Novotel Paris Gare De Lyon  

I had to check out early in the morning, because I had to take a train early, which is normal: the train statiojn is only 100m away. I was very surprised when, after paying, they told me that they could not give me my invoice because they could not access IT ! I asked than for a manual receipt, but they did not give it to me either. They made me lose a lot of time, and i left the hotel without any invoide, neither IT invoice, nor manuel invoice, and all this because it was not the good time (5 a.m)...

Location. Very close to the Marais and other interesting parts of Paris for an overnight stay, also close to Paris Bercy station, our next day destination.

it has a strategic location in front of the train station, metro, buses, and direct bus to/from the CDG Airport. It is also near Istanbul resturant which presents Halal food, and different services and shops. The hotel offers a free mini bar for executive room.

The Air Condition was not functioning for two nights out of the three nights we have stayed. Also, the Executive room space is not good especially compared to the price you pay.

We were booked in for two consecutive nights each night booked separately as advised when we extendedby a night online, this was explained on arrival so we would not have to change rooms but we were locked out of the room on return from a full day sight seeing and was required to go down to reception to explain, once back in the room it was as we left it know housekeeping had been carried out, we rang reception and asked for clean towels and not to clean the room, second call for the towels and we were visited by three different hotel staff with towels! Also no ironing board and iron in room called down twice before delivery to room, surely an ironing board and iron should be in each room? Travelers cloths need ironing? Pretty poor service because of a lack of procedure perhaps. Would not stay at that particular hotel again.

The location is excellent especially for the train station Gare de Lyon. There are also a lot of shops, restaurants etc close by. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was quite good and all was very clean. The breakfast was not too bad though expensive.

The staff were disinterested, the focus seemed to be mainly on business travellers not holiday makers. These are small considerations considering the comfort and spaciousness of the room. Howver an insoluble problem that they seem to have is with the toilets blocking up. Not sure if it's the design of the toilets or poor plumbing but seems to be a recurring problem. And they're not surprised when you report it as if they are used to it!

Very small rooms, surely it is not 4stars hotels. Totally plastic shower and toilet very bad soundproofing. There are no lock on the doors to shower and toilet, with a kid it is not good. Very very poor service as usual for Novotel. Swimming pool has an open view to the lobby, so if you want to swim, everybody waiting the lifts can have a pleasure see you.

The counter staff was quite helpful, and could speak well in English. In the lobby there were computers with internet access, and each access is limited to 20 minutes, so you would not have to wait long to use them. Facilities were complete, and some were designed especially for kids, so parents need not worry about boring their children there.

Having breakfast in the main cafe(on g/f) was not a pleasant experience at all. The staff was rude, the food variety was limited, and everywhere it was crowded with people. The location of the hotel was also a failure. We would have tolerated the noise from the train station if it was really a close walking distance from there--that, however, was not the case. We either had to go up a long flight of stairs, or go past a foul-smelling tunnel then some stairs to get to the train station. Hauling our luggage between the station and the hotel was a complete nightmare. At night people would be smoking downstairs, and we could smell that even as we slept.

The room was overheated and the air conditioning did not seem to work. The pillows were low grade and cheap, the worst in fact I have ever encountered in any hotel, ever! The bathroom was plastic and small, ugh!

The location to the train station and city centre is second to none. The hotel was very clean, the size of the rooms as compared to other cities we have stayed in Europe was the best, the staff were very helpful, spoke english, as a non-french speaker I thought it was going to be difficult to communicate but I was wrong. The room was very clean, no complaints. Location was the best as we had to take a train to Lyon the following day. Can find any fault.
