The Voltaire was very warm and comfortable. The staff were very kind and accommodating. We spent a week walking in numerous Paris neighborhoods, and the location of the hotel (Bastille) was our favorite. Do not miss the "Les Marcheurs du Monde" wine bar on Rue Roquet just a one minute walk away, nor the lovely French restaurant just a bit further down on the same side of the street that is called "Les Coulisses." Also, the Metro stop is less than 20 feet from the front door of the hotel (with which you are never more than 10-15 minutes away from anything). Do not miss the coffee shop (24 hour) 100 feet to the left as you exit the hotel. Go another 50 feet, around the corner (left again) for amazing croissants and all kinds of quality baked goods.NOTE: As travelers we avoid fancy/touristy areas in favor of encounters with real people and authentic locations; we look for decent but cheap housing, and care for excellent location. Wi-fi in the lobby only.

The hotel position is very good. The Metro station is just near the hotel entrance. A lot of accessible restaurants and food stores are near the hotel. You can make a nice walk to Bastille (10 min. walk) and next to the most important touristic objectives by foot if you have enough time. The room was cleaned every day (including Saturday and Sunday) and the towels were changed. The hotel is in a safe area, you can walk around the hotel in the night without problems. The staff is polite and useful. Is a very good 2 stars hotel. If I will come back in Paris I will choose again this hotel. I ask in my booking form a quiet room to the superior floor and I received exactly what I asked: a room not to the street, very quiet, to the 3th floor. The lift is very small, but it works. Can be a problem if you have a big luggage. For me was OK.

I booked a triple room for me and two my children, just to stay a few days to show them Paris, and for this purpose the hotel is quite adequate. Its location 50 m fro, the metro and within walking distance from Place de Bastille and Pere Lachaise cimetery is very convenient. There are many places around where one can eat. The hotel staff is very friendly. Alltogether, the value for money is quite good. The cleanness of the room was rather average. I booked this hotel partly because I wanted 3 single beds, just that they offered, however in fact 2 of these 3 beds were covered with a double mattress, so that effectively it was equivalent to one double and one single beds. There was no fridge (but for this money it is hard to count on it) and no hairdryer (absence of which is rare even for this price). The room is very small: it hardly fits these 3 beds, with a 20-centimeter-wide band of floor around them. It is ok when you spend all the day in the city and only sleep in the room (which was our case, of course), but not for leisure inside.

Staff friendly, helpful. Convenient for bars, shops, restaurants, McDonalds, Metro. Underground car parking 5 mins. walk away. 49 euros for 3 days. Spotlessly clean towels and bed linen. Comfortable bed Hotel room was quite shabby, nay downright tatty! (bed linen and towels were spotless, tho', and changed daily) And friends who stayed on a lower floor had had their room renovated, so improvements are in progress. To be honest I expected the hotel to be like this, and it didn't affect our stay one bit.

Location. If you have ever watched 'an Idiot abroad' and the travel saga's of Karl Pilkington you will of seen some of the less than salubrious hotels Karl stayed in. Well I would say the Hipotel would fit right into Karl's hotel portfolio. The decor was in need of some serious attention. It had a tired slightly bedraggled air about it. The bathroom, although clean looked like it had been retrieved out of a skip. The bed was a pleasant surprise. It was soft and very comfortable. I stopped one night only and quite frankly that was enough. I would say it is a ok hotel for a short break. The metro is right outside and there is a McDonalds next door.

Price was good, so value for money. Close to Metro station. Breakfast at 6.00 Euros was good. Also, breakfast for children was free. Rooms were clean. Very small lift that barely fits two people, so most people prefer to use the stairs which again is very narrow. Therefore, inconvenient if you have small kids and a pousette / stroller. The hotel is more suited for guest without small children.

Friendly staff at reception, very quiet room (facing the courtyard), decent bed, clean room, everything that was needed. It's in a good location and is just about all you need. Nothing much wrong with it for a cheap hotel. Some noise from surrounding rooms in the morning but not unbearable

Cheap, clean, ok location, willing staff. Hotel undergoing renovation. No wifi in rooms, only in rather small reception area. Lift tiny, staircase narrow and winds round lift shaft - the building, quite nice, was not designed with hotel use in mind! Pleasant stay though.

Well located. Very helpfull, sympathic staff. For the money is the hotel OKay and the staff makes it up. A bit of noise due to the metro in the morning. Rooms are cleaned, not fancy, served the purpose and we felt safe.

Location - the hotel entrance is right by the Metro station Voltaire. If you prefer to have a walk, you can reach Place de la Bastille in 20 minutes. I suppose we shouldn't have had high expectations for the price (65 euro/double), but still: - the first room we were checked in was filthy. The heating was not working. We asked for another room. - the second one was somewhat larger (in the sense that we could move around and not step over luggage) and the heating was working properly. - the level of cleanliness was below imagination - the walls had not been cleaned in decades and were full of mould. In fact mould was everywhere. - there were no carpets on the floors (I'm not sure if that's a bad thing since carpets would have only accumulated more dirt) - although we left the towels on floor, to be changed, I'm sure that, at least once, they just picked it up and placed it on the hanger - all the above aside, the bed sheets looked fairly clean and the water was running properly.

The location is very very good you literally just have to walk 10 steps to be on the metro, there is a mcdonalds, a bunch of restaurants, a bakery and a supermarket that is open until 3am (but is more expensive) on a 50meters radius THE HOTEL/STAFF we arrived before the check-in time but we could leave our luggage in there. the staff were very nice and very helpful THE ROOM looked clean and with fresh towels both hands and shower. the weather was terrible very very very cold, but inside the room the temperature was amazing, very confortable The room I didnt like the shower its too tiny I am average guy with 1,83m and 75kg and I couldnt maneuver properly without hitting constantly the 'curtain' it has a window that only have one curtain and none blinds OVERALL we were looking for a good cheap hotel good located with a private bathroom, and we were satisfied. if
