Atmospheric hotel with lovely outside space
The location. Next to many locations.
Graffiti and baseboards could have been cleaner. Smaller details if cleanliness although excellent sleeping. Comfortable bed
We loved the whole Oceania Le Métropole experience, from the edgy location to the shabby chic of the hotel. There was nothing shabby about the staff or the service in the restaurant or the bar - all the staff were very professional indeed. The location, 2 minutes from the main square was brilliant, too.
The car park was a tight squeeze for some of the larger people movers that are in favour at the moment.
Great location, excellent room size, loved grandeur of foyer and ground floor areas.
Small shower. No fridge.
Traditional style, comfort and charm of the public areas. Central location. Good breakfast.
Shabby bedrooms. Noise at 3:00 am from other guests using the pool, which should have been prevented at that hour.
In a very handy place for getting into Montpellier. Has its own car park. Swimming pool.
Everything was fine in hotel but Montpellier is a bit grimy!
Staff Pool Tranquil Clean Good nights sleep Efficient
A part of the shower broke and fell off and hurt my friend..drawing blood on her foot.....The staff acted quickly to repair it but did not offer anything by means of an apology. Perhaps a meal or an offer of a free night (or even a brandy) might have softened the blow.
Swimming pool in the garden
furniture in our room was too old (however, everything was clean)
The historical elements of the hotel are quite beautiful - the overall atmosphere is peaceful. We were most impressed with the staff who were very professional, polite and kind. We had a huge issue with our original room - once we alerted the staff to the issue they acted immediately to ensure our comfort. We were most impressed and did enjoy our stay very much. We were advised that the hotel will be undergoing exciting, significant renovations in the near future. We look forward to another visit and gladly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Our original room was a horror. The foul smell made the eyes water, the carpet stained all over, the bathroom looked as if it was not cleaned for quite some time. This was a huge shock, to the point that we were trying to change reservations at our next destination as we could not stand to be in that room. We explained the situation to the staff who were most understanding and kindly showed us another room which was a HUGE improvement overall. We were far more comfortable and much happier - overall we enjoyed our stay.
Location & the breakfast was excellent. The staff were most helpful.
Room needed a coat of paint & some of the towels were threadbare.
Bathroom lifting and decor not good
Very helpful reception staff lots of effort to help you.
Breakfast staff seemed not happy to help. Had to ask for plates and cups when they cleared our table early. Could hear noise quite easily through walls
The Metropole is a beautiful, charming old hotel, walking distance from the train station. It's on it's way of renovation, let's see how it turns out when in it finished. For our stay of 6 nights we had a big, nice room in the 3rd floor, facing the courtyard of the hotel, meaning it could be silent, except when you have a family above. The (high)ceilings of the hotel musts be quite thin and therefore it felt like having a horde of elephants trampling around e.g. in the morning when you what to sleep in as it was a holiday and in the evening when you trying to fall asleep. The people working at the lobby are helpful but should think about where to place families. And it doesn’t make sense to have a family room in the top floor, except you want to be a family hotel.
Comfort of the room Staff were super friendly Fantastic location
The location, secured parking, big room, the style of the hotel decoration is nice.
The toilet was badly cleaned upon arrival, bath is old and the space between the wall and the curtain of the bathroom is also tiny
Friendly staff Pool good for a dip at end of day Good variety for breakfast
Check in advertised as 3pm. Room not available at 3.15pm when we arrived!!
Great staff and service
The outside area was very noisy and a disturbance in the street out side went on for hours. But I couldn't fault the hotel as this wasn't something to do with them that's why I haven't scored it low
The price, the pictures looked better than reality yet I think it could be one of the best in Montpellier. I have seen hotel de Paris, a hotel very close that I booked in and couldn't Stay so this one is good except for a long stay it's expensive.
Excellent location, beautiful hotel, and well maintained.
Rude waitress; breakfast was very expensive.
The booking claimed that all the rooms would have a mini bar. None did. Not important to some but a deception by either the hotel or booking.com
A typical old style French Hotel. A little shabby in places, but that part of the charm. Excellent location.
Very small shower, which could of been larger with a little thought in its design. Breakfast very expensive! even more if not booked in advance. Just pop out to on of the Cafes in the city
Old world feel, nice decor in reception, great location and staff were nice.
Walls in the bedroom could do with a lick of paint
The staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable. The location was good.
The hotel room was nothing like in the photos. It was terrible, chipped paint on all the woodwork, aged furniture, there were no skirting boards/base boards, just carpet strips glued to the wall. The bathroom was atrocious - rotted/rusted at the base of the toilet. We felt ripped off because the photos on the web show the renovated rooms. Even those rooms were not what I would call 4 Star quality in terms of the decoration, design, furniture, fixtures and fittings etc.
Large room Breakfast Location
Reception staff- when we checked in man was not happy . On check out lady very good Not easy to find - big one way system around town if you miss car park
