Best Western Masqhotel    

Good location, only 6 minutes to the centre and main quay. Secure underground parking for the motorbike. Excellent breakfasts. Helpful, friendly staff. Large bedroom, good bathroom and shower.

The bathroom door. There is a lack of privacy in the bathroom. The frosted glass door, with gaps around the sides, swings open and cannot be locked. This didn't particularly bother us, but I can imagine it would not appeal to a lot of people unless you were on your own.

The hotel was immaculately clean and tidy, the staff very friendly, breakfast good value for money. Room spacious and comfortable

It is only a small criticism but the height of the side of the bath was high when using the shower and difficult to step over, this was mentioned to the staff and they had heard this before. This could be mentioned on the website because I know they have shower only rooms, or possible step be made available

Walk to train and downtown. enjoyed our stay.

Modern hotel, very clean, good sized rooms and bathrooms, helpful staff, good location in a quiet area but only five minutes from the harbour. Rooms serviced very well, and tea/coffee/kettle in rooms, which is a great bonus in French hotels. Good shower, good hairdryer, bottled water in rooms daily.

They really need to get their food policy sorted out. Breakfast is the usual silly price, so wont make too much of that. But they also offer an evening meal, three courses from a limited choice for a fixed price. This is all supermarket ready meal quality, heated up in a microwave by whoever happens to be on reception, and served on a tray, the first two courses at the same time. This really is poor, presumably done because they have to offer evening food to get their star rating, but it just spoils what is otherwise a nice hotel. A small fridge in the room would also be a nice addition

Helpful staff no matter when we went to the desk! Very new hotel close to station and bar which was helpful. We were given great advice about which restaurant to go to when we wanted to go for an evening meal and had one of the nicest meals on our European holiday! L'enotracte we strongly recommend it.

There was no hot water in the shower, which was freezing cold on Saturday morning 22nd Sept at 9:30am. When you are paying 200 Euro's a night for a room I expect hot water. At breakfast on Sunday morning 23rd Sept at 9 am we had to wait for tables to be cleaned even though they had been vacated some time. The scrambled egg was old and tough.

Hotel although not striking on outside was well run welcoming clean and very efficient. Nothing was too much trouble for all reception staff. The whole unit of the hotel acted together in making it a memorable stay. It was so good we stayed an extra night for which there were only two rooms left. That says it all!

No real bar atmoshpere although in La R thats missing out on the town to stay in.

Room was clean and spacious even with a baby crib. The hotel had the facilities I was looking for (elevator, which is handy with a baby stroller); private parking; room service). The hotel was modern and smoke-free. The location was perfect, near the train station and 5 mn walk from the center. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpfull.

Good quality hotel only 10 min walk to the old port/town. Decent buffet style breakfast (12euros) albeit service when busy was somewhat chaotic. Secure underground parking(8euros) was a bonus.Staff very helpful and friendly.

Ideal location in La Rochelle. Few mins walk from train station and 5 mins walk to marina, bars & restaurants. Our room was good and staff very friendly.

Breakfast buffet overall was pretty good although limited hot choice - scrambled eggs & streaky bacon.

The staff were exceptional very polite and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel has all you need to make your stay relaxing. Immaculately clean hotel and decor very fresh. Breakfast was a treat with so much to choose from the buffet and it was all good quality food. The car park which is under the hotel (8 euros) is well worth it, the lift takes you there from the hotel and so you you have no worries about the security of your car. The wifi being free is another plus. We stayed for 1 night to break up a long drive from the south of France and I would have liked to have stayed longer to make the most of La Rochelle cafe / market life.

A clean and comfortable hotel with a friendly atmosphere. An ideal base for exploring La Rochelle and surrounding area.

Lack of wardrobe space.

I have to praise the all the staff in the hotel, they were all very friendly and extremely helpful. The cleanliness of the the rooms was immaculate. Myself and my girlfriend stayed in the hotel and I got sick and was confined to my room and had to extend our stay. Luckily we had a room on the top floor with a balcony where I could sit out. The staff did everything they could to accommodate us while I was sick, and anything we asked for was arranged quickly. The hotel is located in a quiet area near the train station, about 7-8 mins walk to the centre, which is great because we reckoned if you stay in the centre by the port you wouldn't get to sleep with all the noise from all the activity on the street outside. I would recommend the Best Western to my friends.

Cleanliness, friendly staff, comfortable and quiet. The free WIFI and bottled water were a nice plus. Great to park the car and spend the weekend on foot in La Rochelle. Excellent breakfast.

It was a little pricey because we were there at the height of high season.
