The proprietors were extremely friendly and attentive, the accommodation was of a very high standard and spotless. Breakfast was very good and varied.
The property was situated high in the hills above Menton and accessed via a very winding road with several hairpin turns not a road I would recommend driving on at night. The other way to access the property was by foot descending a steep road with uneven steps which would not be for the faint hearted ! This would take about 20-25mins to get into the centre of Menton old town, and considerably more time to get back up the hill afterwards !
Accommodation; welcome; facilities; home-made breakfast
A challenge to find it - but worth it!
There was nothing to complain about. Friendly hosts made us feel like at home. A very good breakfast in the fabulous garden made our day. The rooms are spatious, cosy and very clean, every room goes out to a cute terrace. We went walking and jogging in the morning in the surroundings. We even prolonged our stay in Menton for one more night, we liked it so much. I'll recommend this guesthouse to all my friends.
Just one little wish: would be nice to have boiled eggs or an omelette for breakfast:-)
The location is in a wonderful and relaxing place on the hill. The staff is kind.
To get there the street is not very good, you have to be a good driver!! Poor wifi and small bad.
The room - a small suite really, couldn't have been more charming, opening, as it did, into a beautiful large garden on both sides. In the rear garden, there was even a charming small hut with kitchen facilities. The hosts were wonderful: accommodating, helpful and patient. The breakfast couldn't have been nicer - the hostess offered us her home-made jams, which were a taste sensation.
This place is way up in the hills above Menton, and was rather difficult to get to. Perhaps I should have gotten very specific directions ahead of time, but I didn't, and as a result, we did get lost -- twice.
We stayed here for 2 nights having changed our booking from a seafront hotel at the last minute as we wanted a more peaceful location. Lovely hosts , happy to help with bookings and recommendations. Absolutely glorious breakfast served on the patio. Charming comfortable suites and of course the welcoming committee of the two cats!
Being situated 10 mins by car up steep hilly roads has some drawbacks when planning dinner in town, but not a major problem.
The room was great, also the breakfast everything with oassion made. In the kitchen you could make nespresso coffee. Small things but very pleasant
The location is a long curly road from te he sea, everydsy twice drinving this up and down is good for only a few days
The warm welcome and helpfulness of our hosts was really appreciated. Great breakfast with home made pastries and preserves were a tasty great start to the day.
The owners, The Enviroment and The breakfast ! over the top
not easy to find it , but this is the price to pay to be in a unique place out of the crowd
We received a wonderfully warm and hospitable welcome at Sous l'Olivier. Every detail of the house, the guest suite in which we stayed and the garden seems to have been given the most careful thought and consideration and these details add up to a wonderful atmosphere of relaxation and tranquility. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and we felt it was a real privilege to stay in their house and enjoy their company for a few short days.
We liked everything. It's quite a steep walk down to the old town, but we enjoyed that too, especially the night time views of the new port while stopping to catch our breath on the way back.
Fantastic room and garden, the staff is very hospitable
Very friendly welcome and helpful advice on local restaurants and facilities, including recommending a car park in Monaco and booking a restaurant for us. Welcoming tea and wonderful extensive breakfast. They made us feel right at home in a very special place.
You need a car to stay here, we couldn't have walked from the station with bags. It's a good 30 minutes uphill.
