This Novotel is located in central Marseille, between Catelans Beach and the Vieux Port, a 5 minute walk from each. It has an outdoor swimming pool, spa and fitness center. All rooms in the Novotel Marseille Vieux Port are air-conditioned with a private bathroom, satellite TV and free Wi-Fi access. The Marseille Vieux Port’s restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine and has a terrace offering panoramic views of the Old Port and the swimming pool. The bar serves snacks and is open until midnight. The location and the friendly staff in both the restaurant and the front desk. The food is also very good. Everything else. It's way below all Novotels I have ever stayed. It's, at the best an Ibis, a bad Ibis. It's more like a Formule 1 with Novotel pricing. Nobody to help you with the luggage. Kids cannot go to the indoor pool, so it's extremely unfriendly. Cleaning staff was rude...very rude. The general state of the facilities are a little outdated and looks like it had been upgraded for the latest time in 1993, maximum. The rooms needed a serious refurbishing and the air-conditioning/heater made a lot of noise but didn't blow any air, hot or cold.

Location made it an easy walk into town. One member of staff on the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is clean, smart and sleek. Most staff on the front desk were unhelpful and bordering on rude. One told us we couldn't park and carpark was fully booked. The friendly member of staff gave us a parking card when we tried again 5 minutes later. Food comes out far too quickly (within minutes) to be freshly cooked. Quality of food is poor for the price- spaghetti served in pool of cooking water with low quality meat. Breakfast ordered to room didn't arrive. Member of staff enquired for us. Asked later and they said restaurant denied knowledge of the order. No one told us this or followed it up to rectify after our enquiry so waited a further hour for non-existant breakfast. When the "do not disturb" sign is on door members of staff knock it on floor to make it look like it's fallen off so they can legitimately disturb and knock on door.

Food at the restaurant; live music at the poolside bar; modern and funky reception area Dreadful rooms - very bland and 'prison cell' like. Bed was on a metal frame box that didnt feel very secure. Bathroom had some awful sewer type smell coming from basin plug hole.

La vue sur le Vieux Port depuis le restaurant. Terrasse et salle agréables, service assez sympatique, quoiqu'un peu amateur, surtout pour le petit déjeuner. Chambre 4223, properté en général très insuffisante, moquette sale et tachée, divan encore plus défraîchi, avec des traces de confiture sur les accoudoirs on hésite à s'y assoir. Odeur persistante d'égouts dans la salle de bains. Vue sur les conduites de climatisation peu engageante. J'ai déjà séjourné à plusieurs reprise au Novotel Vieux Port, sans problèmes, mais ce sera certainement là ma dernière visite !

Chambres silencieuses qui ne donnent pas sur la rue, rare à Marseille. Personnel excellent, vif et rapide, professionnel, discret et aimable. La piscine, le petit déjeuner excellent, la terrasse fraiche et agréable avec vue non pas sur le vieux port mais sur la sortie du vieux port, sur les forts, et sur les grues de la Joliette, mais vue mer quand même. La première chambre qui m'avait été attribuée donnant sur un fond de cour et un tronc de palmier. La 2ème chambre donnait sur les tuyaux de la clim. L'ensemble des parties communes dans les étages est un peu fatigué, idem la robinetterie. Ma carte bancaire débitée de la totalité dès mon arrivée. La marche à pied en pente, l'hotel est plutôt au pharo qu'au vieux port.

La decoration est soignee dans le hall Les finitions sont horibles dans les chambres , le menage laisse a desirer (aspirateur non passe car retrouver des objets derriere les rideaux). Confort loin d'un 4 etoiles

La pomme de douche qui fuit, le bruit le matin de bonne heure, et le lavabo qui sent les egout!!! je pense que 400 euro les deux nuit c est bien trop cher!!! Je ne suis pourtant pas critiqueur mais la c est trop!!
