The hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring Marseille: however, information is lacking about the lack of access for taxis, etc. as cars cannot get up to the front door. This would present problems for some people who cannot lift and/or carry their bags. The breakfast (included in the room rate) was very good (when was the last time you saw fresh orange juice on a buffet?) and, had we wanted, could have been delivered to our room. The room itself was large and well-furnished. In short, the Newhotel Vieux-Port provided as much or more than hotels with a higher star rating for a reasonable price.

The location was great, right in the middle of the city - although I did not like the city at all - but not their fault :))) the room was much better than what I expected - very well furnished, quite big and very clean. It's a nightmare to find the hotel, even with gps... try to look at the pedestrian street behind the big shopping mall.

Excellent location at the Vieux Port. Very clean. Delicious breakfast with plenty to choose from, including ripe fruit and squeezing your own orange juice. Room very comfortable with WiFi also. Great value. Small, slow elevator, but thats not really a problem.

Everything is very close; metro station only few meters, harbour 3 minutes walk, from where you can go by boat to if castle or some other boat trip. If you walk to the direction left side of the harbour and one street up, there's plenty different excellent restaurant. Room is good size, with nice big bed, clean sheets. All receptionist are very helpful. Check out at 12 am, but you can leave your lauggage behind safe if you have a late flight or leaving Marseille late afternoon. Before you go, print the direction - not easy to find. Some small signpost on the way. We've circled a few times round the harbour. You can't park next to the hotel, but there is a near underground carpark. There is a coffee machine in the room, but is you want to have an espresso - charge extra Eur 2 for it.

Unfortunate that there was building work going on right outside but apart from that, the hotel is a few seconds from the metro, just two stops from the main station, Gare St Charles, so extremely handy for everything. The staff were just great. Very friendly and helpful and full of recommendations for places to eat. It made the weekend just that bit more enjoyable!

The staff was very helpful, the location was great. Accessible by subway/metro. Close to restaurants. The breakfast was delicious. A bit noisy because of location, but the windows do a great job in reducing the noise. A staff entered our room even after the "Do Not Disturb" sign was hung on the door.

Rooms are all different, but all very spacious. Hotel is just at the back of the very busy road around the harbour, so relatively very little traffic noise. The room was on the attic, but the elevator stopped 1 floor below.

Centrally situated and within easy proximity of the metro, the vieux port and the staff were very helpful. My friend and I both thought that to make a charge of 2€ each to use the coffee machine and 6€ for nibbles gave an unfortunate and immediate impression of meanness. A welcome tray with tea or coffee tray and a few biscuits should have been included in the room price or not offered at all.

Location near the harbour was excellent. The bed was superbly comfortable. Coffee facilities in the room were expensive. For the money free tea and coffee could have been made accessible.

“I don't believe you can find a better value with location and quality in Marseille. It is easy to locate, ideal for walking to all areas of the city including (obviously) the Vieux-port, the city's shopping area, boat rides, as well as Notre Dame de la Garde. No charge for Wifi is a big plus. Parking is across the street in an underground garage, easy to get back and forth to hotel. I have stayed here on two separate trips and will continue to stay here on return trips. ” Ursula, Norfolk |

“The level of service was amazing. Much better than many 4/5 star hotels we've stayed at all over the world. We went to Marseille for a music concert, and discovered that rather than taking a lengthy taxi ride as we didn't want to drive our car, all we had to do was walk across the street to the train station and go 4 stops on the subway. Lots of pedestrian areas to wander and good choice of food all around. As we had to leave by 6:15 am, and breakfast wasn't served until 6;30, Jose at the front desk/bar area offered to make us an early breakfast. We had yogurt, fresh fruit salad, oj, coffee, and fresh croissants, all included in the room rate.” Lee, Caux |
