Try to book a room with a view of Old Port. It is worth every cent. The staff was very helpful, rooms were clean, nothing to complain
Far away enough from the port, but close enough to walk to all the restaurants and the corniche.
The hotel was luxurious...the beds were really lovely...the room was really pleasnt and the staff were nice..we recommend the superior rooms with harbour views and there are lovely large showers. The concierge told us the best places to eat and was most helpful as the restaurant was fully booked apparently.
Only 2 small milk for tea...no biscuits....shower in room 517 not very powerful and 2 out of 3 of our rooms had leakage from the shower door.We didnt check in till 5 pm and one of the rooms was not ready.Would of been nice to of been asked if we wanted a table for evening meal on booking in it as was full when we asked. The beds were turned back at nite and when we returned one of the doors had been left wide open.
Excellent location and the view from the room and the shower was stunning! Use of the local swimming club pools was a great bonus.
African drums banging all Saturday night outside.
As a sofitel, the beds are comfortable and the view is nice at the outdoor restaurant.
There wasn't electricity at our room for relatively a long time and the hotel did not seem caring to compensate for such an unaceptable inconvenience. They reacted as if something normal.
Shower was amazing, bed was too comfortable!!!, cleaning fairies twice daily, lovely staff and what a view from the bar/restaurant. Lots of great restaurants nearby and loads of sights and culture nearby. Very romantic.
Sadly Hamman/ spa was being upgraded so couldn't go. Pool a little small and shared with hotel below. Restaurant pricey.
The beds and shower were excellent. Nice Hermes bath products. Good wifi
Rude service at terrace bar -- couldn't get seated until 10:45 and we're overcharged by rude waiter. Worst was the awful view of a dirty lot from the windows of the two rooms we rented. We came to the hotel specifically for the view of the old port and we're never able to see it from the hotel! What an expensive night for a parking lot view! Also the pool is disgusting -- shared with next door Novotel and is small, loud and cramped.
Nice hotel room and good restaurant
Pool area was way too small to accommodate the number of hotel guests and in the afternoon the area was in the shadow
It was worth the upgrade for the twin shower and view over the port. Hard to tear our eyes away from the beautiful sunrise. Dinner watching the sunset from the restaurant is an absolute must. It was a highlight of my trip through Europe
That I couldn't stay longer
Sending us to the most expensive restaurant around when we asked for Bouillabaise recommendation (€126 for 2), and organising taxis at 3 times the going rate when you book through reception. There is a derelict building right in front of the hotel that ruins what would otherwise be impressive views. Wifi did not work whatsoever. When we asked about this we were told they would call us back to explain after we had left. Needless to say they didn't.
The location and the staff in the reception.
WIFI performance: in a five-star hotel you expect good wifi connectivity in your room. There was a smell of mildew in our room. One member of the staff in the bar was rude to us, but the cost of our drink in the bar wasdeducted drom the bill, so we got some compensation for this.
My only criticism was that the first room we were offered had a stale smell of cigarette smoke.
The hotel was welcoming, in a great location, comfortable and generally offered a enjoyable short stay in Marseille.
Very strange that Novotel and Sofitel were almost intertwined. Could have caused problems with use of shared pool. However on this trip, it didn't!!
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and all spoke good English. Rooms were fabulous with very comfortable beds. Attention to detail throughout the hotel was excellent.
I had a back massage booked for the day we were departing and I arrived as per my appointment. however I had no sooner changed and the receptionist came into the changing rooms to tell me the therapist was delayed in traffic and would not arrive for another hour ! ! disappointing as it was the only treatment I booked on my stay
Fantastic view from breakfast room and bar over the old harbour. Staff was very nice, friendly and helpful; rooms were clear.
One of our best stay in Europe, the view, the restaurant, the staff, all was perfect even the weather...
The view from our room was spectacular!! Worth the extra supplements
The beds were wonderful. We slept so well during our one-week stay. We appreciated the complimentary bottlesof water each night, very nice to have in the summer heat. We did not have a room with a view of the port, but we enjoyed looking at the beehives on the roof at the rear of the hotel. The staff were polite and courteous and responded in French to our attempts at reviving the French we had learned in our youth - even though their English was probably 100 times better than our French! It was very handy to have a bus-stop directly outside the hotel - it made getting into town and out again very easy.
The price of the breakfast. Even if it was the best breakfast in France, Euro 27 x 2 for seven days was a bit steep, even for our budget. So we "brunched" each day in town for between Euro 6 and Euro 16 each. We found wardrobe space limited, there were no drawers to put one's clothes in - and we were staying for a week, so it would have been nice to unpack our clothes properly. Also we found that the designer had forgotten to provide a proper wide desk or dressing table/workspace where we could put our laptops, i-pads, papers and books. And the glass sliding door to the combined bathroom/toilet is not exactly soundproof - so we had to turn the televison sound up quite a lot at times to camouflage any indiscreet noises from the loo. But these are only small quibbles, and we managed to get around them....
Very nice view on port, pool in hotel, very convient stay.
The hotel is all what you may ask for. The bed quality is something special
The Wifi connection is not stable
Location, friendliness of staff, view
Amazing location, great staff. Try the breakfast, worth it just for the view at that time of the morning.
Excellent service and facilities. Service is as usual at the best level
The staff was the best we have encountered in all of France and Italy
The bar and restaurant are quite expensive
We loved everything; the view from the restaurant is simply stunning.
