The Hotel de Lutèce, in a beautiful 17th-century building, is on the Ile Saint-Louis, just a 10 minute walk from the Panthéon and the Georges Pompidou Centre.
Score from 183 reviews Very good
This hotel is on Paris’s Left Bank, less than a quarter mile from Notre Dame Cathedral and a 25 minute walk from the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay museums. Some rooms feature views of the cathedral.

Very tasteful décor. I can see they are struggling with an old building on a budget, and they are doing a good job.
The first morning, the cook was too lazy to make me scrambled eggs (which were on the menu at an extra 3 Euro, which I was charged). Instead, she mashed the hard boiled eggs (included in the basic menu) and reheated them. Pretty shabby! And I didn't know I had been shafted until on the last day my partner ordered scrambled eggs, and he got the real thing! No complimentary bottled drinking water in the rooms, which always irks me. Even if the tap water is considered safe by the locals, the traveler does not know this, and offering a bit of "peace of mind" via bottled water would be nice. A bit of old fashioned French attitude also irked me when they wanted to argue with me about a bit of miscommunication about keys, funnily enough also initiated by the cook. They seemed rule driven rather than service driven if anything deviated from the norm.
Beautiful and spotlessly clean rooms. Notre Dame 3 minutes walk away. Good connection to Gare du Nord by RER train for Eurostar trains to London.
The location is perfect--close to metro lines but with a real "local"feel. Almost like being a Parisienne.
The rooms a small--not unexpected but if you are traveling with large bags you will be crampted
Super friendly staff helpful that they spoke good English. Nice breakfast.
Bed in "persons with disabilities" room wasn't great. (even though we weren't disabled but this was on the first floor and made it super easy to come and go especially for several times when we needed to rush back for the hotel for a quick moment)
Good location and staff was very nice.
The room was laughably small for traveling with a friend. We asked for a twin room, and what we got was ridiculous. It was two twin beds squished together (essentially, into a queen bed), with absolutely no room available to separate them. So- yes, technically we had two separate beds, but because of the size of the room, there was no way to separate them and gain more space between the beds. So, our twin beds were separated by no more than 2-3 inches. I can imagine situations where this could be awkward if you weren't prepared. I would not book this place again if traveling with a friend.
- the location is wonderful, right next to Notre Dame Cathedral and to various attraction points -very close to the metro station, Saint Michel which makes it accesible to take thw Rer directly to the airport - close to bars, various brasserie, shops - clean room and very well decorated - amazing space to have breakfast - very friendly staff, ready to help you and give advice - free storage room for your luggage - option to print out documents -complimentary biscuits, coffee and tea in the room
- extremely small bathroom, barely have the space to change or to move around - very small room, the double room is the size of a single room, no space to store your luggage or to move around without bumping into stuff or the other person - poor breakfast and expensive for what it offers (you should.better go to a brasserie and eat), without a variety of cheese, fruits, cereals or omlettes
Within walking distance of Notre Dame, the Left Bank and the Marais. ATM, grocery and multiple gourmet shops right at your fingertips. Walk along the Siene, stroll cobblestone lanes or hop on the metro nearby. Shuttle from airport was a big help.
Very close to all the sightseeing on one of the quaintest locations in Paris! Coffee and tea making amenities in room
Very constricted staircase Noisy street in the morning
The hotel is in a fantastic location and very quaint. Staff very friendly and spoke fair English providing information about the sights of Paris.
Mini bar didn't work even though it was reported when we arrived. Ask to use an iron but even though it was provide I could use it in the room I had to iron Jan the basement.
Loved the location and the style of hotel
Bed was hard and uncomfortable
Best staff you will encounter in your travels and I am a world traveler with decades of hotel experience.
Location Architecture Staff
Small rooms Bathrooms (too small and missing hooks) No wardrobe Beds with uncomfortable matress and only one blanket for two persons
Brilliant for visiting areas rich in museums, culture and shopping. Ideally placed for short walks to Restaurants, Cocktail bars and music venues. Attentive staff
Rooms were very compact, hot water runs out in the afternoon and some of the bathroom fittings were loose. The heating was set way too high for comfort and it was not obvious how to reduce until we worked it out the following day. These are however small niggles to what is a very tidy Hotel absolutely perfectly located for exploring Paris central areas.
I loved the location which is superb and easy to get everywhere from and the building itself is delightful.
The bed was a tad hard, so not much sleep the first night but after that very good nights sleep.
Location and shower
Noise from the street and uncomfortable bed
Friendly helpful staff.
Bathroom too small, no hooks to hang clothing.
style of the place, location, so many things on the doorstep, warm welcoming helpful staff, free wi-fi worked well, cosy homely feel. good decor and great hot shower and would definitely stay here again.
I don't find it a problem but people should now the rooms are small - as for all the hotels in Ilse St Louis
The location for us was superb. Ile St Louis is so much quieter than it's larger neighbour and the hotel was civilised and comfortable, clean and friendly. I'd certainly consider another stay.
The breakfast is a little overpriced but it's really hard to find much else to complain about.
Loved the location, friendly staff and the atmosphere of this stylish boutique hotel. Would stay there again without any hesitation.
Big bathroom, tea and coffee facilities in the room, quiet though on the ground floor of a busy street. Very good location. Fast and free wi-fi in the room.
We have been to Paris on many occasions and by far this was the best hotel we have stayed, with excellent location and great local cafes and restaurants nearby.
Value for money, Location
The efficiency and welcome of the receptionist/manager was avoid start. The building is a beautiful example of original Paris houses and it has been upgraded tastefully to produce an hotel with many modern conveniences.
The soundproofing was not good and both external street noise and other guests talking in the reception area could be clearly heard. Perhaps this issue is not so relevant above the ground floor.
