Hotel Marcel  

There was good location and kindness staff. We enjoyed staying there very comfortable. Not far from gare l'est or gare de Nord. So it is easy to go somewhere in Paris.

The staff were really friendly and made you feel very welcome to the city. I will definitely be staying here again.

Excellent value for money. The location is very good if you travel from London to Paris adn you are looking for a nice and clean hotel. The staff was professional and caring. The hotel is 1 min from the railway station and you feel very comfortable. I had a free upgrade and I have really appreciated the welcome. I will definitely recommend the property.

Small hall.

Bright, clean Boutique Style Hotel giving a wow! when entering the bedroom. Super furnishing both in bedroom and bathroom. Bed comfort excellent, linen super white and crisp. Had traveled by train from Madrid, 12 hour journey consequently the bed was a luxury. Would definately book again when visiting Paris.

Early noise from persons in the hotel penetrated the room. Bathroom a little small but acceptable. Would be difficult for a long stay as the bedroom was small and did not have a great deal of clothes storage space for two guests. Could not find how to work the shower spray. After rising a member of houskeeping explained the shower spray was activated by a small push button that was not visable and on the underside of the bath tap. A notice or reference in the hotel bedroom brochure explaining the on/off shower spray would be very helpful.

Excellent room and great staff, everyone was very helpful and friendly. Very comfortable bed and a really modern and clean room. The location is great, we walked to most of the places we went to and you can get right down to the quarter Latin in about 40mins. If you prefer not to walk gare d est tube is about 30 seconds away from the hotel door. I would definitely use this hotel again.

If I'm to be really picky the only negative was the breakfast, its not included in the room price. It was an extra €15 a day, however if you are in Paris why are you eating breakfast in the hotel anyway! This city has some of the finest cafe and patisseries in the world, do your research and eat out whenever you can.

A big surprise in Paris ! Quite well located just in front of the Gare de l'Est, the Hotel offers clean and well-designed bedrooms. Although it is located in a busy street, the silence inside the room is remarkable. I had the chance to get a suite for a relative cheap price (86 €) but I may think that the standard rooms may be a bit small... Helpful staff and even if the check-in is a bit late (1500), they offer to keep your luggage until then (and even to call you if your room is ready earlier than expected).

Additional 15 euros for a breakfast may be a bit expensive ...

Hotel is really central and next to public transport (metro) that take you everywhere in the city. It was clean and it is obvious that it is a new hotel.The rooms are small but we spend all day out so no need for bigger space

Maybe it is not really a 4star hotel..I Would say it is more a 3star plus.Small hotel, small lobby (not really a space to chat or sit with a group of friends) and tooooo muchhhh noisy!!! We could hear everyhting in the morning..doors closing, steps.. 15Euros for breakfast is also too much..in the street you can take a nice croissant and coffee much cheaper.

Great value for money. Location is perfect. The hotel is 1 min from the railway station but the windows are sound proofed and you feel very comfortable. There is a market with vegetables and fruits nearby.

The shower is strange, no curtain and water is almost everywhere...

This new and clean hotel very close to Gare de l'Est

Hotel was very clean and refreshing and the staff was excellent! Location is great if your coming from the East train station as the hotel is literally across the street and the metro is a 2 minute walk.

Just be careful as there are quite of few un-desirable types that congregate near train stations and end up hassling you.

Very friendly and helpful staff Rooms clean, fresh and well designed Lovely peignoir and slippers (complimentary) were a nice touch - although did have to ask for them

Water everywhere after showering, having to mop it up after each of our showers No shower door or curtain and no drain hole in bathroom floor to collect the water that splashed out of the shower tray

Comfort of the rooms, cleanliness

- new furniture, bathrooms etc., very modern (January 2013) - friendly and helpful english-speaking staff - located directly opposite Gare d l'Est - huge TV

- small rooms (no table or chair), however this seems to be normal for the price range in Paris - just one German TV channel, english speaking channels also limited - although January, rooms tended to get quite warm (maybe TV or fridge heat emissions), with no possibility for temperature control. AC not functional (yet).

The sofa in room is very light beige. We had a child with us and she dirtied with sweet (very small stine) we cleaned it. But manager charged us 100 euro to clean the sofa.

Location across the road from Gare d'est Station. New Hotel, clean and modern. Free WiFi.

Breakfast not included in tariff - cost 15 Euro extra for a continental I.E. no hot food breakfast.

-This hotel has the best rooms, very clean and new. The staff is friendly and excellent, they are doing a very good job. I had a pleasant, comfortable and quiet stay in the room. - The location is perfect just in face of Gare de l'Est with train/metro/bus connections

- The entrance of the hotel was under renovation and looked more like a carpentry workshop.It should have been announced at the time of the booking taking into consideration guests with dust allergy which is my case. I was kind of stuck with a non refundable booking. Not too honest! - the reception was a bit of a chaos. - breakfast overpriced! I advise guests to go have breakfast at any of the cafes around, it will feel more like Paris.

Even though the hotel was only open a few weeks prior to our stay, I couldn't rate the hotel more highly. The staff were incredibly helpful giving hints and help where ever it was needed. The room was ultra chic, providing a very comfortable and quite large bed as well as a very sneakily hidden bathroom. The room was of such a decent size providing an ease for my partner and I to have both our very large suitcases open at one time. In all, I could not suggest a better place to stay. The rooms are fantastic, it is 10 steps from a metro line and the staff are only too eager to please. Thank-you for the most lovely of stays Hotel Marcel, we will be back!

This hotel is completely refurbished and re-modernized. Actual decoration has not been completely in the main entrance area and the kitchen is still not fully functional, so the breakfast is continental. However, once the finishing touches have been made (probably in about one week from the date of this feedback). The hotel will be stunning. The rooms are ultra-modern, stylish and the double bed I slept on was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The hotel is very centrally located (opposite Gare de l'Est Metro & train station). There is a small convenience store (MONOP) two doors from the (very small) entrance to the hotel, just in case you need any snacks/toiletries beyond those usually offered.

Nothing at all. However, I am worried that once the hotel has been fully renovated, its 4-star status, might make its prices too high for the medium-budget/business traveller.

Location is Excelent is you travel by Eurostar or cdg airport. You have acess to transport to all Paris. Staff are very helpful. Our room was not very big but it was so functional and comfortable. The design is really good and attention to details are perfect. The hotel does not have many facilities but that gives you so much more privacy. Anyway who wants to be drinking in an hotel when you have Paris outside waiting for you? Loved it!

The staff were great and attended promptly to our needs. The guest relations lady was particularly friendly and so helpful when figuring the metro and other travelling out for us. When the tv was not connected we were moved to a bigger room which had a dvd player. Across from Gare de L'est.

Tv not being connected yet (bearing in mind they were only opened for 3 days at the time of our stay) - not so great with a 6 year old at night. The website advertised slippers and gowns would be provided and this was not available in the room).
