The Voltaire was very warm and comfortable. The staff were very kind and accommodating. We spent a week walking in numerous Paris neighborhoods, and the location of the hotel (Bastille) was our favorite. Do not miss the "Les Marcheurs du Monde" wine bar on Rue Roquet just a one minute walk away, nor the lovely French restaurant just a bit further down on the same side of the street that is called "Les Coulisses." Also, the Metro stop is less than 20 feet from the front door of the hotel (with which you are never more than 10-15 minutes away from anything). Do not miss the coffee shop (24 hour) 100 feet to the left as you exit the hotel. Go another 50 feet, around the corner (left again) for amazing croissants and all kinds of quality baked goods.NOTE: As travelers we avoid fancy/touristy areas in favor of encounters with real people and authentic locations; we look for decent but cheap housing, and care for excellent location. Wi-fi in the lobby only.

The hotel position is very good. The Metro station is just near the hotel entrance. A lot of accessible restaurants and food stores are near the hotel. You can make a nice walk to Bastille (10 min. walk) and next to the most important touristic objectives by foot if you have enough time. The room was cleaned every day (including Saturday and Sunday) and the towels were changed. The hotel is in a safe area, you can walk around the hotel in the night without problems. The staff is polite and useful. Is a very good 2 stars hotel. If I will come back in Paris I will choose again this hotel. I ask in my booking form a quiet room to the superior floor and I received exactly what I asked: a room not to the street, very quiet, to the 3th floor. The lift is very small, but it works. Can be a problem if you have a big luggage. For me was OK.

The room was cleaned daily, towels were changed, soap and shower gel were available, it was a warm room (we travelled in November), close to the metro station, overall it was a good price-quality ratio. The room was quite small and the bathroom in particular (it had no shower base and you had to shower directly on the floor), smelled like paint, walls were paper thin.

The location is excellent, adjacent to Metro Voltaire. The bedding was clean and room serviced each day. That's the good points. The decor is very dated and shabby, the corridors are tiny and in our opinion would be dangerously cramped in an emergency. The lift may be the smallest in Paris. We were unable to fit two people and luggage: any two people using it have to be friends! The breakfast coffee (from a machine, in France!) was undrinkable. Take breakfast at the cafe immediately outside the front door. It is half a euro more but a world away. We wouldn't go back.

The hotel corresponded exacty to my needs. The location was perfect. Restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, transportation, everything was near. The room was tidy enough to me. Towels were changed regularly, and soap and shampoo added if needed. It was not too noisy althought my room was on the street side. ( I used ear plugs just in case..). I had a little balcony on the 6th floor and I had a fantastic view to the streets and over the roofs. The staff was helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel and of course in Paris. I will surely come back.

The location in amazing. Right next to the Voltaire subway station. The walls are pretty thin and you could hear everything going on in the hallway or in the other rooms.

The localization of the hotel is great. I made reservation to one double room without bathroom but because they were cleaning mine when i got there, they gave me one with bathroom with no additional expenses. The room was big as well as the bathroom. I did not find the shower too small and I think it was a great room for two people who are just getting home after dinner and leaving in the morning. They let us keep the bags in the hotel after check out and before check in. They cleaned the room everyday and change the towels, but in the last day they only gave us bath towels, which was not that a big problem. The room had a tv and it was warm, so warm that we even opened the windows. The price was great even comparing to youth hostel The elevator did not always work and two people barely fit in it. There were only two electric plugs in the room (one from the tv) and none in the bathroom, which is a little complicated when drying your hair etc.. The receptionist didn't speak english, but he was nice ans tried to understand us. We couldn't connect to the internet from the iphone but other costumers were using the internet from their computers.

Access to the Voltaire Metro station and Bastille area on foot. Also, Tariq at the desk helped me to print out an important car rental voucher on the hotel computer. Our room was not clean; there was paint on the drapes which were sagging to to lack of hooks; there were no hooks on the back of the bathroom door or a towel rack to hang towels or anything; there was mold on the grout in the bathroom; outside our one window there were a pile of cigarette butts; there was only one hanger provided. Do not take our room # 104!!!

Great location and connectivity, clean room (we had a renovated one), daily cleaning service, fresh towels every day (even if not required), close to McD, tube and supermarket; silet room with window to the yard (no view though). The staff doesnt speak much English; from what I saw for breakfast, I would not recommend it (supermarket, McD and bakery were 20 metres from hotel).

Good location is the only positive thing. The moment you enter the lobby you understand that your booking was a terrible mistake. It's all old and smelly there. The room was tiny, dark and dirty. Bathroom looked as if it hasn't seen any cleaning for weeks. The subway station is just next to the hotel building, and I could hardly sleep because of all the street noise. Disgusting place! And for this price! I would never recommend it!!!

Metro was literally right out the front door. Voltaire Metro on Line 9. Good restaurants in area - Asian, and Middle Eastern (closed on Friday). Close pharmacy. Hotel staff was very helpful, but limited English for late night shift. McDonalds right next door. No air conditioning, but we never needed it thanks to Parisian weather.

Location was great, right at the Voltaire metro stop. Staff was very friendly. Room was clean. We arived at 10 am after an overnight flight from the us with 2 young children and they let us check in early as the kids were so tired they were crying. The room and especially bathroom was very small and the shower drained very slowly. Beds were not very comfortable.

Nothing - AVoid this hotel. The lift was broken and there was no sign of anyone fixing it. There is no wifi in rooms only in lobby which is the size of a broom cupboard. The curtain was held up by a brush shaft, then went to go to sleep to discover walls are paper thin and you can here every conversation around you. That is only the start of the list I could go on. For a person who does not have high expectations it let even me down.
