Score from 87 reviews Good
Overall, this is a very nice efficient hotel. Staff helpfulness and friendliness in supporting your visit or just answering general questions was much above average, even in English. Good value in the room amenities as well as guarded parking. Modern facilities; clean well-designed and appointed rooms.
Didn't have much success with Wi-Fi in my room. The restaurant became a necessity, particularly over the weekend given the lack of other nearby options, but the wine list was the much better part of the menu and its execution.
Location to the train station at Chalon Sur Soanne made it extremely easy to join up with Viking river cruise. Hotel was clean and well kept. Bistro was very good. Great value.
Comfortable, pleasant decor. Would recommend
Breakfasts and beds are very good.
very friendly staff
poor noise isolation
Across the street from the Rail Station, our final destination after 22 hours of travel from the US. This was our second stay at the Saint Georges... a booking on each end of a four-day bicycle tour of the Voie Verte. From there continued from Chalon, cycling north to Dijon and the Canal de Bourgogne. It is very easy to cycle in either direction from this convenient location on the Place de la Gare. We appreciated the covered outdoor bicycle parking and a general understanding of the needs of bicycle travelers.
Proximity to the Gare. Comfortable atmosphere. We especially liked all of the amenities: covered parking for bicycles, generous breakfast, friendly and attentive staff.
Deluxe double room was very spacious and comfortable. Entire hotel seemed in excellent 'modern' condition.
Great hotel in all aspects. Helpful staff informed us about the town and the best places to see. A lovely town with a lot going on. Lots of bars and restaurants within 5 or 10 minutes walking distance.
We wanted a hotel near the train station but within walking distance of the city center and sights. The hotel was not only in the right location but had a wonderful restaurant for a lovely dinner. Staff could not have been more accommodating.
We booked this hotel as a half way stop over on our way to the south of France. It was our sons 12th birthday and having informed the hotel of this he found his bed decorated with sweets! A lovely personal touch. The hotel is a lovely building set in an attractive square near the station which was was very peaceful. All 7 of our party had a wonderful nights sleep in comfortable air conditioned rooms and the buffet breakfast set us all up for our second day travelling. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
the non-smoking room had very obviously been RECENTLY smoked in.
Hotel was close to train station but was Verny quiet.
Everything was excellent -nothing not nice
Everything, staff polite and helpful.Secure parking.Superb room, everything new. They served champagne at breakfast, not sure if this is the norm.Location is easy to find by the station within walking distance of the historic centre.
Nothing to dislike
Proximity to the railway station. Short walk to centre of town.
Very firm beds
Rooms, Location, Restaurant: As a stopover on our way through France, the hotel offers modern, well renovated spacious rooms with modern facilities. The central location of the hotel would have offered great access to the old town, but as it happened to be pouring rain upon our arrival we resorted to the in-house restaurant, which was able to surprise us in every way: excellent service with great seasonal food and fantastic wine. Overall a great package for a fair price (85 eur for a double room).
(This is just because I didn't want to write "nothing": the wifi access is rather restrictive as the code received during check- in was good for one device only, but we needed to get three devices online, so be sure to ask for a code for each device.)
Not much. It was not our style. Too modern I suppose. Strong colours. No safe in room. I was supposed to be a superior room, but I doubt that it was.
We did not like the two stairs up to the bathroom. Too dangerous. Only one small window to a roof. If open ylu had a lot of noise from the ventilators.
I liked the snappy interiors.
They took away a very interesting wine selection from before. The bar kind of sucked.
This hotel has been refurbished fairly recently and we had a large spacious room, possibly an upgrade, but the whole hotel is extremely nice. The chap on the desk was very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent, as was breakfast, albeit rather expensive. There is a secure car park in which we were able to put our car at a relatively inexpensive rate, given the city location.
Difficult to find fault, but if anything, we do not like the fact that it is necessary to pay extra for breakfast in France. The breakfast was excellent, but so it should be for 14 euros each.
Very close to the station but would have preferred to be closer to the centre of the town.
Front desk staff extremely helpful and friendly.
Refurbished, roomy, modern accommodation - efficient & welcoming staff.
Nothing to report
Excellent as we arrived late in the night by train and the St. Georges was just 100yards away. Then just a 6 minute walk to the center of the old town. Would certainly use it again. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was large, modern and well appointed.
We had room 120 so you took the elevator to the 1st floor but then had to carry heavy bags down 1/2 flight of stairs.
the location is near the train station
The room price is very high becomes of taxes
The staff were very helpful and allowed us to store our bikes in the garage. The food was excellent as was the decor and overall experience
