Relais de Margaux - Golf & Spa  

Very professional, effficient and friendly staff. The rooms and the views were magnificent. Coming from Ireland where we have plentiful golf courses, I felt that the golf course was not quite up to standard - but I was not playing golf so that did not matter! The food in the restaurant was gorgeous, Ronan - the Irish senior waiter was so helpful and friendly! The hotel was comfortable but could do with a little updating. We were lucky that we stayed at a sale price through the booking.com website. It was not easy to find the hotel on our first day as the sat nav coordinates turned out to be wrong!!! Overall, we had a very pleasant stay!

Just there for 1 night we really appreciated the calm and relax atmosphere. It's really a restfull place.

The only comment we could make: it would have been nice to have somebody guiding us up to the room, we nearly get lost.

Location was good, we were running in the Marathon du Medoc. The food in the brasserie was very good and well priced. We had the cheapest room(200 eurosper night),and the hotel advertised some good spa facilities which set it apart from many chambre d'hotes in the area.

We had the cheapest room (200euros per night) so we were stuck in the old part of the hotel which needs serious attention. It was musty smelling, dated decor, blankets on the bed that felt like your grandma had died in them, , the room key never worked twice in a row so we had to keep walking back to reception to get it recoded.....not at all pleasant. The rest of the hotel was much better. There was a huge new wing which housed all the modern (pictured in the brochures) rooms. The spa was our main niggle though as you had to pay 30 euros per person per day just to go in to use the swimming pool, hamman and sauna. We didnt go in as a result and it was the facilities that had attracted us to the hotel in the first p[lace so we were rather dissappointed.

Excellent cuisine

negative would be the lack of a place to just relax and have a drink or coffee. Ok while bar /grill was open but sometimes it was closed.

Helpful staff

Restaurant was closed and staff had no idea when it would reopen. Not much choice nearby for food apart from the amazing Le Savoie - best meal we had had for years.

Almost nothing. This is a terribly overpriced hotel which deserves (at most) 3-stars. It is old/rundown, lacks sufficient and/or attentive staff, is overrated, has an inconvenient location. I suppose if I have to find a positive it would be the golf course views. My wife and I agree that this is the worst and most overpriced hotel we have stayed in Europe during our frequent trips over the last 5 years. Travellers should be warned not to stay here. The 400 Euros ($600) per night included almost nothing and they then charged us an additional 42 Euros ($65) for a yourth hostel like Breakfast with bread and cheese (complete with flies). Terrible and uncomfortable bed with a can of bugspray (Raid) in the room. Absolutely awful room for the price. And that is the positive.

We are not terribly picky travelers - and we absolutely hated this hotel. It is an abomination for the price ($700 per night including breakfast) - and is the unfortunate combination of old/rundown, overated, terrible staff, inconvenient location - simply the worst and most overpriced hotel we have stayed at in Europe in the last 5 years. The room had a youth hostel type, feminine napkin mattress with thin, cheap blankets and uncomfortable pillows. The can of bug spray (raid) displayed prominently on our entrance was a nice touch. The location (billed as 800 m from Chateau Margaux) was classic marketing B.S. That distance was to the back wall of Margaux (with a distant view of the back of the chateau) - nothing within 2-3 km of hotel. I could go on and on. Simply terrible. Do not say you haven't been warned. This place is a complete rip-off.

Nous avons apprécié l'accueil chaleureux et les renseignements professionnels et précis. Nous avons aimé le calme et la taille de la chambre. Le petit déjeuner était très bon.

Pour tout dire c'est un sentiment d'immense déception qui domine.Il semble qu'il y ait un affichage permanent ambitieux que l'on ne retrouve pas dans la réalité....Brasserie quasi déserte à la carte ambitieuse pour une réalité tout autre.Service approximatif .Serveurs faussement empressés qui ne savent pas servir du vin sans faire de tâches sur la table....Plats corrects sans plus pour un hôtel qui affiche 4 étoiles...Desserts baclés indignes d'une telle table. Piscine spa à 15 euros: elle pourrait être gratuitecompte tenu des prestations ... Bref une déception que je tenais à vous signaler.

Parfait tout simplement.

Sa situation au coeur d'un magnifique parcours de Golf,apportant calme , détente et bien-être .Idéal pour se resourcer. Sa salle de restaurant est très agréable , Tres bonne cuisine Personnel en salle très attentif et très serviable.

Personnel juste aimable à l'accueil . Pas de service bagages et pas de proposition d'aide.Pas digne d'un 4étoiles !!!

Petit déjeuner "classique" pour ce type d'établissement. Rien d'exceptionnel et comparable à ce que l'on peut trouver dans d'autres hotels de type 2-3 étoiles.
