crazy layout of passages, tunnels and poor signage, even the receptionist admitted it was confusing
kids loved the pool and you could ski to the door- epheenee was great
Carpets in the apartment were dirty on arrival. Dishwasher didn't work well.
Location, quality of apartment, views, pool, staff - all fabulous.
Maybe a bit far from the centre 15 mins hike.
amazing views. Ski in ski out
Not really a hotel but apartements
Kids club was fantastic-thank you Elsa. ESF ski school was extremely good and horse and sledge taxi every day was loved by my daughter. Spa was amazing-had the jacuzzi to myself a few mornings-hot stone massage highly recommended. Restaurants also very good.
The only hot tub was a small little thing in the spa that was more warm than hot. Such a beautiful location should have a huge hot tub for après ski!
Loved the facilities, view, and two bedroom apartment. The ski locker with book heaters was also a welcome surprise. Ski rental and skins school pick up is right on site! Perfect!
The on site pool was very cold and no fun at all. Shame as we'd looked forward to that.
Lovely spacious accommodation with all mod cons. Great location for skiing and all essentials but a wee walk from the central hub.
The only downside was the bar that played very loud outdoor music on Wednesday and Thursday night with 40 or so revellers partying outdoors until midnight. it prevented us and the children from sleeping and I find it very surprising that the Amara management would allow this given that most of the guest are families.
Fabulous views and well appointed and comfortable accommodation.
Slightly away from main resort and a short walk to ski school. Not major issue if children can ski enough to use button lift but more of a walk if not.
Excellent facilities. Free wifi. Lovely apartment. This is the second time we have stayed in L'Amara and would return again. If renting skis use one of rental shops like Skiset Amara as in accommodation. Book on line before you go as less expensive.
It was a short walk to get to main resort centre - not far, but 5 mins or so.
The facilities were good, and the access to the pistes was excellent
Beds and pillows too hard uncomfortable. The walk up the hill first thing in the morning going to ski school towards the centre.
The one level 6 bed apartment, really suitable for baby, excellent baby kit. Space and decor, on suite shower it was just like home from home. Views from balcony, pool an steam room. Underground carpark easy excess for transfer drop off/pick up. Free wi fi
Temporary staff, spa facilities not fully operational, cold water in shared swimming pool, generally capacilty of shared facilities is not adequate for the number of rooms.
Location of the resort, location of the property in the resort, lots of ski rental facilitites around the village, great as a base for skiing / snowborading.
little information provided to warn that most activities shops and restaurants would be closed towards end of summer
The last cable car back up is about 6pm so day is very short if you don;t have a car as it is the only way back.
Staff, Apartment, Views, Looks like it would be an amazing place to ski in the winter. Unfortunately we were there in August and it is so high up and very cold especially when cloudy. The manager even found my diamond ring after we had left the property and kept it for me in the safe until I arranged to get is posted securely....how honest is that??
Avoriaz: I - mistakenly - assumed that is was village/little town in the Alps. It is not; it is a resort run by the same group that runs Sunparks etc. Avoriaz is collection of 15 story apartment blocks (dressed up in wood). So it is a banlieue in the Alps. The only thing you can do in Avoriaz is get out of there or sit in your apartment. It is not worth spending the premium money they are charging you. Staff of Residence Pierre & Vacances is VERY unprofessional and are not at all willing to help - unless if you raise your voice and are very rude to them then they will help. But what to expect if all the staff are teenagers..
pay for hot tub
Kitchen very small. Corridors wet.
Ski in ski out. Quality of accommodation. Comfort. Warmth. Nice big ski lockers. Pool and spa.
Staff were friendly, very nice rooms (we had the two bed apartment), great access to the slopes (but it's Avoriaz so most everywhere does). They let us have a late check out up to 17H which was very nice.
Some staff were quite rude although on balance most were friendly. Pool was very busy at around 530pm. We were there at end of season and two out of three of the hotel reataurants were closed. Our master bedroom was very small but the bed was big and very comfortable
Good location and stunning views. Outdoor jacuzzi was worth the 19 euro for the experience. Ski In ski out location was really excellent and close to ski school meeting point
Clean, modern and well equipped apartment. Staff all pleasant, professional and helpful. Genuine ski-in, ski-out. Nice smaller touches such as the welcome pack with dishwasher tablets, tea towels etc. High price for premium apartment but worthy of the name.
No grill shelf in combi oven; No scissors in kitchen; Only a small freezer compartment in fridge; A small vacuum cleaner would have been useful
Ski in/out straight on to piste Boot warmers in the lockers Views from lounge - amazing sunsets Responsive staff Easy access underground car parking Gym / pool Free wifi / TV / DVD Plenty of crockery / glassware / cutlery Clean, modern, spacious everywhere
1. the room was not very clean; 2. difficult to go around the village with very little kids (3 months + 2 years) as there are no paved roads;
1. room size is very good; 2. location: ski in/out; 3. swimming pool; 4. staff - very responsive and polite;
