This hotel with a wine cellar is set in a garden in the heart of the vineyards of Champagne.
Score from 181 reviews Excellent
Domaine Sacret is located in Ay, only 2 km from Epernay. The elegant-style guest house features a terrace and a large, communal lounge with billiard, a bar and a TV.
Score from 33 reviews Wonderful
It was wonderful being greeted with a glass of champagne and a madeleine. The room was spacious and had an amazing view of the vineyards. The location was perfect for visiting Epernay and Hautevillers.
You could hear the people in the room above us constantly walking around.
Picture perfect hotel, atop a hill, overlooking hundreds of acres of the finest champagne grapevines anywhere on earth.
Wonderful reception with a glass of champagne and very friendly attitude. Food good.
Price of a glass of champagne at dinner...18 euros! The expensive food was superb, but close examination of the attractive menu revealed there was actually very little choice.
I liked the location, the décor of the room, the view from the room terrace, the peacefulness, the luxury.
I didn't like being offered a glass of champagne on our arrival and then finding the cost of it on my bill at the end. A complimentary glass, as it was implied, should be given considering the vast expense of the accommodation! The breakfast is not good value for money and the service at breakfast is terrible.
The hotel is dated and in desperate need of refurbishment. The staff were untidy and our waiter was full of cold. The lounge was not available for pre-dinner drinks and was tired. The chess set was incomplete so champagne corks were used for some playing pieces.
The room was very good
The fact that the hotel did not advise us prior to our stay that they had no chef and the menu was a buffet and very expensive for what it was I would have appreciated an email advising us prior to arriving we would have cancelled our booking which is why we probably were not told I will never stay at this hotel again and I intend to advise relais and chateau of our disapointment
The view from our room was spectacular
The toilet was the other side of the suite from the bathroom with no hand basin. The lights in the bathroom go out if you are more than a few minutes in the shower.
Our stay exceeded our expectations by far, after we had taken too much note, perhaps, of some negative reviews. The service from all departments was unfailingly courteous, friendly and efficient. The cuisine was superb. As for our room, it was splendid! as was the view from it. Here's to our next visit.
The price of breakfast, which we did not order; but we know that that is to be expected in French hotels.
The views were amazing.
The restaurant was closed. We were booked into the restaurant on the day of our arrival but it was closed. They said they emailed us to tell us two days before. They had our correct email address but put it in incorrectly. They would surely have got an undelivered message. Why did they not act on it. They ring around a number of places to book us in but they were full - what do you expect on a Saturday night I wondered??? Eventually they found a place for us to go to. A very stressful start to what I thought was a perfect weekend where I has organized everything in advance for my husband's 50th birthday.
Despite the restaurant not operating as normal, the hotel manager gave us a package of benefits which helped to make up for the inconvenience of not being able to propose in their restaurant. He also sorted out a table at the 2 Michelin star restaurant at Les Gruyeres in Reims which is where I ended up making the proposal. Les Gruyeres turned out to be the best meal I ever had and my future wife said yes! The room at Le Royal Champagne was a suite which was incredible along with the stunning views. Champagne breakfasts were very pleasant. The staff were first class and the whole experience was tremendous. I would repeat in future and recommend it to others for a special experience in Champagne, France over looking vineyards owned by Dom Perignon and Moet and Chandon.
The hotel had changed ownership from Baglioni Hotels to some American investors. For the weekend where I was going to propose in their restaurant on Sat 23rd August, they suddenly called me on Friday to say they had technical problems and that the restaurant was out of action from Thursday to the following week over a bank holiday weekend! It threw my whole plans intro disarray at the last minute! Most stressful and inconvenient. I felt the hotel could have made a huge effort to make hot meals somehow through emergency repairs or gas stoves to at least cook hot breakfasts? To be a truly top hotel, I feel a swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym, spa and tennis court would make needed additions.
the location is too old, it needs a review. we booked a table in the restaurant for dinner and we know only in the evening of our arrival that the restaurant was closed. They suggested a restaurant in the near city and was awful.
Fantastic room with a wonderful view and terrace. The room is absolutely wonderful, one of the best hotels I have stayed at.
