near to where i wanted to be the hotel is very run down and needs to be refurbished. All of the breakfast food and drink were cold. It was very expensive for this type of hotel and but for staff the rating for this hotel itself would not be more than 3.

It is a beautiful hotel, light green half-timbering makes it a wonderful example of Anglo-Norman architecture. Rooms are elegant, spacious enough, with abundance of closet space and comfortable beds. Location is superb. Some rooms have balconies facing the inside garden or water. Services of the business center are free. The beach is right near. There is paid parking in the hotel and if you prefer a free one, you may find it on the near by street - 3 min walk. BREAKFAST:In my view, breakfast at the hotel was not good, because of the scares variety. I suggest ordering croissants and coffee in the lobby bar or taking a 3 mim walk to the near by Celebrity cafe or any other place, instead. The breakfast room and the outside seating provide for great ambiance, though. So do this at least once. Spa: Unfortunately, spa menu is in french only, and appointments could be scheduled via concierge only. Even though our concierge was very friendly, he had a difficult time translating treatment details, so we ended up going to a different place. Overall, we had a nice stay, but somehow you do not feel cared for enough for the price. So, this is a good place to stay for its historical value and beauty.

Has an intimate feel as the foyer is small. However, the dining room is immense and feels crowded. Perhaps the addition of a few palm trees strategically placed amonst the tbles would soften the room. The bar was very small and while many "servers" rushing about, the service was disappointing. We sat next the the bar but had to approach the bar for service.

The Normandy Barrièrre is a very exquisite and luxury hotel. As a guest you feel totally pampered. Our room was spacious, clean and beautiful. Nice view on Le Printemps and other shops. We were travelling with our baby of 3 months and the hotel staff made sure our room was well equipped: babybed, -bath and changing matras. We really liked the indoor pool, of which the glass roof could be opened on warm days. But all this luxury this doesn't come cheap... Only "downside": the breakfast was very expensive (€ 30,-- pp). Same goes for the roomservice (€ 15,-- for coffee in your room). We missed a waterboiler and coffeemachine in our room and considering the above mentioned prices: ordering it was not really an option. But outside the hotel are many nice little restaurants and brasseries which offer very nice breakfast menus.

Liked the room and the staff. Liked the breakfast buffet. Liked proximity to ocean. Didn't like being given an awful table next to the kitchen at dinner and being told the other tables were reserved when clearly they were not. We left as the restaurant was ending service- no late appearing reserved diners in evidence. We were a well dressed, French-speaking American couple. I can only assume it was because the hostess heard my accent. In a ace this touristy and expensive, that kind of attitude should no longer be an issue.

The food in the Epoque restaurant was excellent. Expensive. In addition, they tried to add 30 Euros per person per day to the account for breakfast even though we did not have breakfast at the hotel. Although they removed this when we pointed it out, they said that it is added automatically. The massage treatments in the spa are not up to the standard of other spa hotels we have used.

The normandy is a beautiful old hotel situated in the middle of Deauville next door to the Casino and near the beach ,shops and one of the race courses. The staff provide a very high level of service as you would expect at these prices. The room was in fine decorative order and all of the modern services were available. I did not get time to eat in the restuarant but can recomend the cocktail bar. The building is old and the standard room might appear a little small compared to modern 5 star accomadation
