It’s such a beautiful city and it has wonderful things to explore within the walls. The whole region around Sarlat is beautiful. Sarlat is the perfect place to rest after a long day exploring other small towns or caves in this gorgeous region. We could have spent two weeks here easily. Take full advantage of the markets on Wednesday and Saturday in Sarlat to get amazing food, and of course, eat at a restaurant and enjoy some amazing wine.NicoleUnited States of America - 8.0Scored 8.0

Many places to dine, seemingly pretty much the same menus everywhere except in a couple of higher end restaurants. It is hilly. Sarlat was an amazing town and a great place to visit. Plenty of restaurants and bars, friendly people and lots of history. We could have stayed longer but only to explore the surrounding areas. Will definitely stay again

Politeness and a smile opens many doors, I don't speak French well, but was very pleased at how friendly and polite the people were. I mean all the people not just the ones that are getting some financial benefit from you. Basically, be nice, don't be an ass, and you won't get treated like one. Take a moment to look at how many men these small towns lost during WWI, must have been devistating.

The best thing of Sarlat is the location: It's easy and fast to make day trips to the multiple interesting location in the area. Food offering is quite unified between the restaurants, it gets a bit boring after a while. Very much a tourist town but none the worse for it. Wonderful architecture, plenty of restaurants and local specialty shops, however found it difficult to find anywhere that you could stop, have a glass or cup of something and watch the world go by. The location of the hotel is on a high hill making it difficult to reach. It’s a long walk from the train station. The manager could help new residents by sending them the phone number of the local taxi company prior to arrival. The temperature was in the low 40s while I was here. The rooms were cold.

Wifi was good. We didn’t have breakfast here. So, it was pretty much a short stay but a nice one. If you want to be in the middle of an old town action then the hotel is perfect.
