Every room is the same but somehow booking.com can charge an extortionate amount for people who book early. We had the same room as 12 other guests at a wedding we were all attending and half the guests paid €99 for their room which is reasonable but we, and many others, had to pay €165 for our room!! We booked early knowing that the hotel would book up quickly and we were penalized by paying €66 more a night for the same small crappy room as everyone else. It should be illegal to charge a different rate for the same rooms while implying on your site that they are different rooms. When we booked online with booking.com they called the two rooms Comfort Room (€99) and Themed Room (€165) which implies there is a difference in the rooms! They were not different and should not be priced and named differently!

My wife & I attended a reunion of my year from University, which was held in the hotel. The meal we were served on the first evening was excellent. The Reception staff were particularly helpful. Breakfasts were very overpriced.

This was a very tranquil hotel, with laid back atmosphere and very pleasant grounds - swans on the lakes, interesting trees and espaliered roses, etc. The decoration inside was on the bizarre side, and we had fun comparing the decor of our themed rooms (ours was Gaudiesque, all hard shiny tiles embedded in concrete), but that added to the charm of the place. The dining space was lovely and mellow, with slightly subdued lighting and lowish ceilings that complemented the view through the glass wall across the grounds. Food and wine for dinner was fantastic, and the kids menu was excellent - a very generous smoked salmon starter, which we got to share, a decent main and ice cream for pudding. It was great, too, that they had no problem giving us a family room for us and three kids - two double beds basically, but it's much better and cheaper than two separate rooms. The pool was brilliant for the kids, but it's not one for serious laps - well, they rarely are. The price for breakfast was exorbitant and we all felt ripped off by it and what you got (apart from people who had got it included in a ferry deal). The staff were at times a little tetchy, like when I took a cup of tea from the bar to my room, but this may have been because there were a lot of us, from England for a wedding, and most of us had terrible French. Minor quibbles really.

The individual charcater family room was loved by the children. The pool area was alss great. The beds were very comfortable. We did not eat in the hotel as it was too expensive and the Bistro menu did not give a good choice. Even breakfats would have cost us 80 euros for a family of 4 which is rridiculous for croissants!

Loved the ambience, the quirky decor in the bedrooms. The restaurant and food was extremely good. Had a swim in the indoor pool which was great after a long drive for relaxing. The park like setting of the hotel with its swans on the large pond and lovely gardens. We didnt have beakfast as we thought the 19 euro charge was too expensive and we met another party of four from the hotel when we breakfasted around the corner who thought the same. A pity as it would have been very nice to have had breakfast at the hotel overlooking the lovely gardens.

Reception staff spoke English, sorted a room with air con and were generally helpful. Barman particularly keen to please. Weird arrangements for dining!. As far as we could judge, the only difference between a gourmet experience and the brasserie was that the restaurant experience enjoyed a tablecloth. If we had been eating in the 'restaurant', I think we would have felt cheated that people on the brasserie menu were at the next table!

Very helpful reception staff, pleasant room and availability to take dogs.Lovely grounds and good food. A little expensive for the dogs for one night- they were well behaved, and did not cause any problems. You could possibly have a few more toileteries as I felt it was a little sparse for such a hotel.

not a lot. the size of the rooms. No airconditioning in the room.No wardrobe or drawers to put clothes just half a dozen hangers. Having to ask repeatedly for ventilators and twice they didn't work and the third time we finally got one that worked!! Even though it was an interesting offer on the internet in realitily we were very disapointed and wanted to leave on arrival but because of the non reimbursed offer we had to stay the four nights.

Very relaxed, excellent service, wonderful food, enjoyable surroundings & eccentric room design - took some getting used to, but fun Shower was in bath, not easy to climb into - would be better as a shower cubicle without bath.

The hotel is set in beautiful surrounds and we were surprised that we could not hear the traffic from the motorway as someone had said it was noisy. We didn't enjoy the food as it was gourmet far too rich, 1st time in a french restaurant where there wasn't any cheese so had to have dessert as didn't have 1st course and that was too rich, although wine was lovely. Wasn't impressed with themed room although didn't book for that reason, just the location

Quirky themed rooms, some quite unusual. Quiet setting, very attentive staff and beautifully furnished. Very expensive restaurant, although Michelin recommended, all drinks at the hotel are expensive, including soft drinks. Continental breakfast is 19euro per person!!

We did not arrive until very late in the evening after an exhausting drive from Cherbourg. When we arrived we were told that the cold water in the hotel was not working and that they would leave us some bottled water. No facility to get coffee/tea on arrival and no facilities in the bedrooms either. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful.

The hotel is efficiently run and generally in good decorative order - although some touching up might not go amiss! Very good food and charming staff. By being convenient for the nearby motorway, there is an unfortunate level of traffic noise - can't have one without the other...

The grounds are superb. The hotel itself is clean and the staff were excellent and cheerful. No twin bedded room was available and the bed was very small. The towels were small, there was no face flannel, no lavatory brush, no bath gel/shampoo, an unstocked mini bar, no English speaking tv channels as advertised. The food was terrible - the fish (monk fish) was bad and smelled and the house wine was disgusting. The hotel does not merit the Michelin recommendation.
