Score from 604 reviews Good
The breakfast was well worth the extra cost. Many choices: yoghurt, cereal, juice, variety of breads, hard boiled eggs. Cheeses. Location was perfect. The park across the street had free wifi that worked better than the hotel's wifi.
We usually had to stand in the hallway to use the wifi.
location was great staff was outstandingly friendly and helpful
note: this is about our room, other rooms may be better, i don't know: room was small and shabby for what we had to pay no AC in room with open window (necessary in the heat without AC), mosquitos abound, but staff gave us device to repel them and that worked eventually small, small, smaaaall bathroom parking basically impossible on the street
The rooms are clean and simple. The bathroom I had was decent size and very clean which is important. The staff were very kind and helpful.
In Europe my understanding that stars are earned according to the level of services offered and these were inline with my expectations. I guess I would have liked a bit more attention to the presentation of the rooms. They don't have to be beautiful but perhaps somewhat updated and with less of a rundown look.
Nice staff and nice breakfast. Walking distance to main attractions.
The floor in our room was not flat, the third bed was small.
Location is close to main tourist spots Family run hotel with friendly owner Quite spacious room with A/C
The location of the hotel is very good.
no parking, you can not even get to the hotel by car, no WiFi, aweful smell (like a cat's pee), mold in the bathroom and in the corners of the bedroom; We do not recommend this hotel!
Loved the location. Comfortable bed.
Very small bathroom with the tiniest shower ever! Very squeaky doors on neighbours rooms keeps you awake. Parking very difficult.
5min walk from station. Very kind owner/manager.
As there is no front desk and sometimes nobody attend hotel office, it is inconvenient and also may be dangerous at emergency cases if happened. As wall between rooms is thin, sound and noise come from the next room(s). No English TV programs (no BBC nor CNN). Bathroom amenities are not good.
Very nice personnel. Good location. Good breakfast.
Position is good, staff is friendly
No elevator, room was absolutely overpriced, the parking they mention us a city parking not that far, but very expensive.
Beautiful, spacious room Clean Quiet Excellent location Free parking in front of hotel Very helpful staff Highly recommend
Could not get wi-fi in room, but could access it in public spaces of the hotel. Despite this inconvenience would definitely stay here again.
Genuine welcome and hospitality from all the staff - nothing too much trouble. Ground floor room (my wife is disabled), ready advice as to the best places to eat out, really substantial breakfast. Great location, near Centre Station, Tourist Office and the middle of Avignon. We've stayed here twice and when next in Avignon, it would be our first choice again.
Good location - near station and room overlooked small park. Receptionist was pleasant and spoke english WiFi worked Clean and well maintained- but strange smell in bathroom
strange smell in bathroom not cheap - but acceptable value in Avignon.
The genuine welcome from ALL of the staff, including patron and wife - nothing was too much trouble. We stayed there twice this month,2 days at the very beginning of our holiday and the final 2 before departure, 3 weeks later. Finding that my wife was disabled resulted in us being allocated a room on the ground floor - air conditioned and en suite. A substantial breakfast was served individually, including baguette, brioche, quality croissant, fruit juice, plain yoghourt, compote, jams and honey, eggs, cheese and fresh fruit and your choice of hot drink. Valuables and passports could be left in safe keeping (to avoid carrying them during the bustling "Fete de la Musique" crowds) and there was ready advice to choose the most suitable place to eat out, from the many within the walls of the City. We were even able to leave items in safe keeping, to be collected when we returned. Soft drinks and beer are available from Reception. We were even able to get my wife's gel pack heated (in the microwave) or chilled (in the freezer). Examples of the patron's hobby (photography) are framed on the dining room wall. Location, for us, was excellent - a few hundred yards from Avignon Centre Station, the Tourist Information Office and a most pleasant Park, with seats under the plane trees. We believe this established Hotel has earned its 2 stars and have every intention of staying there again.
French television programmes!
cozy hotel run by a family, extremly nice and helpful owners, perfect location, tasty breakfast
Double bed was small but very comfortable. Room was small and bathroom very small and difficult shape. Staff very friendly and efficient.
The location is great, within the old city walls and within walking distance of the Tourist Bureau, Gare Central, Place d'horloge, and the Palais du Pope. The proprietors were wonderful, very friendly and accommodating. Next to a lovely park and nice restaurants and cafés and shopping.
Great location and walking distance to everything.
This is a budget hotel and you get budget comfort. It was a really hot day when we were there and they lady was kind enough to give us a room with ac. The bathroom was tiny and the shower was extremely small. We were only there for one night which was find. It is also a little hard to find with limited parking options.
I have had short stays at Hotel Spendid on 3 occasions and find this family run hotel a perfect budget choice. Rooms small, but I have no need for a larger one. Bathrooms small but modern. Close to all amenities, and in a quiet lane that leads to a small place with lots of appealing cafe choices and a laundromat. Recommend! Remember that it isw a two star hotel, you will have a less luxurious, but more intimate experience than in a five star. Solo Senior Good coffee with breakfast
The staff were very nice and we had a choice of rooms - we chose the one facing the square - it was quiet at night. We walked easily from the train station and all over old town the following day. This was perfect for our short stay!
Breakfast and staff
No plugs for your devices and no soundproof either
I was very pleased by the friendly and helpful staff at this hotel. The location is ideal - in the old city within easy walking distance of the Tourist Bureau and many nice restaurants and cafés. But what most impressed me was how helpful they were when I had a sudden medical emergency which led to several days in the hospital. Not only did they save a room for me but one of the staff even visited me during my hospitalization and brought some of my personal items. I would not hesitate whatsoever to stay there again (the hotel not the hospital!).
location was fantastic
room a bit small as its in the old city but not too bad
audibility in the room
The hotel proprietor was helpful and knowledgeable and made a great restaurant recommendation. Well placed and parking right outside. Breakfast was good value and was a decent quality. Avignon is beautiful and we loved wandering the streets.
It may have been helpful to explain the rising bollard parking situation on the website.
