Location, staff, views were perfect, cleanliness, room size was great and had 2 balconies!
Beds & pillows were way too hard! No shower curtain so the entire bathroom got wet with every shower.
Location was excellent, the view was picture perfect, the rooms were very clean.
the beds and pillows were hard beyond description.
The view was awesome and the breakfast cook Michelle was one of our favourite people from our whole 3 week Europe vacation. I liked the way our email questions were answered quickly before we arrived. I liked that the front desk took care of calling cabs and our next hotel for directions. Very good service.

My sister and I booked rather late and had requested 2 single beds but none available. Staff very co-operative, asked if we wanted to go somewhere else. Then they put in a cot at once. Hotel is very close to everything one needs. We walked everywhere, met fun, delightful, helpful people from all over. So easy to catch the bus to Monaco, Eze and elsewhere. Train station also very close. It is a hilly area but we took our time. We were in a front room but had no trouble sleeping. Great pizza place across the road where we ordered pizza, and ate it in the garden of the hotel. Breakfasts were all one needed, lots of variety. You can choose to eat inside or out and the pigeons didn't bother us as they did some. Really enjoyed the croissants and marmalade and the lady who made them. Old world charm. We would return but book earlier. First time there and a good experience. Lovely! Thanks.
The shower was VERY tiny with a plastic curtain which moved with one all the time but water was hot and lots of it. ONE computer which took getting used to as we had to send emails to our families at home. It was rather old but worked. No adaptor that worked to charge my tablet. They had lots but not the right one for me. Will be prepared another time.
Handy location, helpful staff, and very close to the bus stops for Nice and Monaco-Menton
Finding the hotel at night from the station meant a backbreaking lug of our cases up and down long, steep stairs.
Nice view ( I booked a sea view), balcony tiny but usable. Bed comfortable, room cleaned every day. Bbc world news available on the tv in my room. Shower good.
Optional continental breakfast quite pricey at 11 euros. My single room had a double bed, which was nice, - but the space in the room was very small, no space for anything else except an over-large chair and small bedside table. Suggest a single bed in such a small room would have given me more space. Old-fashioned slow 'manual door' type lift to my 3rd floor room, no access I could find to the stairs.
1970s interior , fittings and furniture with a thinly veiled and badly applied coat of paint here and there. Disgusting old carpets. Overpriced processed cheese and ham breakfast with lowest quality juice and bad coffee. Whoever owns this hotel must be making a packet but they are definitely not spending any on there hotel. Should be shut down immediately as it sadly has a detrimental effect on the area.
Bed and bath excellent. Upgraded to bigger brighter room with nice views, quieter, as not on street side, for small charge after 2 days - made big difference to experience. Staff most attentive and helpful.
I was disappointed with breakfast. Without car Villefranche is a bit isolated as buses stop circa 20.00pm and Tourist Office advised against Nice- Villefranche Train station environment later in the evening.
Loved the building & oldness & character of the rooms & the balcony. All the staff except for one young man on one night were great. The location & the view were great & it was very quiet. Loved the breakfast area, the breakfast itself & Michelle who served it.
No free Wifi & one young man at night was unhelpful & grumpy to the point of rudeness.
Lovely hotel with beautiful view. Room lovely and clean. Staff lovely especially Michelle that looked after us for breakfast.
Think the walls are very thin. If we spoke the people next door thumped on the wall. Never had that before in a hotel. Also there was no shower curtain or non slip bath mat. Bath very very slippy and dangerous
Nice staff, good location, was comfortable, but shame it looks dated.... and not in a traditional way. I can tell they have tryed so they get an 8 out of 10 for that
I disliked some things like wallpaper, carpets and the bathroom were just worn out and there was no where for the shower head to hook onto the lift was very small also
Friendly helpful staff, great location, good breakfast, room full of daylight and good views.
The Provencal is perfectly positioned in Vilefranche we enjoyed the walk to and from the front. The hotel is being refurbished, our room was still to be done but our daughter and son in laws room next to us had a modernised room that was bright and airy. We enjoyed our breakfasts in the garden and the amusing entertainment of madame shooing off the pigeons. It was good value for money. Overall we had a lovely stay at the Provencal with all staff being very pleasant and helpful.
The lack of a shower screen caused the bathroom floor to be very wet when showering.
Very helpful staff and lovely rooms.
View was a little obscured but still woke to lovely sunshine
I have stayed here several times. It is 2 minute walk to the sea and the rooms facing the water have incredible views.
My room needed fresh carpeting.
Quaint, well decorated, simple rooms. Beautiful gardens to breakfast in. Delectable breakfasts with home-made Marmalade from their own orange trees. Friendly staff and service. Clean, fresh rooms daily. Helpful service at desk every time.
Having to leave.
If You want to have Your holidays ruined on the reception, even before to enter Your room, be offender and disrespected by the staff go to that hotel. You really do not feel welcome there!!!
Views were spectacular
Nothing not to like
Clean, spacious, modern rooms Great communal areas to relax Lovely breakfast area Very close to beach and medieval town centre
No parking nearby ... had to drive some distance to find one. Can use the paid parking for beach or town hall but they are also 500-700 mtrs away
Excellent hotel with very friendly staff and most importantly very clean. Nice breakfast area and lovely terrace. Would definitely stay there again!
We loved Villefranche itself and the hotel is well placed for visits to the Jean Cocteau chapel and a short walk from the restaurants either in lovely Rue du Poilu in the old town or from all the restaurants by the sea. The hotel is also very well placed for catching a bus from Octroi to Nice. It was quite a walk from the railway station, tugging our suitcases as we never saw a taxi, but quite acceptable even for two 70yearolds. We were delighted with the view from our bedroom balcony and with the breakfast and the staff were very helpful with baggage, directions, coffre fort etc.
Well, I would always like some brown bread for breakfast, but that's not usual in France. And did we have a hairdryer? Maybe I didn't look hard enough.
the traditonal style of architecture. the rooms were clean and elegantly decorated, we had a room with a balcony and a sea view
there was a garden which was potentially lovely, but it felt a bit abandoned with old faded plastic green chairs and a lack of all the lovely plants which visitors love and expect to see on the cote d'azur, geraniums, oleander, plumbago and bouganvillea, a little bit sad and lifeless. The hotel should make much better use of this garden.
Location is very good. Room was clean and well presented The breakfast was good and the lady looking after it was delightful They gave us a late check out even though being fully booked
We paid extra for a sea view and didn't see a lot of sea from our balcony
Excellent time in typically French hotel. Only issue was no shower cabinet just a shower curtain so always a morning tsunami hazard if caution not exercised.
Returning to room was rather concerned to discover head housekeeper was 'dropping the kids off at the pool' in our toilet. I mean, really??
The location was perfect as it was close to the Old Town, the port, the beach and bus and train. The optional breakfast for 11 Euros was great. The room was quiet, comfortable and clean with reliable daily service. The front desk was friendly and helpful. This was a charming French Hotel that we would definitely stay again in the future.
The shower was a bit too small with not enough room to move comfortably. ( at times would bump into the hot faucet) WiFi was only available for a fee.
