“Decided to book this as a stop over on our way back from the South to the UK.”

The recently renovated Marmotte makes a great base for exploring the old town of Chartres. Rooms are cozy and functional meaning the hotel is suitable for business travelers and tourists. Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and is free of charge and rooms are soundproof. The Chartres exhibition center is less than a mile away. Free private parking is available on site. The food in the restaurant was good quality but very expensive. The bed was clean. The bedroom floor was very dirty down one side of the bed. The tiles in the bathroom under the washbasin were extremely dirty and the toilet bowl below the waterline was black.

It provided the levelo f comfort that I expected for a budget motel. Shower was good. The reception was closed when we arrived at 16.30. We could not pay by credit card for reasons I do not understand, as 11 days previously, we had stayed at the same motel, and paid by card, and had supplied our details on booking! The T.V. alarm had not been checked "off", and woke us at an unearthly hour. This is not good when you have a long drive ahead.

For the price, this hotel gives very good value for short stays. We feel the restaurant menu could be improved and more than one clothes hanger in the room would be appreciated.

Good location for passing through for a one night stay. Restaurant was OK, but nothing to write home about. Rooms were similar to F1, but with a shower and toilet. Good parking. Thin walls, so you can hear everything! Was on a commercial estate, so nothing local to do or see unless you drive into the City centre.

Location suited us as Chartres was only a stop to see the church and surrounding streets. Hotel was very clean. Good service on front desk. Very easy to checkin. Resembled an upmarket version of formula one hotels so we new what to expect. No sound proofing between doors and hallway but if you tire yourself out in town then nothing can wake you up sleeping like logs. Coffee a little expensive but that's hotel prices for you.

Decided to book this as a stop over on our way back from the South to the UK. Perfect for a stop over, location next to a number of eating places and a Macdonalds at the end of the road, however away from city centre. Great value breakfast for approx 6E with juice, coffee, cereal, fruit, fresh bread, cheese and eggs. About 3.5 hours from Calais with a great route North out of Chartres rather than through Paris. Great Value and clean

The only member of staff who appeared to be on duty was efficient, friendly and hard-working, but seemed to have a little too much to do! The food served in the restaurant was good value and tasty. We had great trouble locating the hotel (no sat-nav) as we did not approach Chartres from the motorway, but from the n154, and only found it with help from a restaurant some way away who did not know where it was, but pointed us in the right direction.

Simple cheap hotel for short stop-overs, but unlike many other cheap French hotels, this one was very clean, the rooms/bathroom well decorated and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was a little extra but very good and well worth it.

Third stay here and best yet. Hotel was buzzing but staff were excellent and looked after us very well. We use this hotel as a break in a fairly frequent journey from the uk to our home in France and it is well placed for this purpose.

The staff helpfull with my lack of French language in helping me with my stay at the hotel as they had a better understanding of English (I must try harder and learn some more French when I stay here again).

I have used Marmotte hotels from time to time over a number of years, usually because they are reasonably well located, affordable and one can obtain an evening meal on site. The quality of these meals is generally ok for the price. The staff were extremely helpful and I believe, doing their best, but I have to say that on this occasion the main course of the evening meal was well below standard. I did not complain because I felt this failure had been made up for in other ways, but I shall consider eating elsewhere in future!

Compared with other hotels in the same price category Hotel Marmotte Chartres is overpriced and showing its age. The bathroom looks worn out, the room badly needs new furnishing and redecorating. Breakfast is ok but pricy (they however do have nice emertaler cheese). We went away disappointed, also because of Chartres (not really old city centre and an extremely dark interior of the cathedral).

“When I got out of Chartres train station and started walking along the road Jehan De Beauce was situated on I'd actually already walked past the hotel-this is how close it is to the station! It is also five minutes walk to the Cathedral and other places of interest. Staff were very helpful and my single room was clean and tidy and alot bigger than single rooms usually are. I would definitely stay again.” Dale, London |
