So very friendly! Warm welcome Lovely room Gorgeous details Great breakfast Excellent location for ferry
Hideaway Retreat is a true gem. Lovely clean warm inviting roomwith such a comfortable bed. The breakfast was lovely plenty of choice and homecooked local produce. Gail and Richard who ran the B&B were a lovely friendly couple who made our stay very pleasant. Homemade cake and tea on arrival was fab. A real homely touch. Would definitely recommend Hideaway Retreat as a lovely place to stay. It felt like being at home. Will be staying here again. Excellent value for money and is a well deserved 10 out of 10. Sarah W. The hosts Gail and Richard, made you feel at home as soon as you walked through the door. Very friendly and helpful couple. I shall certainly return the next time I need to stay in Colchester, and I'll remember to leave my towel, soap, kettle etc as that's all provided, together with an enjoyable full English breakfast whether Gail or Richard make it. Thanks again 10/10
The owners were lovely and very friendly Breakfast was great, COFEE AND CAKE ON ARRIVAL WAS A NICE TOUCH
unfortunately i was there only for one night. this becouse it is close to the boat. however i should have stayed longer as there are many things to see. the owners are very kind and love to have a chat. and so do i. u feel like your at home
I was visiting the B&B for a night, as a replacement for my accommodation for a university. The staffs there were just gorgeous. Not only being helpful for basic necesity for a staff, but they offered me so much when I had to find my next accommodation. Would rate the B&B as high as I can, but shame it doesn't have any higher rating as they are now. 15/10
Only bad side is that there were so many people booked in to stay, that I couldn't stay for over 1 night!
Very pleasant helpful people who made us feel most welcome. Very clean, comfortable rooms, with some lovely touches to the decor. Particularly liked we had our own entrance and so didn't disturb anybody. Lovely cooked breakfast made from all local produce. Delicious home made jam!
Can't fault it. We've already booked our next stay.
Very friendly and accommodating owners Lovely breakfast
Friendly hosts, comfortable beds, fast wifi, big mugs in the room, spacious rooms, great value for money, lovely breakfast, homely feel
Nothing in my single night!
Staff were very friendly and could Not do enough for you. They even booked a table for us at a lovely restaurant. Very clean room and the location was good. Parking was a bonus as well. Handy if using Harwich for a ferry or cruise.
Nothing. Wee were impressed with the whole set up. A place to stay if visiting this part of the world.
Fantastically run accommodation superb breakfast lots of choice mostly sourced locally (fruit from their garden) friendly hosts very clean room overall a fantastic nights stay will return if in Colchester again
We were made to feel very welcome. Our breakfast order was taken as we arrived so that next morning it was ready when we were. The food was all good quality and nicely presented. All the preserves were home made. The room was equipped with a range of teas and coffee.
Although the bathroom was for our sole use, it wasn't en suite, which meant that we were visible en route to the shower by other guests who were at breakfast.
I love fish and was offered 2 types for breakfast. It was cooked, and presented perfectly. My husband enjoyed his traditional full English, which was also excellent. Home made jams and marmalade. Good value for money.
Freindly helpful owners, room and facilities clean and spacious. Nice welcome with tea, coffee and cake. Good choice and quality breakfast.
Everything, such a warm welcome from Gail and Richard. Lovely comfortable room spotlessly clean. We were greeted on our arrival with a lovely cup of tea and home made cake - scrumptious! Breakfast - well, you name it and it was there including home made jam and marmalade. Pub within walking distance for evening meal. When cruising from Harwich this is great, only 1/2 hour away from port. Took out all the stress of travelling a long distance on day of cruise. Highly recommended. Why go anywhere else when you can stay with Gail and Richard! Many thanks.
Nothing - it was lovely
Made to feel like one of the family.
Gail & Richard were very welcoming, friendly and seemed genuinely concerned that we should enjoy our stay in the area. The breakfast choices were comprehensive and lovely, with fresh local and home-made produce.
There was nothing we disliked.
The couple were very friendly, couldn't do enough for you. We were offered tea and cake on arrival which was not offered on previous bed and breakfasts I have stayed at. The breakfast was very nice, plenty of choice and the table was presented just lovely. The room was clean and tidy, the bed very comfortable. It was my partners birthday and they very kindly left some balloons and chocalates in the room. They go that bit further than most.
Nothing we didn't like. All round good B&B.
Very friendly reception with acup of tea and cake. A good and quit room. The bed is of good quality. The breakfast offered is very extensive and tasty. There are coffee and tea making facilities.
The bathroom is rather small but clean and working.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. The place, including the room I stayed at, was quite clean and neat. I was even offered an early 'car service' to the station by the owners since I needed to get to London early. This was an extra help they provided me with and it really helped.
Nothing to mention here
Nice warm friendly reception on arrival . Greeted with tea / coffee and some homemade cake . Room was very quiet .Lovely breakfast with home made jam .
Breakfast was little early at 8.30 on a sunday morning.
I would definitely stay again, a very homely & peaceful stay, really clean room, the hosts were lovely, very friendly and cooked me a great breakfast! I recommend the homemade Salmon fishcakes with poached egg plus homemade jams. Initially, the location put me off as it's a little further out from Colchester town than I wanted to stay but this is a minor thing & not something the hosts can change! I slept the best I had in ages.
The owners were helpful. The location was in the neighbourhood of Dedham and surroundings, with a very picturesque landscape.
We were warmly welcomed and given tea and home-made cake on arrival. Room was comfortable with plenty of hanging space for clothes. Bathroom tiny but adequate and very clean. We had our own private entrance. Breakfast was quality, generous, and nicely served on white porcelain and pretty china.
We were walking locally to friends for a party - we had not expected the street lighting to be out on the way back, but this is down to Colchester Council. A torch would have been useful.
