I was very surprised by this hotel, on entrance I thought class, and when shown to my room by a very polite porter, the room was excellent, the view was romantic and the comfort of my bed well, I wanted to strap it to my back and carry it home. The room service was excellent, very polite, just what you need after a hard day at work, and what could be better than having a fantastic restaurant nxt door and I mean nxt door.

Location and comfort.quirky layout. Payment.was told couldn.t pay with cash unless I left a deposit, even though my credit card was pre autherised.i had to go to a cash machine for some more cash. The excuse was because it was a debit card the bank would keep my money for two weeks. This I havn.t heard of this before. Always paid cash.inconvenience for me.

I found the staff to be extremely polite and helpful, and the comfort and luxery of the room was superb. I would have no hesitation in reccomending to my freinds (and have done so several times), and look forward to stopping there again.

Rooms looked nice. Reception staff were friendly. Brassie links good. Car parking is local and reasonable for an ncp. Noise from outside/ passers by was awful (was a saturday night and we didn't get in until 4am but this continued throughout the nigh). "Pour your own" bar... lots of disputes about the drink... if you tip the bottle twice, you pay twice (doesn't matter if its clear nothing came out!!) Hotel didn't advise got a discount for parking if paid through them.. found this out through another guest. Dogs were allowed in the bar area (not sure about rest of hotel though?).

I liked being able to look out onto the river. Being offered a glass of wine on arrival was a nice touch. Also the little boxes of Smarties left on the bed. The rooms contained no sound proofing which meant that there was noise at night both outside the building and in the corridors. The plug hole in the basin in the bathroom was partially blocked, on further investigation, I found it was clogged with other people's hair! The caddie for drinks was very sparse, probably had not been replenished. I expected more for the money.

Consistently, friendly and helpful reception staff and housekeeping staff. Always very obliging and very welcoming. You feel like a guest, not a customer. During both visits to the Calls this year, we were subjected to loud tv noise from nearby rooms in our rooms; we wonderered to reception staff whether our room this recent visit was near a bar, the noise was that loud. Its unclear whether this is the result of poor sound insulation or just our bad luck to be twice accommodated near other guests who liked their in-room entertainiment really loud. In both cases, front staff intervened to resolve the situation. We mention this only becuase it happened during each of our two visits. The noise episodes strictly reduced our ratings for value and comfort.

The rooms are all individually furnished, are comfortable and very clean. The staff are all really polite and helpful. I was lucky to have a lovely view over the river and my room was spacious and very peaceful. The honesty bar offers a range of drinks and a nice place to meet others, the breakfast was tasty and freshly cooked. I would definitely return.

Rooms overlooking the river are large, comfortable, quiet and with interesting outlook. Only bfeakfast is available, which is pretty good, but there are plenty of good restaurant choices nearby and the hotel keen to help you choose. Only minutes from town centre . We have made many repeat visits.

The hotel is stunning, overlooking the riverside in the heart of Leeds. City shopping and the best restaurants are all local. We booked into the Direcor king room and got upgraded to the Junior Suite for no extra cost as it was empty.. (this room was nearly double the price) By far the best room I have stayed in.... No hotel parking, but area to unload the car then park in the NCP or on a side street.

The hotel was very unique, the room was exceptionally comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome and would like to compliment one person in particular, the lovely gentleman who showed us to our room. His polite and friendly manner made our stay. We were very impressed with the lovely shortbread in our room and asked him if we were able to buy some to take home. He explained it was not available to buy but gave us a few pieces to take away with us. Please offer him our many thanks! We often visit Leeds and will not hesitate to book into 42 The Calls in the future.

Clean room, comfortable bed. Powerful shower. Efficient staff. Some of the decor is starting to look a little tired. Room gets a little stuffy with the windows shut. But overall i'd recommend it.

The service was excellent and all the staff very accomodating and friendly. Would also recommend to book a meal next door at the Brasserie Forty4. Expensive yes, but well worth it. Although the room was clean and tidy, it appeared not to have been vacuumed, and there were dirty marks on the carpet. This was only minor things and did not spoil our stay.
