It did not disappoint in any way. Such a special place.
COSY COMFORTABLE CLEAN AND STAFF VERY HELPFUL AFTER ARRIVING LATE FROM LONDON BY TRAIN RECEPTION EVEN OFFERED TO PHONE A LOCAL PUB TO ENSURE THAT WE COULD GET A MEAL AND AN EARLY BREAKFAST ON LEAVING WAS NO PROBLEM ,WOULD DEFINATLY GO AGAIN
Afternoon tea in the drawing room very welcome.Drinks in the drawing room with honesty cards very good.Furnishing good and interesting.
Could have had a little light music in the dining room at breakfast to counter the English reserve.
we both enjoyed a great week at this wonderful Hotel , full of character. An interesting hotel full of interesting people. Wonderful room, our dog was made really welcome and enjoyed a sausage for breakfast every day. We will certainly return.
The Car park was a little cramped and the streets leading to it could be congested at certain times. This however is no fault of the hotel as this is an historic house in the oldest part of town. This only really added to the charm of the place.
Intersting location and building. Good array of reading matter and selection of art work and curios in the common area and bedrooms. Individually furnished, so that rooms are not clones. Friendly staff
Difficulty in negotiating stairs for thise using a walking aid--no lift.
room 1 was awesome. Garden was very private and secluded.
We stayed in the suite which has a comfortable lounge with a gorgeous view across Penzance. The staff were very helpful and afternoon tea in the garden was a delight:)
Car parking a bit tricky, but it is in the middle of Penzance and a lovely old property so the compromise was worth it.
Quirky, eclectic hotel filled with all sorts of interesting things. Great staff we were greeted with coffee and cake in the drawing room! The room was spacious and comfortable.
A little hard to find.
The view, the cosy rooms all full of charm and quirkyness.
Quirky hotel, beautiful room with the biggest bed we have ever slept in. Very handy for rail and bus stations and close to town centre. Staff approachable, friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was a treat with the creamiest scrambled eggs ever! Loved having tea in the garden upon arrival - a wonderful touch and very welcome.
Great location. Cozy beds. Cute interior. Staff were ok to us.
We were staying at the attic room and it was very hot inside during the day time. There was a wifi machine but it did not work.
Very clean and comfortable. Welcoming and helpful host. Excellent breakfast.
Steps to outside apartment could be slippery if wet. No phones in room, I don't have a mobile and my son was in separate apartment.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly even though we arrived at 9pm for our check-in. We had a suite for 4 persons and it was amazing! The room was meticulously decorated and included a library, TV, fridge, binoculars (!) and wooden floors covered with delicate carpets. The view and location was excellent overlooking Mount's Bay and within walking distance to the town centre. Parking facilities were available too. Breakfast was everything that you imagine - freshly squeezed orange juice, tea, coffee, fresh fruit, croissants, cereals, salmon and of course the English breakfast!
The entrance to the hotel is difficult to find since the large "The Abbey Hotel" sign and the main building are of different colour. Restaurants around the area are open only until 9:30pm so we had to eat at a pub (which was the only one open at that time!).
No view of the sea. Internal access difficult.
this hotel has a lovely garden and drawing room and is very homely. the decor is lovely and very english.
there was nothing that we did not like
Charming and romantic hotel in a great and very central location.
The restaurant was closed. Wifi didn't work. Else all was great.
Welcoming helpful staff, tea and cake on arrival, big room with all the facilities needed. Very comfortable, very well fitted out and clean. Great location for ferry to Scilly. Staff arranged early breakfast to enable us to get the ferry, breakfast was very good.
We had booked an en-suite room but on arrival were taken to a room at the top of the building with the bathroom across the corridor. This was very quickly rectified as there was an alternative room available, but it could have been very disappointing if the hotel had been completely full. The Booking.com website describes all the rooms as en-suite, which is a little misleading, as room 7 is only semi-ensuite
We stayed in the suite, as we really wanted a separate room for our young daughter. We were so pleased to discover the suite was absolutely huge and included a lovely view. We had a large sitting room, two large bedrooms, and a comfortable bath where we didn't have to elbow each other to brush our teeth. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely return if we come back to Penzance.
The hotel restaurant had closed, meaning dinner options were limited to the town itself. On the days where we were tired from a long day of hiking, it would have been nice to get a meal on premises. Breakfast was still provided and was quite good, however. It wasn't a big deal.
Lovely hotel - romantic and beautiful
everything! amazing décor / garden / bedroom / bathroom, everything!!
Loved the setting, decor, history, service and atmosphere of the Abbey. Best relax in a long time
I particularly liked the decor of the house and delighted in the furnishings and personal treasures dotted about. This added to the comfort and "home from home" atmosphere. I particularly dislike the cold, impersonal, minimalism of many 5 star hotels in Europe, the Abbey Hotel was the welcome antithesis of these. The staff were excellent and most attentive.
The fact that I couldn't stay at The Abbey longer!
Very comfortable, friendly, invaluable advice. Highlyy .recommended