We forgot something in the room after having checked out and left. After sending the hotel an email the staff claimed that the maid did not find it which I think is really bad considering the type of hotel this is and the prices. Fire alarm went on very early in the morning because of electric failure and we didnät receive any apology from the hotel staff. Very pricy. Breakfast is 30 EUR. per person.
Good staff attitude whilst battling against ownership greed.
The hotel is undergoing a significant change in management and catering staff and should be closed until this is satisfactorily addressed . An offer of two welcoming glasses of Champagne at reception whilst checking in , should not then be added to the final bill at a cost of Euros 14. The kitchens were closed and the extremely poor quality room service cold platter and continental breakfast could have been bettered in a supermarket cafeteria , for a quarter of the price .
The main reason for staying here is of course, the proximity to the champagne houses and Caves, so the location is excellent. The view from the little balcony in our room was superb - looking down towards Epernay over square miles, filled with beautifully laid out and tended vineyards. The room was well furnished, the bed was good and comfortable and the mini bar well stocked. The bathroom was also well appointed. Breakfast was buffet style and plentiful.
Everything was lovely - the only issue we were aware of was that the kitchen was experiencing technical difficulties which meant that the restaurant was not open for the evenings we were there. However, it didn't really effect us, as we had chosen to eat out in Epernay anyway.
servis, old, smell in the bath room
This is a fabulous hotel in a lovely location with a great view. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable and well-appointed. The staff were very good and helpful and the price negotiated via booking.com made it a very good place to stay.
I think that where it fell down was with the food and dining facilities. Firstly, the bar area was pretty dead although very comfortable. I think they preferred you to have your aperitif at your dining table. It wasn't all that big either: several people were unable to dine in this main dining room. The menu was not very extensive but fairly expensive and not actually all that fantastic. The wine list was pretty dear too. Breakfast was also expensive and average.
We had a lovely spacious room and bathroom. Very comfortable. Staff friendly and easy parking.
Breakfast very expensive. As we stayed on a Monday when the restaurant was closed (in August!!), this seems an uncommercial approach to guests, especially as we probably paid the going rate for the room.
Everything is superb !! Amazing hotel, brilliant cheese board. Awesome.
Nothing to dislike.
The view was amazing. One of the quitest hotels we have ever stayed in.
Wonderful hotel! Service is excellent! It is a very romantic place! Greeting with a glass of champagne! Goodbye present for the road! Real squeeze orange juice !!! Never before offered not even Four Season and Ritz Carlton... Cannot wait to return!
We thought the people were excellent, an the hotel superb! Many thanks, Stephen & Jane
Perhaps the service over our evening meal was rather slow - a very small thing really...
It's amazing to live in the middle of the Moët & Chandon's vineyards. For a 2-3 days Hotel Champagne is a great place to stay. Amazing staff that are very helpful and lots of champagne :)
The restaurant is a bit overpriced, the breakfast is great but the dinner restaurant tries to be something it isn't. They should lower the ambitions and prices.
The stunning view of the vineyards, the excellent food, the helpfull staff. This is a wonderful place!
Well it's expensive, that's about it
Great views from one of the newly refurbished rooms in the newer part of the hotel overlooking the vineyards.
Via reception we booked a table overlooking the vineyard in the restaurant for dinner at 8pm. We arrived at 8.15pm to be told the only table available was in a dark corner in the back of the restaurant. When we questioned why our table had been given away we received a shrug of the shoulders! We were then offered the option of waiting for another table. An hour and fifteen minutes later we were still waiting so abandoned dinner! Nearby towns were deserted so no alternatives there so we went to bed hungry. Probably good for our wallet and waistline but not what we'd hoped for on our special time away.
The view from the room and location.we enjoyed our dinner but on reflection the hotel is to pricey for what it offers.
The restaurant is closed on Mondays for dinner. We were told tea was available in the lounge every day but when we asked on the Monday we stayed were told, no tea on Mondays. It was a wet miserable day so were were unable to get a hot drink until the next morning. The steps leading to the restaurant are dangerous and should be changed quickly. The first breakfast one cup was badly chipped and on the second one cup was cracked and leaked the coffee. There is no pool or other leisure facilities.we lated stayed at this hotel about 15 years ago, it has not kept up with what is expected of a 5star hotel today.
