Beautifully styled and recapturing the original rustic appearance. Reasonably priced with parking at the rear.

There was still a lot of renovation going on, the roof to the restaurant was still being related on our arrival. The restaurant doubled as the reception. Each room is individually styled, not to alls taste. Unfortunately there was a rain storm during our stay and two of the ground floor rooms were flooded with an inch of water! Although promises wifi the coverage on the ground floor was not available ( guests on the first floor did receive it though). The restaurant was very charming but the menu was very specialised and would not appeal to many. Starters started at 12 euros. There are no other meal options locally. Perhaps consider eating prior to arrival.

Great host. Jeanne, he cooks all the food. Restaurant a bit pricey but very good. Breakfast also very nice.

Very poor accommodation, cold, small and dark. The interior is outdated and dirty. The interior requires a huge investment to keep up with todays standards. The staff of the hotel could use a training in customer-friendly manners and speaking proper English, as the welcoming was very stiff and minimalistic. The wifi connection dropped out a couple of times, it might need a technical checkup or upgrade of the machinery The pity is that there isn't a nearby hotel, otherwise I would have checked out this hotel immediately and moved to a nearby hotel

We thought for the for the price it was outstanding and beating anything you will find at the large multiple roadside inns. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable with most friendly but unobtrusive staff. We should most certainly be visiting again.

All staff were very friendly and gracious. We liked their international outlook and the touches of eccentricity around the hotel. Surprised that the hotel was only rated as two-star: it deserved higher for the warmth of its hospitality. Cuisine excellent, although portions rather too large for elderly folks such as ourselves. 1. Staff was almost rude 2. Room was almost clean. 3. Internet almost worked. 4. We almost got the rooms we had booked. No matter how much French you took in school, it will not be enough here and they will make sure you know it. We gave up on trying to get internet connection, 2 towels for two people, and the rooms we had booked because we just didn't want to deal with any of the staff. One of the rooms was right on the road and noisy (when other empty rooms of similar size were available away from the road and closer to where our other room was). We did not eat here because, again, we just didn't want to deal with the rudeness of the staff.

The place was just awful! It smelled of dead rats because of d-con rat bait. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were flat. There was no English channels on the TV-available in other places in France. Almost impossible to find coming from Paris. Reception desk closed both times I tried to get something. The villiage had no stores to even get a bottle of coke or water. They had a dog in the resturant at breakfast. Would definately not stay there again.

Lovely location. We remembered the amiable patron and eccentric set-up from a visit years ago. Good country cooking and breakfast.

Furnishings and fittings getting a bit worn and tatty. Service and welcome could have been warmer (although Monsieur Le Patron himself remains ever the good host). Mini Golf not looked after -- and expensive!

An extremely individual hotel in a sleepy little French village. The owner was charming and spoke passable English. Rooms have a terrace or balcony and the hotel is in a lovely setting - ideal for sitting and enjoying a pre-dinner drink.There are some strange items on the menu but both the suckling pig and steak with pepper sauce were delicious. As was breakfast which was reasonably priced and plentiful. If you are looking for corporate comfort, this is not the hotel for you. However, if you prefer somewher a bit more quirky and good value for money, you will not be able to beat the Village Gaulois.

No air-conditioning or hairdryer, and only a hand-held shower over the bath.

It was simply comfortable and friendly. Our room was delightfully designed. The hotel was small, which suits us, we do not like big, crowded, noisy hotels. Being outside the city, it was easy to visit places all around without being stuck in traffic. The food was excellent, and when I asked for potatoes cooked in a particular way, then it was no trouble to the chef. There was an atmosphere of simple, country living, which helped us to relax. We would happily stay there again.

We would have liked to see tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We would have preferred a shower attachment on the wall, rather than one just attached to the taps.

Set in the countryside a few miles outside Verdun. The patron was very friendly and eager to please. The restaurant is very good. Breakfasts were very good, not just the normal bread, croissants and jam but plently of meat, cheese, crepes etc.

It is a very unique hotel and close to Verdun where we were traveling.

The friendly atmosphere and made to feel welcome by Lucien Hergott on arrival and for our stay the food was excellent. Although we only stop 1 night as we are travelling to Switzerland, we are always treated well and find this a very relaxing stopover,this being our 5th year in a row.

Small uninviting depressing rooms.Stayed on ground floor .disgusting stench.couldnt wait to get out of there. Waitress in restuarant not friendly as were most staff.Do yourself a big favor and spend more and stay somewhere more inviting

The hotel was described in reviews as 'quirky' and I would agree wholeheartedly with that. The twin room was clean and well appointed but the single beds were short and bed coverings heavy, (no duvets). The old stone building was charming but very cold in the passages and stairs. Bathroom only had a hand held shower. There was no bar area or lounge to sit and spending the evening in your room with a tiny television was uninviting. Outside areas would be ok in summer but too cold in April !

le site et la déco à thème peu courant donc original et dépaysant. Site imaginé et construit par le propriétaire lui même et pour cela force l'admiration; les petits déjeuners très variés et copieux : charcuteries viennoiseries et crêpes excellentes! l'aubergiste sympatique!

les oreillers inconfortables (si j'y retourne je prendrais le mien); pour les repas, le rapport qualité prix n'y était pas car même si ce que nous avons mangé était bon, cela n'en valait pas le coût. il manque un salon pour se détendre et prendre un verre entre amis (nous étions venus à deux couples)

Personnel sympa, cuisine très bien ! Endroit calme, salle de restaurant très bien.

Ein schönes rustikales kleines Hotel mit dem Flair des besonderen.Das Einchecken ging schnell und unproblematisch. Das Frühstück ist gut und reichhaltigDas Restaurant bietet sehr gute Küche. Nicht ganz preiswert aber sehr schmackhafte und frische Zubereitung

L'accueil fort sympatique du propriétaire. L'ambiance quasi familiale dans une ambiance terroir et une gastronomie de qualité.

La gentillesse du Monsieur responsable de cet hôtel et surtout la qualité de la nourriture proposée, nous avons mangé au restaurant de l'établissement et franchement, ce fut exeptionnel et très raffiné.
