The rooms are kept clean and tidy and the chamber maid certainly deserves nothing but praise. She is polish and very, very friendly - what a difference a smile makes. Run down hotel which mainly caters for building contractors and short stay travelers. The walls are made from plywood or plaster board. One not only understands an ongoing conversation next door but will also hear a boiling water kettle, running tap water, the shower or even an electric tooth brush. Most interesting is when the room neighbour opens and shuts his/her door - it will be very, very noisy. The staff is not very friendly and will come bothering you asking what room number you are having when taking the breakfast in the morning. The breakfast is somewhat edible but cheap and tasteless although quite extensive and good value compared to other hotels. The rooms are situated either at the back of the hotel close to a railway line or in the front close to the busy A4. However, it is conveniently located between Reading and Newbury and is providing good access to the M4. I have difficulties reccomanding this hotel further but getting a room for around £30.00 is considerable good value and pays for some low standard but certainly not the lowest there is around. |

We particularly appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the excellent breakfast choice For just an overnight stay, the double room was OK, although it was small, The double bed was small as well - thank God we were so tired it did not bother us too much. |

I received a warm welcome. The hotel was clean. The bed was comfortable. The price was very reasonable. There was ample parking. Good location. The wash hand basin in the ensuite was very small. At times I felt the staff could benefit from some more training. For example I had to wait for the staff member to return to the desk to collect my key. There was no appology given for his absence. Another staff member insisted on carrying on with a conversation with the receptionist while I was trying to book out. Receptionist did appologise. |

The staff were courteous and obliging. The room in particular was clean well decorated and well equipped. The buffet breakfast was first class and comparable with any (higher priced) hotels I have experienced.Good value overall. The general look of the place (particularly the exterior) suggests it could use some TLC. The planned refurbishment should add the final touches to what I consider overall, to be a commendable service. |

I should have checked before, but was surprised the restaurant shuts on Friday and Saturday nights. Also, whilst it is not the hotel's fault, if you are a light sleeper there is no escaping the noise of the main line behind the hotel and the busy a4 in front. |

Nothing really Room was very basic. There was a number of building workers staying there. Very noisy at 5.30 in the morning, took the TV area over at night and also swearing at each other in T.V area. Would not stay again. Also break fast a bit dry. |

Good breakfast. Hotel was full of builders who turned up at around 6.30, took over the bar and shouted and swore for the next hour. Staff didn't bat an eyelid as they were all on first name terms. Felt like I'd checked into a hostel. |

Staff very friendly and helpful. Also excellent choice of food for continental breakfast. Room & dining area very clean. Unpleasant smell in the mornings, coming from outside. Not sure if it was the area in general or whether there was a problem with the drains. |

It was a reasonably priced room, in a convenient location for collecting a passenger from Heathrow airport. No frills, but all I needed for an overnight stop. |
