Dear Manager of Pavillon Opera/Booking, Last Sunday I was on a disgusting situation at the Hotel Pavillon Opera in Paris and I would like to make it known. I made the reservation in the hotel through the Booking website on December/2014 for 3 nights in January. As a requirement of the reservation all the payment must has been done at the confirmation. I confirmed the reservation and paid the required amount. On the last Thursday (15/01/2015) I made the check-in the Hotel. One of the employees in the reception asked me for a credit card as a guarantee for any problem. Surprised I asked: “But it is already paid.” “Yes, everything is already paid, it is just a guarantee.” – answered the employee He got the card and wrote all the information in the system of the hotel. He did not mention anything else. On the last Sunday (18/01/2015) I did the check-out at about 5:08 a.m. and for my surprise I owed 13,50 € to the hotel. I asked the employee what was this debt about and he explained that was related to “city taxes”. After some time arguing about the taxes, we looked at the reservation in Booking and we were supposed to pay 1,50 € pro person and night. Ok, 2 persons and 3 nights make 9 €. The Hotel charged us 13. 50 €, that means 2.25 € pro person and night!!! It was increased 50%!!! We refused to pay because the price in our reservation was 1.50 € and not 2.25 €. The employee was not able to explain why and he just said that was “instructions”. Then, he tried to explain that this tax was increased in January. But as I already wrote, the reservation was done in December and the prices could not change because the tax was increased. It is a contract. I wonder that any time that I arrive there and the price of the night was higher. That makes no sense at all! The situation was very unpleasant because there was nobody to inform us; we were getting late to get the bus and if we kept discussing we would lose our flight.
Quiet hotel with good surrounding eateries.
Good value for money, excellent food, good location, close to the metro, the staff were helpful, very smartly dressed & polite, the room was warm & clean, facilities in the room were good & it was cleaned promptly & well Overall an excellent stay, will definitely return.!
staff was very helpful especially recepsionist Van
breakfast room was too cold which makes the breakfast not very comfortable
Comfort of bed and staff
There were marks on the walls and on the floors - hotel had seen better days!
A good room and a very good sofa, we stayed at the executive room, so we we got a big bath as well, which was nice. The receptionists were perfectly polite and nice:)
the room was bigger at the picture and had a sofa, which wasn't t there , when we arrived, but the rest was of very good quality:)
Nice location, close to Metro & good Indian restaurants around .
Location Size of beds
No safe in room Mini bar only contained water? Moved to a different room which had insufficient lighting
Very nice French Hotel. I stay a lot in Paris for business (4 and 5star hotels), and normally French hotels have rude personnel, small rooms, and are not very clean. This hotel had really nice personnel, good size rooms and were clean. Excellent matrass!! I would definitely stay again. I hope that with the renovation they are going to keep all the beautiful art nouveau details!
Very noisy neighbor.
20 minute walk from The Seine - Great 'feel' to the Hotel - Good to get a location map on arrival
Breakfast expensive - 18 E per person - Lots of other places available
Staff and quality of breakfast
Room a bit noisy (streetside room)
foyer, breakfast room, helpful staff
noisy road and building works
Comfort & facilities of room, location (close to the hop on hop off bus tours), breakfast and the overall charm of the hotel
Loud radio from adjoining room which was resolved promptly by staff when complained of.
The staff and the location
Decor and facilities rather tired . Needs re-furbishing. Bar very uninviting
Good location, near to metro stations.
Close to main street, police sirens throughout the night.
Well positioned Decent breakfast
Deco in the rooms was a bit tired Wifi bandwidth was a little limited
Well located, good size rooms, good value room service breakfast one serving enough for two people.
Housekeeping lacked a little and most rooms inward facing into an ugly courtyard.
Location Friendly & helpful staff
Tatty furniture/ tired decor Paper thin walls/could hear neighbours conversation & baby crying No TV options except news Pay for view films at €10 ...not even latest releases Thin/old towels Paper cups on the seriously lacking "hospitality " tray!! Insufficient choice & quantity on tea tray
Location and staff were helpful.
In bad need of renovation website says it is currently being renovated but I could not see any evidence of that. Also bar.??? Did not sell red/white wine at all!!!!!!
Breakfast was well cooked and you had a variety of foods to choose from. Cutlery etc was very clean so you were not uncomfortable about eating with them. The tables were always well presented with clean, white linen!
The bathroom wasn't clean. The carpets were old and worn. The decor was tired and peeling in places. We asked to change our room because we thought we were in a four star hotel and that the room did not reflect that. They moved us to another room but the room was nearly as bad as the other one. It had stained carpets and the bathroom, again, was of a poor standard of cleanliness. The television although flat screened was very basic with no USB port so we could watch our downloaded movie of our choice, which we had bought with us. They had a selection of movies you could watch. But our tv wouldn't allow us to watch because we needed a PIN number. We had to wait until the following day for a technician to sort it out. Not enough choice of English speaking channels as well. An uncomfortable, hard bed which my husband had difficulty sleeping in.
Good location, clean area. Staff is very professional.
Would need some refurbishment, altough everything was working fine.
Location near the Hop on Hop Off bus and metro.
Clint, (originally from the Congo) who was at the front desk the night we checked in. He scared my daughter by making her feel extremely bad that she didn't speak French and that if she was lost or separated from us, she would be gone forever. He then went on to ask me if I spoke French and I told him a little. He was extremely intimidating to us and his behavior was very bad considering we were checking into the hotel. We've stayed at this property when it was under Holiday Inn and wanted to come back. He should be reprimanded for his extremely bad taste by insulting us.
Good size room with good range of options for breakfast.
Clean and the location is relatively convenient.
Hardware is poorly maintained. 1.air-conditioner was not working during the 3-day-stay; 2. the window could not be opened; 3. wifi was not working; 4. the elevator was not working properly 5. the power socket not hidden by the table. When the hotel staff was informed about the hardware problems, the response was not active, they just claimed that they have reported , but they could do nothing or this hotel is just too old, this is not the answer that customer would expect and accept. Although a discount was given as the so-called compensation, but it 's felt that the willingness for improvement was weak and the apologies were not sincere.
