I have said the location, the old house, room are all fabulous, but on a wet dark, cold night we would have liked to see a common room with fire and maybe books to balance the full summer excellence that this property had rightly achieved.
The house was beautiful and the bedroom was a great size. The breakfast settings and room was fabulous, made you feel quite special with the luxurious tableware and home made jams too. There was a pool and BBQ area for alfresco seating in the evenings, but unfortunately for us we had missed the summer evenings and had arrived in the early darkening chilly nights. I am sure that in the warmer season this is a beautiful haven to stay and enjoy, but as the evenings get colder we could not see anywhere to sit in front of a hot burning fire or communal area, thus leaving only your room to stay in. The room is a lovely size, do not get me wrong, but after reading the summer reviews I had assumed a lovely area to sit around in the evenings, maybe guzzling local wines as we were in the provence after all. The couple whom own and run the house are very hospitable and friendly. It is true that they did not speak much English, but saying that my French was limited too, but that did not stop anyone trying to talk and communicate. They recommended some restaurants in the local town and advised us to use the car, but knowing we were going to test some local wines with fine French cuisine, we had already packed a torch with us as we had already read the house was a little out of town. With torch lighting way and allowing the odd car to see us, we did not feel afraid to walk the dark road back. would love to visit in the warmer months to see the property in it's full summer time glory.
