The very friendly reception. the home atmostphere. the log fires when alight the marvelous food - best anywhere the very reasaonable price, of everything.

Good location, lovely setting, building, gardens etc. Very nice food and staff.

Just a nice friendly hotel in an interesting building and the restaurant was simple but good.

Its just so relaxing the room was great for the three of us we loved it the garden are lovely as well.

restarant needs more choice of food and a childs menu as well. I had to pay 29 eures for a adults meal for my son that didn`t really eat it. that was not good.

L'attention personnalisée de tout le personnel. Le calme absolu des chambres.

Le parking devant l'hôtel et le cote familial d'une partie du personnel( l'autre partie n'étant pas tres souriante...)

Le manque de propreté dans la chambre ( cheveux dans la chambre et douche des anciens occupants, poussière sur les meuble et sous le lit, poils sur le sommier), le resto tres cher pour les proportions, le grand manque d'insonorisation...! Prétention d'appeler cet endroit un manoir... Au plus une jolie vieille ferme

Leuke locatie. Er is direct bij het hotel een manage.Je kunt er heerlijk eten.Bij goed weer ook buiten.Men spreekt er goed Engels.

Het hotel zou beter aangegeven moeten worden want wij zagen de kleine bordjes langs de weg bijna niet.Er liepen veel poesjes rond. Op zich geen probleem maar ze zaten bijna op tafel tijdens het eten.

The character, the countryside, the peace and the friendly staff. It is situated near a nature reserve so offers walks. There is an equestrian centre next to the hotel so it may be possible to arrange horse riding excursions. Also it is only a very short drive to Lamballe. Though there is not a play area for children, there is a terrace and walled garden so it would be possible for parents to have a drink in the evening and watch the children at the same time. The evening meals were excellent. We stayed at Manoir des Portes 3 years ago and the standard of the food is just as good as before. It was at least as good as Michelin restaurants and a lot cheaper as they offer a 3 course meal for 18 euros on selected nights. There was always fish on the menu and there was even a vegetarian choice one night. The restaurant is open to non-residents and locals were eating there which is usually a good sign. A fair selection for breakfast offering a choice of bread, croissants, conserves, yogurt, fruit juice, cheese meat and fruit - maybe not as much selection as some establishments. You do pay a supplement for breakfast. For those who do not speak much French, most of the staff can speak English, particularly the proprietor, who has lived in England for a while.

There was not much I could criticise, but the room we stayed in this time was on the small side, though big enough to accommodate 2 single beds pushed together as one enormous double. The window was rather small and high. It was fine for 3 nights but if you are staying any length of time it might be worth asking for a Standard Room with a French window or upgrading to a Triple or Superior Room. Last time we had a Standard Room with a French window overlooking the garden which was much better and I would certainly ask for this if we stay again. Only the Superior Rooms offer drink making facilities and hairdryer.
