The house was beautiful and the bedroom was a great size. The breakfast settings and room was fabulous, made you feel quite special with the luxurious tableware and home made jams too. There was a pool and BBQ area for alfresco seating in the evenings, but unfortunately for us we had missed the summer evenings and had arrived in the early darkening chilly nights. I am sure that in the warmer season this is a beautiful haven to stay and enjoy, but as the evenings get colder we could not see anywhere to sit in front of a hot burning fire or communal area, thus leaving only your room to stay in. The room is a lovely size, do not get me wrong, but after reading the summer reviews I had assumed a lovely area to sit around in the evenings, maybe guzzling local wines as we were in the provence after all. The couple whom own and run the house are very hospitable and friendly. It is true that they did not speak much English, but saying that my French was limited too, but that did not stop anyone trying to talk and communicate. They recommended some restaurants in the local town and advised us to use the car, but knowing we were going to test some local wines with fine French cuisine, we had already packed a torch with us as we had already read the house was a little out of town. With torch lighting way and allowing the odd car to see us, we did not feel afraid to walk the dark road back. would love to visit in the warmer months to see the property in it's full summer time glory.
I have said the location, the old house, room are all fabulous, but on a wet dark, cold night we would have liked to see a common room with fire and maybe books to balance the full summer excellence that this property had rightly achieved.
The farmhouse was beautiful and the room was spacious and well decorated.
The only WiFi was available in the breakfast room which was closed after breakfast. There was no common areas to relax in when it was raining outside. The hotel is a bit out of town would recommend having a car (we walked into town for dinner one night and had to walk back in complete darkness alongside the road).
Proximity to St. Remy is great. It is a bit to far from St. Remy to walk in the dark, but with a car it is perfect. You are very close to grocery stores and other gems like Les Baux. Monsieur et Madame were so sweet! Madame was a wonderful hostess and breakfast was a nice touch with her Provincial dishes. We loved hearing Monsieur whistle and he does speak English, so that was helpful for us. I would definitely recommend the Mas!! It felt like we were staying with our French family. Lovely.
Not able to walk easily into St. Remy at night (more enjoyable to drink wine). WiFi could be a bit spotty at times. These are quite minor and overall were not a major issue for us.
Loved the bed which was king size and the dressing room.Very beautiful antique furniture.Lovely gardens and quiet position. We were allowed to use their printer and also the lady of the house offered us an umbrella when it was raining.
Unable to converse in English so difficult to have a conversation at breakfast. We did feel quite awkward at times.
1. Nicely situated maison, on outskirts of St Remy de Provence 2. Beautiful old style interior and furnishings 3. Magdalen and her her hubby were the perfect hosts and made my wife and I so welcome. 4. Everthing was spotless and all aspects of our comfort was taken care of. 5. An enjoyable breakfast was served in the breakfast room with beautiful tableware.
Impossible to find any dislike
This is a charming old farmhouse with spacious bedrooms and bathroom facilities. Breakfast is very pleasant and served at a large table with other residents which is a great way to share information with the regulars. It is located about one kilometre from Saint Remy which is a nice walk in daylight. Nice grounds and pool. Ideal base for hill walking in the Alpilles, visiting the many ancient villages in the area and the world renowned vineyards of Chateau Neuf de Pape and Gigondas.
Not a lot to dislike except the mosquitos in September which seems to be a problem for everyone. The walk out from town at night is a little difficult in the dark as it is unlit. Madame does not speak English, but as my wife speaks a little French she was very helpful with advise.
The host is very kind and helpful The house is amazing including beautiful garden with a nice pool The breakfast is superb
The host speaks only French
nice furniture and paintings/felt very comfortable and homely friendly hosts handy location to St Remy good value spacious bedroom and walk in shower rural setting separate kitchen area/fridge/oven for cooking own food
wi fi only in dining room rooster can wake you up early
Happily, we spoke French because Madeline was lovely, but didn't speak any English. The room was charming and meeting the other couples over breakfast was a great cultural exchange.
The Wifi only worked in the breakfast room and not in our bedroom, which was a bit inconvenient.
The home is beautiful, charming and comfortable. Location is terrific for trips to Cassis, Pont du Gard, Avignon - really all over Provence. Saint Remy is very charming with wonderful restaurants.
