The downside was the staff, who fooled us about parking and then were rather rude about it. We came on Friday night and asked where we can park our car - they said that street parking is free on Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. We looked for parking signs to make sure but there were none, except for "payant" written on the pavement. So we double-checked again with the staff, since we were afraid of getting a ticket, but they assured us again that it's free to park that night and on the weekend. So we did, and on Saturday we got a parking ticket. When we asked the staff (a different man than the night before), he became defensive, said it was our responsibility, and that Saturday is not the weekend. We understand that ultimately the parking is our responsibility, but we are foreigners and rely on the hotel to give accurate parking information, especially since there were no parking signs on the street. They gave us false information and then refused to help us deal with it. In our opinion this is unprofessional and unacceptable. They ought to look up the parking info for their street and make the staff memorize it, and if they make a mistake, they ought to help their customers deal with the consequences.
The hotel was in a good location, within walkable distance of everything on the left bank of Paris. The room was small but perfectly fine for tourists, the private bathroom was clean, the wifi worked well.
