Score from 485 reviews Fabulous
Our room was directly above bar and noise easily travelled. Unable to sleep until 1am Sunday morning.
Nice location, friendly staff. Good breakfast and very good evening meals.
Food excellent and staff very friendly and accommodating.
As a lone traveler I am always looking for somewhere that makes me feel comfortable and secure. Abbeyfields did this and as a bonus the food was fabulous.
train line near the window...although not so noisy
The real disappointment was the poor tandard of the single bedroom (3) - it was dire. It badly needed a complete refurbishment. Worn wooden surfaces (small desk), overhead mirror light in the bathroom didn't work, no towel rails, bedroom door surface on the outside worn, no drinking glass for water. The entire floor creaked. I tried to complain when checking out but it fell on deaf ears. Value for Money even at 2 star - NO.
Overall food was very good in the evening. Staff also good. Service at breakfast a little haphazard. I asked for brown toast but initially got white and the coffee served was dire. I asked for it to be replaced by tea. Porridge though was excellent.
Bed b4 11.30.p.m .no key so the boss has to lock you in .
Smell in the room, our window was facing the railway and it was really noisy when the trains passed by. Plus we heard lots of noise from the room next to us (our room door was shaking when the kids from next room were running around).
Very freindly and helpful staff, good location (we travel by car), clean room and shower
The proximity to the train line was a surprise!
Friendly locals in the bar!
bar noise until 1.20( bedroom above bar)
polite staff and early breakfast
After a long and at times wet day on the Wales coast path it was wonderful to arrive at a warm, clean room. The hotel came up with an evening meal too so no need to go exploring. Great shower, the temperature does not change with changes in the water pressure.
tv in the small size
traditional , well presented ,good location, value for the price ,clean
Host...excellent company, welcoming and helpful. Staff warm and friendly. I would have no hesitation to recommend this hotel and we will be using it again.
I messed up the online booking & only booked for myself, not including my 11-year-old son - but they accommodated him & didn't charge for him - very kind. Good bar & food too.
Relaxed, easy going environment, with friendly helpful staff.
Black mould in the shower, an overall smell of old in the room which I had to just spray deodorant to mask the smell, ancient damaged and very tatty furnature, horrid matress which was cheap to begin with, very old bed sheets that should be burned. The electrical switches and all the plug leads would probably fail an inspection as they are way beyond their due date for replacement. Decor in the room was very very old. I'm talking older than me at a minimum and I'm 33yrs old. Sitting in the room 3 was like sitting in the bar itself it was that loud. Good was ok but nothing to write home about. Just generic cheap mass breakfast sausages etc. Very loud trains that shake the room.
Friendly staff, £50 discounted to £40, Wifi (although slow),
Food the owner location
room was cold. Bed was hard with well worn bedding and furniture....in need of makeover asap
Perfectly friendly staff
The only thing I missed was the adapter for electricity and also, when I tried to order a dinner at 8:45 p. m. (and the dinner is served from 7-9 p. m.), there was not the chef of the kitchen to cook it.
I really liked the location of this hotel, in the countryside close to the beach, near to Bangor, close to the trips by bus to Snowdonia. I liked the breakfasts, they were quite big. The waitress was very nice to me.
Low door jumbs, resulting in many head hits for people > 190 cm tall man.
bit noisy room, far from the centre of city
the food, the friendly staff
I thought the railway being so close would have been a problem, but I slept well. Noise of other guests was a distraction at times.
The location was nicely sited for my trip down memory lane. The food was very good, staff were friendly and helpful.
Rather tired looking
The staff and food
Decor is stuck in a bit of a time warp.
Dinner was good and breakfast too.
Condition of furniture - dated and tatty, Bathroom - shower and fan did not work, mould around shower Too near to main train line.