Mas Lou Figoulon was everything that you would expect from a bed and breakfast in the middle of Provence! This is a hidden gem in Provence and we will be going back there again soon!
Amazing breakfast with the gardens surrounding and terrace above. Not much english but made it interesting.
Nothing, needed to stay longer.
Old family mansion with 4 guest rooms, renovated and well-mantained. The property has a big green territory with swimming pool and a nice terrace. The owners - very friendly old couple that served a nicely decorated breakfast and gave recommendations about local restaurants.
The property is a bit outside the town and we were recommended not to walk back at night and use car but that was not a problem for us. It would have been nice to have cheese/ham/egg for breakfast.
The owner was clearly very proud of her property and derived a lot of pleasure from providing a high quality experience for her guests. Everything was just so perfectly "Provence". The best possible start to our holiday. Very reluctant to leave and carry on our journey to the coast.
- beautifull garden and rooms with old furniture - new bathrooms - very clean - very friendly owners and willing to help - good breakfast
We arrived at Mas Lou Figoulon, parked the car and it was like stepping into a french magazine. A lovely stone house with a beautiful garden and swimming pool. We were greeted by the lovely lady Magdeleine who showed us to our room. Magdeleine does not speak English and we do not speak French. But do not let that put you off, because it did not seem to be a problem. She made us feel very welcome and always called for her husband if we could not understand. It was 30 degrees in the afternoon when we got to the house so it was lovely to cool off in the pool. In the evening we had a walk into Saint Remy de Provence which has plenty of restaurants to choose from. The walk along the main road takes about 15 mins. Our room was lovely decorated with a lovely new bathroom. After a good nights sleep we came downstairs into the breakfast room and was greeted by a fantastic table. Magdeleine really made us feel at home and she certainly gave us the best. A lovely lady who looks after her guests. After (as someone else said) the best breakfast in France we said bye bye. One regret when we drove away. I only wish we could have stayed another night. Stayed 13th June 2014
Mas Lou Figoulon is a stunning old stone home with 4 very nicely renovated rooms available as guest rentals. Our room was very private on the 3rd floor. It was a really spacious air-conditioned room with high vaulted ceilings, a comfy bed and a large bath. Very, very quiet! Our iPad WiFi reception was spotty in our top floor room. Breakfast was delicious and always very fresh and plentiful. It was served in the dining room. The owner is very gracious and friendly; however, because she only speaks French and we only really speak English, our conversations were limited. Pantomime gestures with a few French words worked great! We really appreciated the lovely pool and its serene spot on this picturesque landscaped property and spent the warm late afternoons lounging. The location of this home is an ideal 15 minutes or less stroll into the village of St Remy which, for us, was fun because we didn't always have to drive. A fantastic place to stay!
Fantastic house, impressive decoration and furniture from old times complemented with wi-fi an a/c. The owners franchise to guests a full equiped kitchen with outdoor table and chairs that can be used at any time. The best breakfast in France and a very nice swimming pool. What else can you ask?
Lots of old world charm with this guest house built in 1662. Big bedroom and bathroom with comfy bed, air conditioning and wifi, although temperamental. Lovely secluded garden with swimming pool. Use of guest kitchen with fridge and outdoor eating area a bonus. Although next to no English the host made us very welcome and seemed to know just what we needed. Breakfast table was set beautifully with best china and family silver on display. Lots of fresh fruit and home made preserves. Quiet location just out of town, a good walk for fit people but a short ride for us not so fit. We always found somewhere to park in the main square. Supermarket nearby for picnic provisions.
With old world charm comes creaking floorboards and old furinture. Our room could have done with a bit of an update. We have to watch our sugar intake so the option of meats and cheese at breakfast would have been good which I'm sure we could have asked for, and everything else was so lovely it wasn't really a problem.
Madgeline was very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent opportunity to practice french.
Beautiful historic homestead. Lovely garden, huge room which was serviced daily, generous breakfast. Madame was an excellent hostess. She did not speak English but we communicated very well.
Poor internet connection. Monsieur who greeted us, did not let us know about shared kitchen facilities, it would have been good to know this earlier to store fridge food.
Everyting was very good. The garden and house is very beautiful! Location is perfect. Best value for money.
Beautiful setting - both the building and the grounds. Good breakfast and good location with easy access to St. Remy
Our room was on the 3rd floor - bit of a climb with the luggage.
Beautifil historic mansion operated by kind owners.
