The view! Ideal location - a short walk to the beach, and although you have to pay for private parking, this was a real boon as Collioure gets so crowded. You can sit on the (tiny) terrace and watch the sea for hours.
Not only no air-conditioning, the patio doors are the only ventilation, and obviously you have to lock them when you go out. I wouldn't stay here in summer. The studio was really tiny - if I'd been a couple, turning the couch into two beds would have meant a lot of furniture shifting.
We telephoned to ask if we could get in the apartment earlier (as the reception re-opens in the evening at 17.00) and the very helpful receptionist arranged for the keys to be available earlier at 14.00, which was very good. The sitting/kitchen/bedroom was nice and modern and the bathroom was quite large and well decorated.
The apartment was a bit disappointing but at 53 Euros per night (in October) you can't expect too much. The worst thing was the awful bed which to make up into a double bed it involves moving the sideboard and then pulling out a heavy bed frame and extending it's legs to position it next to the sofa. Unfortunately, while I was constructing the frame, the whole thing collapsed onto my foot resulting in my toe being painful for the whole duration of our 3 day stay. There's no air-con and, despite us leaving the patio doors closed in the evenings when we sat outside, the room was always full of mosquitoes each night. The terrace is small and needs re-tiling. The potentially pleasant view of part of the port of Collioure unfortunately disappears if you sit down inside the terrace wall but, in fairness, it was quite private as it's not overlooked by other apartments. Parking is available at 7 Euros per night and parking is essential there's no free public parking near the apartment. You are expected to clean your room and drop off any rubbish near the reception when you leave so it's not a high end service apartment.
Location View More spacious than expected
Pool was closed
Location, close to town centre and facilities with short walk Very nice view of harbour from our studio apartment Pleasant and efficient staff Pool clean and inviting Highly recommend for self catering holiday and good value for money
The exterior could do with some freshening up
Great view. Five min walking distance from beach and city center. Very beautiful old town.
Cleanness, old building
The apartment is located ten minutes from the town of Collioure, which made our stay easier for us, as we did not have a car. The short walk into town offers exquisite views of the locality. The apartment has been renovated since our last visit and I was pleasently surprised to find it in pristine condition. The kitchen area was spotless, very well equipped and had everything that we needed for self-catering. The beds...bunk beds and a pull out sofa bed ...were extremely comfortable and the bed clothes were freshly laundered and crisp. The bathroom was also spotless, with a powerful shower and bath. We had an apartment on the ground floor, as requested, and our terrace area was comfortable for sitting out in at night. The pool area was easily accessible on the first floor, and again, it was kept in pristine condition. We also had easy access to Wi-Fi. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful. Lea, in particular, could not do enough for us, organising taxis and printing off our boarding passes for our departure from the airport. We are certainly going to return to Maeva Les Balcones on our next visit to Collioure
The reception are is shabby and in need of refurbishment. Also, there was a tea and coffee machine in the lobby but no facility for buying cold water/soft drinks. The apartment was warm and even though not uncomfortably hot, would benefit from air conditioning
It is a small apartment but I expected that. The bathroom was a good size and shower powerful and all was clean. Linen was polythene packed and clean. The pool was close by..it was 2nd week in June so was quite quiet. Standing on the balcony was a great view (sitting down was different). Kitchen facilities were excellent although there was a lack of cupboard space. I very much enjoyed the apartment, there is a busy road a few meters away but it was not a bother. Later in the summer I guess the lack or air conditioning would have made it uncomfortable. Wifi was relatively cheap and worked well....remember to make a note of your password..you need it every time. If the problems in the red box are sorted then I would recommend this apartment. The town is easy walking distance if you are fit and healthy...it is quite a steep hill. There is parking at the apartment but it was quite expensive, however parking in Collioure is just about impossible. I enjoyed the apartment.
This is important. The apartment was well decorated and well equipped but....the building looked tired, shabby and in urgent need of refreshing. The balcony is a good size but it was in real need of decorating and there were many weeds growing through and around the tiles. Outside the balcony and before a further perimeter wall there is an area of dead grass, stoney soil and litter. It is ugly and detracts from a splendid outlook. When sitting down on the balcony it is just possible to see the horizon of the sea but you are not able to see the bay or the town because of the design of the concrete walls in the way of the view. Outside of the apartment needs an urgent upgrading. When looking up at the apartments from the sea they look smart and classy but up close they are shabby. It is good security to have a locked gate into the apartment area but it would be MUCH better to have a combination lock....there is no way for friends or family without a key to get in. Inside is fine, outside is enough to put you off.
The apartment had been freshly renovated - was very clean and had a stunning view. The kitchen was very well equipped.
The top bunk bed was extremely difficult to access - probably even dangerous for the wrong person. The shower, situated in the bath, should be fitted with a strong grab rail to avoid slips or accidents when exiting the bath/shower.
Gorgeous sea view appartment, very peaceful and well equipped
Good value. Great location. Fantastic view.
Needs a fresh coat of paint. Quite tired looking.
