the weary traveller. The hotel itself was very accomodating and made me feel safe.

A comfortable room and friendly and helpfull front desk. Welcomed us as early arrivals with a facility to store our luggage

Possibly the smallest lift we have seen. If the hotel was busy it would have been a problem

*Property location - close to train and metro stations *Had wifi throughout the property *Most staff were very helpful but especially Mark at the front desk went out of his way to help us find restaurants and sightseeing places

*Hotel has very poor sound proofing; *The mattresses are old and thin and need to be replaced.

Good room for the price and location.

As many others had said, it has not been renovated in a long time.

Convenient to Gare de Lyon train station, easy walk (1block) to bus or metro, plenty of hot water for showers or bath, air conditioning that worked very well, hair dryer attached to bathroom wall, friendly desk staff that gave us helpful information, free wifi.

Nice, clean, and one of the cheaper hotels in the area on booking.com. The area and price were our greatest concerns but we also wanted a nice romantic place and I believe it was. The bathroom was beautiful but the shower had some issues which I was disappointed with (it leaked bad at the wand and the wand holder was loose so I had to hold it the whole time in the shower). It is hard to compare because I feel it was expensive but Paris is expensive. All in all, nice fair hotel with a nice lobby, staff, and room.

The hotel was very good value, breakfast ok, and the rooms comfortable. At that price it is difficult to say anything negative. Can indeed be recommended! Soren Copenhagen

The staff provided excellent service including reception, breakfast service, and maid service. I left a personal item in the room; when I realised this error & called the hotel, everyone was helpful in locating the item& providing details on how they could return it to me in the USA.

When I have arrived to the Hotel I talked to Staff Hotel about Handle Door in closet was broken nevertheless in the check out staff Hotel did not know about it. I hope this fact will be not charged in my credit card in order to understand that the "handle door in the closet" was broken before my arrived.
