Symphonie des Sens  

I spent five nights at Symponie des Sens in May 2013 and had a wonderful time. When I checked in Fabrice was out of town so his father check me into my room. Both Fabrice and his father were charming and very helpful. The room was spacious and very quiet. Breakfast was delicious. It was a great experience to be able to stay in one of the oldest buildings in Rennes. Very tastefully decorated. Fantastic location. Highly recommended.

The facility is absolutely charming, situated in an 15th century building. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and charming. The location is in the heart of the old city.

This historic building is a destination in its own right with its massive fireplaces and beautifully worn wood. It's delightfully decorated with a modern sensibility that plays well around original architectural elements. A lounge and a patio extend space available to the visitor. Candlelit breakfasts were a special treat. The owner was exceptionally gracious and helpful and went out of his way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay.

Great location for shopping and restaurants. Small and intimate. Lovely house from 1400's that has been renovated with two rooms per floor. Owners are so helpful in every way.

If you don't like steps this might not be the best place for you --while rooms are lovely and unique, you may be in a room that demands climbing a few flights.

The chandeliers, the bathtub, the overall design of the space - it was elegant yet practical. Plus breakfast in the room.

Wifi was off & on the first couple of days. The room is a bit dark even with all the chandeliers

Liked absolutely everything. The place is a gem, right in the center of Rennes. Fabrice, the owner was very helpful and a great guy.

Symphone Des Sens B & B is housed in an AMAZING 14th century medieval building right in the ancient heart of Rennes. The owners are extremely charming, lovely and helpful. We were completely in love with the place that has a lot of original features intact. Highly recommended!

I liked everything about this Hotel. Fantastic.We had a bit of a problem finding it and the owners did all they could to help. Parking can be an issue,but it is a city hotel. It was well worth the effort to park and it was a real treat. Thank you

We were very impressed with the atmosphere and age of the building, so peaceful and relaxing and the room was very comfortable. Although there was a language barrier with the hosts they went out of their way to ensure we had everything we wanted.

There was nothing we didn't like, would definitely stay there again. The front of the building is not representative of what you find inside and at the rear.

This wonderful hotel is in the heart of Rennes and is the old France updated to today's comforts. Absolutely delicious breakfast each morning , luxorious linens, and warm, accommodating hosts!

The location and wonderful old building (said to be the oldest in that area), as well as the friendly hosts made for a wonderful stay at this hotel. Breakfast was great value, and our family room was spacious and clean.

Not much to complain about at all - I'll mention that the beds were on the small side, and that the shower over bath had no curtain, so it was a bit of a wet room :D It didn't bother us, but may concern some.

We liked everything about it. The owner was amazingly courteous and welcoming and generous with his time. I would highly recommend it to anyone appreciating the finer things in life. The room was magnificent. Much grander, more posh and lux than I anticipated.

The boutique hotel is an absolute joy to stay in. A fantastic building in a fantastic location with a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere generated by the family that runs the show.

Parking is a little awkward but a small matter given the positives of staying at this hotel

Lovely old building. The service was excellent. Central location and quite. Lovely sitting room which added to the ambiance of the visit. Good range of English speaking TV channels.

Beautiful old medeival building with elegant, comfortable guest lounge. I loved the honesty pot in the drinks cabinet and the tranquil music. The bed was very comfortable with quality bed linen. The breakfasts served in the room were a wonderful treat and extremely well presented. Fabrice, the owner made us feel so welcome that we would definately go back.

Wonderful owner and parents were the only people there. Fantastic ancient building with beautiful and interesting modern interiorhe absolutely unique.The room was a little small and the stairs up were ancient, but charming. Very obliging hosts and we had a roof terrace out our first floor door windows. Happy to have us and our two little shitzus! Great location in ancient city of Rennes. Great restaurants right on the same block. The owner made us a dinner reservation at a creperie on the block and it was fantastic!

Parking very difficult. Walking in the city of Rennes difficult on ancient cobblestones, and driving within the city is almost impossible with closed, dead end and one way streets. It is worth a visit, but, go by train and have a taxi take you to this unique hotel.

The host Fabrice is a vey nice guy with warmly smiles, always helpful and polite. This hotel is definitely unique in this city with easy transprtation. Almost located in the center heart of the city, it amazingly has a tranquil, lovely private space and elegant atmosphere. It's an wonderful and unforgetable experience when you know you are living in a house with centuries history.

Location was fantastic, breakfast was excellent, Fabrice was charmant. A great time.

Great location for shopping. Host was fantastic.

Only negative is that it is difficult to locate, especially if you are an english speaking tourist on your first trip to Rennes. We would stay there again for sure.

Easily accessible to Metro

Everything was fantastic. Fabrice has done a great job running the place.

The hotel was full of character and absolutely charming as were Fabrice and his parents who run it together. It is apparently the oldest building in Rennes. Our room was huge and complete with old beams and chandelier. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean and bright. There was a kettle in the room plus teabags, coffee etc. We had our own entrance hall, bathroom and separate toilet. There was a lounge and dining room for guests' use and a supply of cold drinks etc in a fridge which you paid for in an 'honesty box'. There was also a very attractive roof garden. Breakfasts were delicious and these are actually included in the room rate although appearing to be quoted as additional on the Bookings website.

Only slight snag was that our bathroom had a very large, deep bath with shower over which was quite difficult for my husband to use as he has problems with his back. I imagine that if we had requested a room with walk-in shower when we booked our request would almost certainly have been met so that wasn't really the fault of the hotel.
