On the famous Promenade des Anglais in central Nice, this hotel offers views of the Mediterranean Sea. It has an early 1900s-style décor and grounds with a shaded terrace.
Score from 303 reviews Good
Excellent hotel with very friendly staff and most importantly very clean. Nice breakfast area and lovely terrace. Would definitely stay there again!
We loved Villefranche itself and the hotel is well placed for visits to the Jean Cocteau chapel and a short walk from the restaurants either in lovely Rue du Poilu in the old town or from all the restaurants by the sea. The hotel is also very well placed for catching a bus from Octroi to Nice. It was quite a walk from the railway station, tugging our suitcases as we never saw a taxi, but quite acceptable even for two 70yearolds. We were delighted with the view from our bedroom balcony and with the breakfast and the staff were very helpful with baggage, directions, coffre fort etc.
Well, I would always like some brown bread for breakfast, but that's not usual in France. And did we have a hairdryer? Maybe I didn't look hard enough.
the traditonal style of architecture. the rooms were clean and elegantly decorated, we had a room with a balcony and a sea view
there was a garden which was potentially lovely, but it felt a bit abandoned with old faded plastic green chairs and a lack of all the lovely plants which visitors love and expect to see on the cote d'azur, geraniums, oleander, plumbago and bouganvillea, a little bit sad and lifeless. The hotel should make much better use of this garden.
I had only a small room, and small bathroom but it was fine for me as a solo traveller, and the room was clean and the bed comfortable.. the view from the 3rd floor window and small balcony was simply wonderful
Excellent location, and good value for money. A very attractive hotel, and friendly staff.
We didn't like the orange juice and milk at breakfast. Excellent croissants and bread though!
Near to the old town and therefore easy access to restaurants. Very near the bus stop for Nice and located in a very pretty area with gardens and view of the coastline.
Long walk to hotel as the station has no taxi rank. Be aware that you must be fit to stay in Villefranche as there are many stairways and steep inclines leading from the beach.
Location Staff View
Smelled musty Sent me to a dry cleaner across the road that ruined a very expensive jacket.
Extremely serviceminded staff Old furniture and equipment in rooms, but evereything grasiously redecorated. As far as I could see was all rooms with balcony. Lovely garden and lounge Very sentral in Villefrance and easy acsess to suroundings
Great value for money. Breakfast choice was excellent
The bathroom facilities could do with a little updating but overall I would recommend this hotel as good value and very French !
AC was not working
Nice rooms with sea view, rooms with "land view" were old and not very nice. I would not stay there, but in general hotel is good.
No fridge in the room, it is not comfortable and i never even will book hotel without fridge.
Loved it. Beautiful views!!!
For two-star hotel, it was excellent,
The view from the hotel overlooking the harbour. The breakfast is very good. Helpful staff.
The hotel needs to provide FREE WIFI. The bathroom was outdated and there was mold.
The staff were friendly. The rooms were clean and generally recently renovated. You can ask for an unrenovated room and get a good deal. This Hotel is well run and the people were very kind and helpful. There was a laundromat across the road (count what you take and get them to acknowledge). There is a post office closeby so you can post stuff home if you have bought too much . Some rooms have water views. There was no parking but there is 2 council carparks nearby or on street though this is difficult. Tourism office is close as is Chez Betty's bar which is very local and ok for a drink at the end of the day. Hotel was close to bus to Monaco and Nice and plenty of restaurants down the hill at the Port. Its a good solid budget hotel that does the job well.
Nothing it was good value for the price.
Very nice folks.
Hotel which needs to be renovated urgently. noisy, no isolation between the rooms. The elevator needs to be lift up as you can go faster using the stairs which can cause problems when you have a lot of luggage and you may not have claustrofobie inside it.
Location is good although parking the car is very difficult (too few parking places and steep hills). Sea view is very nice!
Isolation between rooms is bad so you have a lot of noise from the other rooms
We have stayed 3 nights in the hotel, 2 of them in the room with sea view, and one night with land view side. Sea view is perfect and well decorated. But during summer time impossible without fridge in the room, strange policy of hotel.
No fridge in the room. Rooms with land view looks old and need renovation. Actually u pay only for location in Villefranche-sur-mer, service should be better with this price.
The staff is really kind and the room is always clean!!
The rooms are very old
Location and Breakfast
Bed is unconfortable, Everything in the room is old. TV is very small and at the far corner of the romm which makes it unpleasant to watch TV. Shower head has no hook to hang on the wall. Must hold the showerhead by hand while taking a shower. Also, the bathtub has no curtin.
The hotel was very much as expected from the website. Rooms were clean, and not a bad size. Bathroom was also a reasonable size (for Europe). Lovely breakfast in a pretty garden setting. There is a self-service laundromat over the road which is handy. Easy drive to Monaco around the water, with lovely views along the way. Rooms were quiet from external noise, but noise from other guests returning to their rooms was a little intrusive. Short walk to quaint area of shops and loads of restaurants by the marina (ask for directions as these are easy to miss).
Limited parking in nearby streets (but it is free overnight). We had a room with a balcony, but someone from an upper floor randomly tipped water over the edge of their balcony so we didn't use ours... The view of the water wasn't as good as we had hoped (was further away than we expected).
