Unfortunately very little. It looks like a beautiful hotel from the outside, but from the minute we stepped in to reception it was disappointing due to the very poor service of the staff. On the other hand, The Pressoir was quite impressive despite the very different sized portions of the meals (e.g. my partner's main meal was significantly larger than my main meal, likewise with the dessert) and the waiters were not always on time to top up glasses with water and wine. Our room was not ready when we arrived. We asked for early check in a month in advance and told a few days before arriving this would be no problem. We had to wait until nearly 3.30pm (we had arrived at 11am). We had a drink in the bar whilst we waited for the room and the wine glasses were filthy with lipstick marks of the previous user and water drops all over the glass. The bar man was shocked when we showed him and he could not stop apologising. We ordered a taxi to go to Chateau Beau Rivage (Medoc) for a 9.30am appointment and the taxi driver took us to the wrong place because he says he got the wrong instructions from the hotel. This was despite making it clear to the hotel we needed Medoc which was around an hour away not the other location which was only 15 minutes away in the complete opposite direction. We got no apology for the hotel given this ruined our Saturday as we were over 2 hours late to our wine tasting/harvesting event (got to venue at midday rather than 9.30am). We had a drink in the brasserie in the evening and asked for the bill. We ended up waiting over 15 minutes before going up to the till to pay and were told they had completely forgot (despite them not being super busy). Absolutely rubbish service. When using the gym, the weight machines were in fact not weight machines as the weights were not heavy enough for an average 40 year old to enjoy the gym. When we asked the gym attendant, they said "yes, they were just fitness machines, but not really weight machines - they kept the weights low for the older generation". When checking out the entire computer system was down which meant we (together with at least 10 other people who were attending the Veterinary conference) had to wait nearly 15/20 minutes before we could check out. This was a disgrace and in no way should this hotel be identifying itself as a luxury / 5* hotel. It is far from it having stayed at numerous top class hotels around the world. I would not recommend this...

Fine architecture, view of the Grand Theatre, interior design (except the bar), the Brasserie (but see below). Very poor slow service on Sunday night 4 December in the Brasserie. Stuffy air in the corridors.

Breakfast at 32 euros per person is too expensive. Pool in the spa not big enough to swim in - and too cold for sitting in the rather poor jets. Not worth the entry fee of 38 euros for hotel guests.

The staff were excellent, very professional and welcoming. The room was beautifully clean, spacious and appointed to a very high standard. Considering the great location in the centre of Bordeaux the room was very quiet, probably one of the quietest we've stayed in.

The hotel is very, very good and the location is the best you can hope for. The room we had was not very large, but very well furnished with everything we needed. We had a nice view of the Grand Theatre and of the animation surrounding it, but the sound proofing was excellent and we were never disturbed by outside noises. We were in France, so we had to put up with the minor annoyance of the WC being separated from the rest of the bathroom. A very useful plus was the in-house garage, which by such a central location (in fact, within the city centre pedestrian area) was not to be taken for granted. We stayed three nights. The staff were very helpful. The concierge gave us precious advice on some sightseeing in the wine-growing regions and the reception were very helpful in solving a minor internet connection problem. We would return tomorrow if we could. I cannot understand the logic of having the WC separated from the rest of the bathroom. But ,unfortunately, this arrangement is to be expected in most hotels of France.

Unlike some of the high graded hotel, this hotel is so friendly and even made me think about coming back with my young family. Great location and good dining facilities. It is not cheap to stay here, let's say compare to the best western next door, but if you want to stay French Hotel, not American one, to enjoy the culture of Bordeaux, this is the place to be.

I likes everything about the Grand Hoel. From the time I stepped out of the taxi I was greeted by a friendly staff member. Check-in was a breeze, the front desk staff were phenomenal - the Director of Guest Relations accompany me to my room and explained the facilities, and features of the room. I was impressed because my bag was already in my room when we got there. The room was beautiful and I absolutel loved teh hotel -- it is truly "Grand"! My only complaint was that my room was towards the back of the hotel and I felt isolated.

We found the hotel decor and position to be excellent Arriving by car was not easy. I had to leave my husband in the car and go into the hotel to ask the receptionist how we pass the bollard, she was to say the least very unhelpful. We were totally unware of having to press a button to raise a bollard, the button was extremly poorly marked. Also for a 5* hotel I* do not expect to have to pay for Wifi and drinking water in our room, nor do I expect to have to pay for the use of the terrace overlooking the city, although it did have a plunge/spa pool which the hotel regarded as part of the spa. 60 euros for the priviledge of a view, - I think not.

This was one of the loveliest hotels I have stayed at. I do not speak French, yet the staff were very patient in communicating, and did their best to make the stay perfect. The hotel itself is gorgeous, and the location fantastic. This is certainly a luxury hotel, and the staff make it special with their discrete and caring service.

Undoubtedly the best thing about the hotel is it's location in the very centre of town. It is very grand indeed, and also very busy. Intimate it is not. The concierges were both extremely knowledgeable and very courteous. Everyone speaks very fluent English. For a five star hotel I was surprised by how much extra they charged for everything. In their literature and everywhere around the hotel, they advertise their spa services, pool, fitness facilities and rooftop terrace. What they don't tell you is that they charge you a very high fee to use these facilities - hotel guests cannot use the pool or the exercise machines without paying extra (quite a bit extra, I might add). This is not standard practice among the other 5 star hotels I've stayed at and I couldn't help but feel a bit misled. The charge for parking is also incredibly high.

Hotel lobby and location are very nice and great to relax in. Concierge very helpful for tour and restaurant recommendations. Reception girl not pleasant. it took three hours for room to be ready so we could not check in until 3.30pm after we arrived at 12.30. We also could not get wifi in our room and after two attempts to try and fix problem we gave up. This hotel should only be booked for location, otherwise it is overpriced and not five stat at all.

Very expensive Mini bar - Riduculous prices Swimming pool - Riduculous price Breakfast - Riduculous price Lovely hotel, fantastic location, but sorry, but way too expensive for what it was. Very expensive Small room, even though it said it was an upgrade to a "deluxe" Paid €30 for valet parking, picked my car up (after 30 minutes wait !) to find my luggage was not in the car as promised and a small card picture that was left in one of my bags had been folded in two ! Will not stay here again, however I accept it's a lovely hotel and fantastic location. Bordeaux is wonderful as well !

Excellent location in Bordeaux near shops, old town and major sights. Accommodation was very small, though, and the bath difficult to access. Beautiful spa, but this is an additional cost. Parking available at a cost, and ample notice needs to be given if you need to use your car as this took 40 minutes on one occasion. The location, though, really makes this hotel worth re-visiting.
