My Husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very accommodating to all of our needs. We really enjoyed the food/drinks that the hotel bar/restaurant/café offered and everyone was so helpful.
Wifi was not so great in the room, was better outside of the room. The cappuccino machine was out of order so we were unable to get the one thing I was craving! Other than that it was perfect.
All in all a good hotel
The bed was squeaking WIFI signal so so Price in relation to what you get to high
Friendly and professional, highly recommended
Staff was excellent - very knowledgeable and responsive.
Everything, but especially the outdoor pool, and proximity to the Catalans Beach, which I hope will not be privatised. Please add my name to any petition against privatisation.
It might have saved us both being bitten by insects if our open window had been on the, "view",side, as was the case when we visited last February....mind you it was cold then!!!
excellent bed, outstanding service and location, very good room service, nice swimming pool
poor internet connexion,
The rooms with balconies have a wonderful view and the balconies are quite sizable. Service is very good and the location is ok if you don't mind a bit of walking
Facilities are a bit rough around the edges and perhaps not at 5-star level. The room rates are a bit steep. Beds and pillows are so soft that it feels like you are sinking. If for whatever reason you're not big on walking to your destinations, you should avoid this hotel.
Room without view
I had a room with harbour view and it was spectacular. I enjoyed the spa but only briefly as the opening hours make it suitable only for leisure travellers. The meal at dinner time was excellent. Staff at reception at check-in and check-out time was great and so was the butler who took some brilliant photographas of me.
My bathrobe with a room key in its pocket was taken by a spa staff member while I was in the water and placed into a basket of used towels. This potentially would have placed me in a lot of trouble if I did not jump out of the water to rescue my bathrobe and a room key. I guess the person in the spa was overloaded and, perhaps, need to have some support by colleagues. The quality of food at breakfast time was very ordinary for such a high quality hotel.
Breakfast (the best in Marseille).
The view on the bins and the smelling...
The view was very special and the room was spacious, comfortable and quiet.
The Continental breakfast prices were ridiculously high and it was quite a walk to find good eating options.
View from room, Attentive staff Professional staff yet relaxed and approachable Good sized rooms and bathroom with nice decor
The price :) Nothing really...hard to find fault
Try to book a room with a view of Old Port. It is worth every cent. The staff was very helpful, rooms were clean, nothing to complain
We have stayed at a few hotels in the Sofitel group so chose this one for our stay in Marseille. We particularly liked the location at the edge of the Vieux Port and commanding views over the entrance and the forts. The staff are excellent in every way and check in was smooth and efficient. The lobby and bar areas are very pleasant and there is a small business centre. Free tea and coffee is available round the corner although we did not discover this until we were leaving! The rooms are well appointed and the bath was huge! We had a classic room without sea view. The bed was really comfortable. A fridge was most welcome as was the addition of a kettle. The rooms are not large and sometimes dated in places. Our room was at the end of the corridor and the traffic noise was quite loud. The hotel is a good 20 minutes pleasant walk into town but we often used the bus which stops outside the hotel. The hotel is 5 star so expect prices to match. We had a good deal but found eating options to be too expensive.
The building itself is an ugly 70s style with large windows and very few balconies to enjoy the view. The swimming pool area is shared with the hotel next door and can be busy. The grey wall facing the pool is ugly and in need of attention. The high prices of breakfast, meals in the restaurant and drinks in the bar. Our wifi didn't work well in the room, probably because we were at the end of the corridor.
breakfast, view from restaurant,services
quiet long walk to the center
Far away enough from the port, but close enough to walk to all the restaurants and the corniche.
The hotel was luxurious...the beds were really lovely...the room was really pleasnt and the staff were nice..we recommend the superior rooms with harbour views and there are lovely large showers. The concierge told us the best places to eat and was most helpful as the restaurant was fully booked apparently.
Only 2 small milk for tea...no biscuits....shower in room 517 not very powerful and 2 out of 3 of our rooms had leakage from the shower door.We didnt check in till 5 pm and one of the rooms was not ready.Would of been nice to of been asked if we wanted a table for evening meal on booking in it as was full when we asked. The beds were turned back at nite and when we returned one of the doors had been left wide open.
Excellent location and the view from the room and the shower was stunning! Use of the local swimming club pools was a great bonus.
African drums banging all Saturday night outside.
As a sofitel, the beds are comfortable and the view is nice at the outdoor restaurant.
There wasn't electricity at our room for relatively a long time and the hotel did not seem caring to compensate for such an unaceptable inconvenience. They reacted as if something normal.
Shower was amazing, bed was too comfortable!!!, cleaning fairies twice daily, lovely staff and what a view from the bar/restaurant. Lots of great restaurants nearby and loads of sights and culture nearby. Very romantic.
Sadly Hamman/ spa was being upgraded so couldn't go. Pool a little small and shared with hotel below. Restaurant pricey.
The beds and shower were excellent. Nice Hermes bath products. Good wifi
Rude service at terrace bar -- couldn't get seated until 10:45 and we're overcharged by rude waiter. Worst was the awful view of a dirty lot from the windows of the two rooms we rented. We came to the hotel specifically for the view of the old port and we're never able to see it from the hotel! What an expensive night for a parking lot view! Also the pool is disgusting -- shared with next door Novotel and is small, loud and cramped.
Nice hotel room and good restaurant
Pool area was way too small to accommodate the number of hotel guests and in the afternoon the area was in the shadow
It was worth the upgrade for the twin shower and view over the port. Hard to tear our eyes away from the beautiful sunrise. Dinner watching the sunset from the restaurant is an absolute must. It was a highlight of my trip through Europe
That I couldn't stay longer
Sending us to the most expensive restaurant around when we asked for Bouillabaise recommendation (€126 for 2), and organising taxis at 3 times the going rate when you book through reception. There is a derelict building right in front of the hotel that ruins what would otherwise be impressive views. Wifi did not work whatsoever. When we asked about this we were told they would call us back to explain after we had left. Needless to say they didn't.
The location and the staff in the reception.
WIFI performance: in a five-star hotel you expect good wifi connectivity in your room. There was a smell of mildew in our room. One member of the staff in the bar was rude to us, but the cost of our drink in the bar wasdeducted drom the bill, so we got some compensation for this.
